GMOTY 2019-20
Shouts to Joe for his really fun FA, people also forget he's got Machine Gun Ja sitting back waiting for his time in the sun. Nick, Jesse and Ralph also made some fun moves this season to put their teams into contention but ultimately went with GX, big fan of finding your guy and paying for your vision and it paid off for the lakers this year.
That being said this award needs some refinement and the criteria is yucky, GM's like Heimer who build absolute rocket ships over a consistent long period of time or GMS who draft well and develop their players like what Jburns is doing dont nearly get the recognition they deserve

Missed clicked by accident and meant to vote for Joe (accidently voted for Derek). Going from worst to first is very impressive even with FA luck. solid moves all around throughout the season and they all paid off. Shoutout Derek and Jesse as well, thought they both made solid moves all year round.
PS: Vote changed
PS2: Goated Console! and i stay awake thinking about how i fucked the Herro trade every night, but that will not stop me screaming from the rooftops that Hood is goated

Voted for the Xtractor. Wasn’t sure if his plan was going to work, he got aggressive and was super decisive in putting his team together via trades, he snagged Kyrie when it was unclear if he was even available, then won the PG trade. He should have kept Herro lol but I think overall an incredibly impressive campaign.
Joe obviously deserves props for turning his team around. Ralph deserves mention for the Jazz being so consistent. Merv put together the best offense in SLN history. etc etc

voted for joe. can't remember the last time a team went from worst to 2nd best record in 1 season
I voted for Joe. Worst to 56 wins is extremely impressive, no matter how much luck occurred in FA. Loved the Whiteside and Bledsoe additions to capitalize on a historic free agency. This team still has a ton of ammo to get better.
Shoutout DMo for finding a lebron trade that keeps the team in playoff contention until they get their picks back

voted for GX. joe obviously has a great case as well, but ultimately went with GX due to the kyrie trade
Voted for Joe.
The degree of difficulty to pivot from a two year tank into contention (as others have noted, going from worst record to second-best) is really high, and I think he should be rewarded for shrewd moves made in the offseason / throughout the regular season. While there was some FA luck involved with Harden and Looney, Joe’s belief in Prince (and subsequent supercamp) should be a merit for his candidacy, too. He also deserves +1 for deft DC management despite having to figure out a new-look roster (as does my #2 candidate).
GX also had a very strong candidacy in a tough GMOTY race. Loved the deals for Kyrie and PG (particularly as a buy-low asset whom few GMs viewed as a true star). I think it’s typically less challenging to pivot from a tank to contention with a longer rebuild window (when we’re able to aggregate assets over the course of the tank), but that shouldn’t diminish the awesome job he’s done this year. Mainly saying that as a distinction between two good candidates.
Honorable mentions go out to Jesse, Derek, and Tyler for either successfully retooling or pushing in their chips to go for it in a competitive season.

Fixed so you can correct that nowGX. wrote: ↑Today, 9:47 am Missed clicked by accident and meant to vote for Joe (accidently voted for Derek).
