2019-20 Offseason Questionnaire - BIG BALLER EDITION

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Not a fan past about 15-20. Melo will be interesting. Ant got a Dwade comp. Maxey over haliburton. Wanted McDaniels or Isaiah

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

We suck. Depression is real

3. Thoughts on TC?

Kawhi A+ everything with the +20 pot

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Orlando, it’s bound to happen right?
Central: Hawks, KD
Midwest: Spurs, I hear it’s their year again
Pacific: Lakers, Kyrie

5. The bubble tournament is over! From here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?

Sonics. Sonics. Sonics.

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.

Everyone gets free shoes and team foot injuries are reduced 50%. 100% chance they’re united

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to tear it down. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?

Steph Curry and Kawhi Leonard. But no one thinks they’re superstars. LeBron, he’s on the block already. AD, on the block already. Blake, on the block already. Feels like a lot of good players are on the block

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.

Jordo is Paulie. You know why

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

N/A

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Ask Jordo, Arcane is nice

Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season

2019-20 Offseason Questionnaire - BIG BALLER EDITION

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Think Lamelo is gonna be amazing regardless of the stip. Also think Haliburton fell too far. Talked about it on the pod, but loved Hoff's draft - really like Patrick Williams as a tweener SF type...as long as he doesn't just have like 0 potential.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

I feel good! Swung a deal to land probably my favorite player of all time - he's a little long in the tooth but think he'll give us enough juice to be competitive this year. If we can get some TC luck, hopefully we can be in the mix for home court this year.

3. Thoughts on TC?
We need a big one! Luka SC is huge obviously, but also giving Robert Williams his last set of camps and bringing him up to SLN, plus some natural development for Dillon Brooks would be huge.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Celtics. Think Joe makes a move to improve what was already the best regular season team last year
Central: Bulls. Time for some new blood!
Midwest: Grizz. Itz Zinger Zeazon
Pacific: Lakeshow. Just proved they can play with anyone.

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?

Loser: the person who ends up with Liangelo (unless it's the Nuggets). That person is going to be in text / trade negotiation hell

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.

My guess is just 100 potential for all of them? I would expect the probability to be pretty high that they all get united, but I also think Nick and Kipke tend to be tougher negotiators than most so we'll see if that comes to fruition

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?

Think a bunch of superstars are on the block with AD / Steph / Kawhi /Jimmy Butler - the 76ers should have moved DJ and Korolev last year imo. Korolev clearly took a step back and another bad TC and he'll basically have evaporated his value from being one of the top value guys in the league on his deal. DJ gets less valuable every year - 76ers should be trying to accumulate assets right now instead of fighting for the 8 seed.

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.

Ralphie

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

If you asked me before the season what the best possible Bears scenario was, I might have said "Caleb looks good but we still lose games so we can get a good offensive lineman in the draft and Eberflus gets fired". But man is it tough to watch in real time.

Bulls are locked and loaded on the play in, as is tradition

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

I'm very excited about my draft. I think Desmond Bane can be the next star SG in the lease. He's super strong and a great defender. I plan on camping his offense, which was already solid based on scouts. Also very excited about Patrick Williams, coming into the league he was supposed to be Kawhi-like, which hasn't panned out yet. In SLN, he definitely translates into a SF and can be a hybrid of Myles Turner and Jabari Parker. Lastly, I took a flier on Cole Anthony as a game manager PG that can have some value one day.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

I'm going to trade some guys for RP, so I can make room to play some of the youngins'.

3. Thoughts on TC?

JJJ supercamp incoming. I'm going against everyone's advice and camping his offense while moving him to SF for TC. It's an experiment and it's fun. If it pans out, he can be an exciting player!

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Magic - their year
Central: Bucks - they take the next step
Midwest: Spurs - best team in league the 2nd half of season?
Pacific: Kings - good, young, and getting better

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?

I suspect it will be the Nuggets. If Ashes is making Denver take LaMelo #1, it probably means he's going to be really good with or without the stip.

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.

I think it's a potential stip like Darko or Wade where their potentials stay elevated for a certain amount of time.

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?

AD should be next, followed by a complete teardown in Utah (Marvin, Al, Oden). Let's see some stars move because it's fun and this league is about fun!

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.

As someone who has not watched the Sopranos in full, I can not comment on this sadly. I should be shamed for this.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

The Giants, sigh. The Knicks, getting there. Michigan basketball, hopeful. Michigan football, regretful (Go Hoosiers!).

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

I loved Anora -- it had a little bit of everything! Started watching The Americans, which has been great!

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Ant will be the best in the class regardless of the BBB stip and that the Melo getting auto drafted = him goated is being way overblown. Lavar is the CEO and he force drafted the #2 player as the number #1 pick. Holy shit! thats crazy.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
my least favorite to date. my goals are to have fun again!

3. Thoughts on TC?
I think TC stands for training camp, and its where players regress, improve, or stay the same. I think for the Sonicks, the franchise's players will go through TC this offseason.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks, they are the best team despite Navs busy job.
Central: Atlanta, they have KD
Midwest: Utah, they still got a great core despite cap issues. Grundle will sauce his way into another excellent team as the best GM in SLN
Pacific: Lakers, Kyrie

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?
Losers will be the sonicks. Winners will be clint because he will find a new found love of Sim League.

Winner is Ashes, his creativity and dedication to his sim league is amazing. and Despite a lot of peoples unmerrited complaints (you know who you are, go venmo ashes an extra $ this season you tools) he hit a home run. thanks Ashes.

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.
I think it will be a slight potential boost. nothing game breaking, but will be fun and cool to watch. I think as much positives that will come, i think there will be some shenanigans that are an inconvenience as well. odds are 100%. we have some passionate in the league who will stop at nothing !

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?
i 100% disagree with this. who the fuck thinks this is a sellers market? the trade market is dead and so is activity. no one will do anything unless its a slam dunk. #DeadTradeMarket

AD will go next

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.

GrantfromCal is Sal. Sal was the first to die and so was grant (i think)

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Chiefs and the Jayhawks are both very very good teams. i think people gonna get even more tired of KC winning rings after this year.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
White noise and meditation!

2019-20 Offseason Questionnaire - BIG BALLER EDITION

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Wish I'd spent a little more time doing draft research this time around because there were a ton of cool players and I had two prime picks, but alas. Liked the guys I picked, although we def need to start developing some non-wings in Maine. Thought the Heat might use the +10 potential on a guy like Haliburton instead of Wiseman, but I do see the upside argument for that pick. Toppin at 18 is a nice pull for Houston, as was Jalen Smith at 21 for Philly. Azubuike in the second round is nice for WAS too.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Got super fortunate with resignings, so we have the luxury of running it back with basically the exact same squad this year. Have the picks and some salary to move to make an upgrade somewhere, but haven't really figure out what that upgrade is. If you have ideas, plz hit me up!

3. Thoughts on TC?

I just hope the older fellas hold the line past age 30. Would be awesome to see Prince take another step forward, especially given how cheaply I have him right now, and would love a bump from Simons and Morant. Simons was emergency depth this year, would love to find some more minutes for him in our rotation in 2020. Lookin forward to Ja Supercamp next season!

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Celtics! Gotta bet on ourselves after a division title last year, but we were lucky to sneak past NYK and they will put up another good fight this year.
Central: Hawks. KD is still broken and Heimer can afford to keep 90% of the roster together. Will be curious to see how to post-Luka SC Bulls look with Rose added, but that's prob the only team that's got a chance to challenge Atlanta.
Midwest: Grizz. Jazz will finally have to break up their longstanding core and I think SAS are going a different direction.
Pacific: Sonics. Nick has a few moves in the hopper to move the needle after collecting assets for the past 7 seasons or so.

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?

Definitely whoever ends up with the Ball brothers should do quite well. But also active traders! I would be surprised if there weren't some incentives baked into the Ball-verse around activity. Lavar wants to increase league eyeballs and revenue.

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.

I think it's going to be something related to the cap sheet. Maybe you get to keep Melo on a rookie deal for a longer period of time while Lavar is cooking the books? I have an inkling the Ball brothers will be united.

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?

AD and Blake are out there, but I think Giannis could be next. Could allow MIN to actually tank for a top 3 pick in 22/23 and then build around KAT and IQ after that. Jazz need to get younger and cheaper in a bad way, so would be cool if Marvin moved.

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.

Hoff is Jackie Aprile Jr. He's the tree son of an FBB legend but loves eschewing the advice of league veterans and going completely rogue. He just got an A on his lit paper though. Edgar Allen Poe. Good writer, what a nutjob.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Drake Maye is good. This Patriots team is very bad. There are certainly worse spots to be in. Have gone from hoping we actively tank to sneakily hoping we beat competent teams that underestimate us. Still want to draft an elite LT. Celtics are a wagon, NBA standings are super weird right now with Cleveland just beating the brakes off everyone.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Rewatching Breaking Bad for shits, best show of all time. Tried getting into the Penguin but got a little bored. Actually taking recs for a new drama/thriller series.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Really happy to get Okoro at 8 and excited to stick BBall Paul and maybe Merrill in the NDL. I thought the top 20 or so prospects were pretty solid and interesting and then there was a pretty steep dropoff. See my article for full draft takes.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Feels early to say but I'm enjoying just shuffling my roster around and experimenting. I basically just want to be competitive while also making trades and setting the team up better for the long run. Still figuring out exactly what that looks like. If we can battle for the 7/8 seed again, great.

3. Thoughts on TC?

Really important TC for us just because we're such a young team. How well these guys develop will ultimately determine to what extent we tank. Trying to be patient though!

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Celtics, they have a strong roster and also a good amount of ammo to upgrade if they want
Central: Raptors, jk jk probably Hawks, Bulls and Pacers will be in the mix
Midwest: Grizzlies, now that they aren't in Canada anymore they will thrive. If the Jazz get FVV back then maybe the Jazz
Pacific: Suns? I feel like Tyler has been quiet lately and will probably resurface with a good team

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?

The Nets because Brooklyn is way better than New Jersey

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.

10:1 odds, I think it happens, Gelo is a wild card, the stip is that your team permanently becomes the Ballers

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?

I don't know that this is true, I think a lot of teams are just afraid to take risks right now, there are plenty of guys available

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.

I have like 12 episodes left in the series. How do you have time to watch it five times? It's taken me years to make it through the series lol. Steven is Christopher

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

I hate Matt Eberflus

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

I enjoyed Anora. Haven't had much time for extracurriculars lately

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

The fact i didn't even know who James Weisman is tells you 2 things: 1) This guy is an absolute bum 2) i have no ball knowledge. With that said he honestly does look like he has a good SLN profile and could be good, but does ashes (sorry Lavar) bake in some stuff for him to blow? Could be. and i wouldnt quite classify this as a sleeper and more of a steal but i think Tyrese Maxey is gonna be a wagon, love me some scorers and surprised he dropped as far as he did

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Off season has been pretty light in the Lake, im used to wheeling and dealing everyone i have but last season was obviously my first competing in this league and honestly just hoping PG doesnt go, if he does im fucked.

3. Thoughts on TC

Jakob +30 in everything, Bam + a million in everything, eddy please stay consistent

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks, Myles Turner...... Great team base, lotta cap room to work with

Central: Hawks, KD... Heimer kept virtually his entire team but he is over the cap so im interested to see how he plays that out

Midwest: Kinda a toss up to me between the Grizz and Jazz, if Ralph breaks it all down than the edge goes to the Grizz but if he keeps it together theyre still a wagon

Pacific: i mean commmmmonnnnnn now, Lakeshow all day!!!!!!!!

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?
Sonicks, he is definitely going to try and get all the balls together

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?
