Making SLN Great Again - Ideas for Improvement
Texting like a normal person >> texting too much >> ghosting or not responding on a trade when you can just say “no” >> texting with Joe about trades

Love the engagement so far and appreciate the feedback. I am in no way asking people to stop what they are doing. More of a reflection of how I am thinking about things and seeing where there is agreement or disagreement. And so far plenty of both which is good I think! Some notes on the notes
- I completely understand the texting thing and agree on the two way street thing. I will certainly just let people know I am busy but a lot of times i get too busy to do that. Bad cop out I know. Not asking folks to stop and understand the time sensitivity, but also I personally don't like to be rushed into making a deal. I like to think on things.
- Def not saying no grading of trades or FA deals or any of that. Of course they should be analyzed, its part of the game and important to know how other GMs are thinking about things. I think it can be done in a respectful way and if people want to react on it, then go for it lol. I also know its easier to take criticism from friends then from folks I havent met, so I think the getting to know folks thing could help us not take things so seriously.
- Love the SLN retreat idea - I'd waste a weekend to hang with yall

Thanks Manty for taking the time to share all these thoughts. I think people have made really good points generally so not going to rehash anything that's been said.
Think the one thing I'd say is that I think it's important that we break down/analyze other teams' moves (more talk and discussion is great!). Less engagement = bad, and it's OK to have takes and opinions on things, that's a fun part of this league to everyone, I think. I do think there's a line between constructive criticism/playful commentary, versus commenting on things with a level of cynicism (joking or not) that can make the game less fun for others. As someone who loves being on the boards most of the time I'm still always personally trying to be cognizant of that. (This is a principle I apply IRL after a decade of publicly covering basketball - when I have to break down teams or players, whether they are succeeding or struggling, I never write anything that I wouldn't just say to someone if they asked me, and if people get pissed off — believe me, it happens — I can live with it.)
I don't think we have a big issue with this generally, but I would echo Merv's point that when this does happen, it can sometimes make people reticent to share/feel less comfortable having a voice on the boards, which we don't want! And while generally we should assume best intentions from everyone (I think by now we all know each other well enough to know that there are no toxic people in the league, thank fuck), it's also important for us all to have self-awareness too. For example, I talked a bunch of shit to Joe yesterday, we had fun with our dumb meme war, I still got my ass kicked in the bubble, Joe and I know each other well enough at this point that it's not a big deal, but if you don't personally have rapport with someone, shit like that can get misinterpreted, especially when it's repeated and cynical or condescending, so it's just important for us all to stop and think sometimes. We've all had these moments I think over the course of the league where we have to check ourselves (I certainly have, lol).
All of this is to say: SLNCON, let's make it happen, it seems like we'd be able to get a good chunk of the league on board based on convos I've had with folks, and some time to get to know each other in person will probably smooth some of these things over too. The more we make an effort to trust each other the better the community will be, and to me that's the best part of this league anyway.

Where would be the most SLN-y location for SLNCON?
How many SLN stars can we get to appear?
Where does Kris Clack live?
