21-22 Offseason Questionnaire
2021-22 Offseason Questionnaire
1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
We jumped! Super fortunate to land the 3rd pick, although kind of a drop off after the top two imo. I super-scouted Jalen and loved what I saw, although after the fact I was reminded that Amen plays for our commissioner's favorite team and was on a borderline generational run of insane highlights while Ashes was building the file so....I like the pick at 4 for Jwoo!
Also was excited to get who I thought was the best PG in the draft at 23 - Nembhard is a full lottery ticket for us since we have PG locked up for the foreseeable future (unless we trade Luka to the Bullets for AD!) but I'm hopeful he can show something in the NDL and be a trade chip for us.
Also really liked the Clippers grabbing Mark Williams and Walker Kessler, think both those guys are high floor guys with the chance to be really good if TC breaks the right way for them.
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
For like the 6th consecutive season, I feel a little stuck - not quite good enough to be a clear cut conference finals favorite, but also without enough assets to make a big swing to get into that territory. We'll see what TC brings Jalen Williams - at this point, I'm hoping he becomes the heir apparent to Derrick Rose and we can not skip a beat when Rose retires.
Goal this season is to win the championship, as it usually is - most of the East contenders should be worse than they were last year, even if it's marginal (Hawks getting older and losing Deron Williams, Knicks retooling and getting younger, Magic trading Kawhi and others), so I'm hopeful we can build on the success we had last year. Gonna need to see Luka work on his jump shot in TC, otherwise he may need to learn trading-block-ese
Oh, and we brought in Tacko! Very happy to not be playing Bruno 12 minutes a game this season.
3. Thoughts on TC?
An ideal TC would be our vets holding the line (Rose / Sanders), Luka improving his jumpshot, and Jalen Williams showing some improvements across the board. Nembhard having a nice PG TC would be a nice bump.
4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: Knicks - even with the impending move think the Tyus / Okogie / Turner backcourt is goated
Central: Bulls - see red!
Midwest: Nuggets - Kipke's back!
Pacific: Clippers - think it'll be close with the Suns, but think Fultz at the 2 might actually be a cheat code - don't bet against a spurned Kyrie
5. Lots of teams appear to be flipping the switch (or attempting to) this offseason. Who will be the most successful and why?
Seems like the Nuggets have done the most to flip the switch - excited to see how the new pieces fit together.
6. Outside of the Lebron pick that was traded and then jumped, what's your favorite "sliding doors" moment or Butterfly Effect in the league's history?
I think Jesse drafting and then trading two super fun players in Isaac Bonga and Rui Hachimura is hilarious - I can only imagine the marketing blitz that would have ensued from either of those players spending extended time in Sacramento, but instead Tyler seems to have taken the opposite approach, trying to keep them under the radar. Unfortunately Rui just got way too good to stay under the radar (and Bonga...RIP)
7. What do you think the Vegas odds are for a Hawks threepeat? Would you bet em?
Probably something like +550? I think I play the field just with how fickle the FBB playoffs are - but definitely some value to be had at that number if you think the Hawks have a decent TC
8. What are the top 3 value deals in the league right now (rookie deals excluded)?
Derrick Rose!!
Larry Sanders!!
Taurean Prince
9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Bears got the guy! The cycle of in season disappointment and offseason excitement is still alive, at least for now.
Glad to see the Bulls finally pick a direction - hopeful that we can get some other assets for some of our guys at the deadline and fully bottom out for a chance at Cooper Flagg.
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Am currently watching Silo at Joe's recommendation - we, uh, disagree on the merits of the show. Would love to hear if other people have seen it / what they think of it

Am currently watching Silo at Joe's recommendation - we, uh, disagree on the merits of the show. Would love to hear if other people have seen it / what they think of it
1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
The Thompson Twins are super intriguing; think the obvious comp is Shawn Marion. Probably would have taken Paolo 1, but I totally get the potential with Chet.
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Pretty blah. When both of my expiring useful guys failed to offer and Monta did not retire, it was foretold that we'd be losing at least one guy in FA. Hopefully I can deploy our remaining cap space well and land a useful MLE, although the pickings are slim. Ultimately the trade that sent Monta to Toronta should be beneficial - I'm happy to get off that money at that price point and replace it with talent and upside in Shabazz and JP.
3. Thoughts on TC?
Would like to see positives from Reddish / RJ / Lauri / JP, otherwise not looking for much to change.
4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: Knicks, although they appear to be over the HC with only 10 guys on the NY roster.
Central: Can't pick against the Hawks.
Midwest: I want to pick the Grizzlies, but they're also against the HC with only 8 guys rostered. The Jazz are in a similar spot. Hmm. I'll take Utah I guess.
Pacific: I'll take the Warriors, think this is between them and the Suns. I'm a noted John Wall hater so Dubs it is.
5. Lots of teams appear to be flipping the switch (or attempting to) this offseason. Who will be the most successful and why?
I think I'll take Denver - they had the most ammo to start with and fewer holes to plug. The Clippers might have the two best players at the single most important position, but IMO you'd want to move one of those guys rather than build around both and sacrifice the advantages of playing one at the one.
6. Outside of the Lebron pick that was traded and then jumped, what's your favorite "sliding doors" moment or Butterfly Effect in the league's history?
Least favorite: RFA rule change. Next year, Jameer Nelson does not offer to resign. The following season, lacking an RFA tag, we trade Lou Williams for a fine starting center on what turns out to be a one year rental. Results: we miss a Jameer / Lou pairing, potential greatness in POR, and Dwight Howard makes $$$$
7. What do you think the Vegas odds are for a Hawks threepeat? Would you bet em?
2 in 5. I'd take that.
8. What are theth top 3 value deals in the league right now (rookie deals excluded)?
Henry Ellenson, Jordan Poole, Rudy Gobert.
9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Glad the Warriors are not getting Jimmy. Feel bad for Steph though. Would say we should find a way to tank but were too good in the first 15.
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
The Martha documentary. Slouching Towards Bethlehem. Say Nothing.
Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Complete tanking failure on my part, I guess the core was a little better than I originally thought. I'm happy Jaden Ivey, guy with the third highest Pot fell to me at 13 and can send him down to the NDL to hopefully flourish.
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Supremely disappointed with all my trade talks, my overall opinion of trading in this league is at an all time low but hey what can ya do. Hoping one of Darius Garland or Dejounte Murray can be a solid PG in this league but well see, will use this season as an audition for both.
Would love to see Dunc's usage improve and Mikal take that next step, hoping Mitch becomes one of the most valuable butts in the league.
3. Thoughts on TC?
Consistent improvement from the young core, a boost to Dunc's inside to increase his usage, improvement for Mikal, Mitch and Garland.
4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: Celtics - Harden stays and slays
Central: Hawkleheimer
Midwest: Spurs - bet on yoself
Pacific: Clips Year
5. Lots of teams appear to be flipping the switch (or attempting to) this offseason. Who will be the most successful and why?
Clippers Year, go Bobby
6. Outside of the Lebron pick that was traded and then jumped, what's your favorite "sliding doors" moment or Butterfly Effect in the league's history?
Kawhi possibly ending his career in denver is actually kinda cool, what if he was always there?
7. What do you think the Vegas odds are for a Hawks threepeat? Would you bet em?
+400 East is still loaded, injuries can happen blah blah blah
8. What are the top 3 value deals in the league right now (rookie deals excluded)?
Mitchell Robinson
Duncan Robinson
Markelle Fultz
9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Knicks season is over with OG going down
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Landman on Paramount is fucking incredible, Arguably billy bob thorntons best role since Fargo . Taylor Sheriden doesnt miss.
Shameless plug but Traitors on Peacock is also fucking awesome.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
I would have taken Chet first too but understand there was a debate to be had between him and Paolo. Congrats (I guess) to the Bulls for jumping to 3rd with my pick
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Tried to get a cheap upgrade at C with Whiteside. Thin at SF now. But have my own pick back so I’m content being mediocre again while watching Haliburton and Cade continue to develop and waiting out Jennings’ contract
3. Thoughts on TC?
Hoping to see Hali and Cade take jumps again and hopefully Whiteside doesn’t die
4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: Knicks. Only getting better
Central: Hawks. Just set the win record and haven’t changed a thing.
Midwest: Nuggets. Kawhi
Pacific: Clippers. Kyrie
5. Lots of teams appear to be flipping the switch (or attempting to) this offseason. Who will be the most successful and why?
Clippers. It’s been said already, but I’m also excited to see Kyrie / Fultz together
6. Outside of the Lebron pick that was traded and then jumped, what's your favorite "sliding doors" moment or Butterfly Effect in the league's history?
7. What do you think the Vegas odds are for a Hawks threepeat? Would you bet em?
+300 ish I would think? I probably wouldn’t bet them just because of potential injury flukyness
8. What are the top 3 value deals in the league right now (rookie deals excluded)?
Biyombo
Jonathan Isaac
Semi Ojeleye
9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Pacers have been nice lately
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Finally watched The Substance. Insane

Supremely disappointed with some trade talks, my overall opinion of trading in this league is at an all time low. Think I make extremely fair compelling offers and will generally overpay more than the rest of the league, so I feel like im condescended to in every negotiation but hey what can ya do. 1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
My thoughts are what in the world did i do to the lotto gods. Fine with how the draft played out after --> two tickets in Braun and Watson plus some asset accumulation. But fuuuuuck did I want a top 4 pick. Chet would've been so swagged out in south beach. Funny consolidation of who made all the picks this year. Amen is gonna be awesome if the camps are right (imagine him with Sengun smh)
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Solid offseason, finally out of SLN and real life work purgatory and can spend more time here. Bonga is exciting. I'm hyped for Killian Hayes and if he's good maybe Bonga is moved. Goals are to take a step forward, finally figure out what we have with what's currently there.
3. Thoughts on TC?
Plz dear lord let Wiseman be something after this camp. Can’t wait for the Sengun supercamp next year. The Hayes TC is going to be fascinating too.
4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: Magic. Kind of bold I guess. Hard one for me to project b/c you know the Celtics will be solid. And I like the Knicks squad a lot. Just going to bet on Merv in his window with Steph and Book and AG.
Central: Hawks Heimer Wagon
Midwest: Jazz still like their squad at this point relative to the rest of the division
Pacific: Suns. Rui and Joker are just too good. And TP will make the pieces work (does Bonga return at some point eyeball emoji)
5. Lots of teams appear to be flipping the switch (or attempting to) this offseason. Who will be the most successful and why?
I’ll go with the Nuggets; Dave has a really nice base set up and is usually pretty successful pivoting out of a tank even if it means overpaying, he’ll be good when he wants to be.
6. Outside of the Lebron pick that was traded and then jumped, what's your favorite "sliding doors" moment or Butterfly Effect in the league's history?
Will circle back here… Shaq falling to me in the creation draft is a fun thought exercise. Falling is a loose term of course.
7. What do you think the Vegas odds are for a Hawks threepeat? Would you bet em?
+300 yes I would
8. What are the top 3 value deals in the league right now (rookie deals excluded)?
D Rose smh
Aaron Gordon
Larry Sanders voodoo magic in Chicago has been real too
9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
I mean Arsenal and Mizzou basketball have been pretty hype the past week. Think Mizzou is a legit top 15 team (has holes but can play with anyone). Arsenal it’s hard to be mad where they’re at considering the injuries, bad luck, and piss poor refereeing (plus MLS and Nwaneri eye ballllz)
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Just been really locked into Sequence lately. Such a good game. Tried watching Glengarry Glen Ross yesterday. Insane cast but didn’t do it for me. Severance, Shrinking #Goats

Auser Thompson is going to be like Jamario Moon... he is going to be so cool and fun. Not sure his shooting reaches the levels required for super stardom but with some TC luck, i like his prospects. Amen super cool too, D Wadey without the loyalty stip.
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Offseason has been way more action packed than I expected or wanted. I offered Bonga a $12.5M flat deal over 7 years and he took less starting money, total money, average money, and years to leave a contender for a tanker. FBB bullshit will be overcome! Lonzo and Wall should lock down opposing backcourts, just need to find a way to keep turnovers down. Pumped about Bag Man offering a legit 3rd scoring option to complement Rui and Joker over the next 5 seasons.
3. Thoughts on TC?
Hopeful that Rui still has some pot left in the tank due to his NDL stint but that is probably greedy. Joker got the +20 pot not too long ago so he could take a moderate step forward. Bag man improving in rebounding or defense would be welcomed well as he is only 24 years old and still showing B pot.
4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: Give me the Celtics here... with ammo to upgrade and the magic and knicks poised to shake things up, i like the celtics getting over the hump.
Central: Ill take the Hawks and not over think it. Trying to figure out how this team is much worse than last year and its hard to see a big decline. The bulls taking advantage of Rose's cheat code resigning deal could swing the pendulum in this division but for now, I like the champs.
Midwest: Nuggets are here with maybe the funnest team in the league.
Pacific: If you asked me 3 days ago, I would've said the Suns for sure. But with Bonga's departure and Kyrie moving to the other side of the Staples / Crypto.com / Intuit / Qualcomm center, the Clips should be very fiesty. Jesse has a war chest of assets and Sonicks should be better than last year too. Warriors and blazers mad competitive too. Hardest division in the league.
5. Lots of teams appear to be flipping the switch (or attempting to) this offseason. Who will be the most successful and why?
Nuggets because they are full sending with no regard for human life
6. Outside of the Lebron pick that was traded and then jumped, what's your favorite "sliding doors" moment or Butterfly Effect in the league's history?
I think a fun one that hasnt been said is the OG KG trade. This really shook up the landscape of both conferences. The raptors launched into a impressive contending run, the blazers retooled and cleared cap space to poach Dwight Howard, draft Jameer nelson which was a defining team of the west for 10 years. If KG isnt traded, does Dwight stay in Philly and launch a dynastic run with Lebron?
7. What do you think the Vegas odds are for a Hawks threepeat? Would you bet em?
+450, not this year... titles are so hard to win and while I think I would make them the favorites, i'd probably take the field just because of odds if thats the question
8. What are the top 3 value deals in the league right now (rookie deals excluded)?
Marvin Bagley, Chris Boucher, corey joseph
9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Well, I'm driving to New Orleans next weekend to watch my first true love go for the first three peat in NFL history so got a lot of thoughts that other GMs would probably not read due to Chiefs fatigue
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Enjoying my few nights of Marvel Rivals with the SLN gang! Although i am total ass... first time playing an overwatch-y game on mnk and the learning curve is steep. Rewatching the marvelous mrs maisel with my gf and that show is so well done.
Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season
Auser Thompson is going to be like Jamario Moon... he is going to be so cool and fun. Not sure his shooting reaches the levels required for super stardom but with some TC luck, i like his prospects. Amen super cool too, D Wadey without the loyalty stip.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Was surprised to see Chet go #1, thought it was Paolo but didn't look too deeply into either. Was happy the Phi pick didn't jump or that would have made me sad. Happy to snag Keon Ellis at 16, looks like he profiles to be a stocky 3&D guy.
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Sad to have Shabbaz walk on us in free agency but thankful AD returned. We had our birds right guy poached Day 1 (thanks Detroit) so we sadly will have around $25mil in wasted cap we can't fill out. Hopefully we're somewhere near/above .500 again, need Ant and Maxey to take steps forward and shoulder more of the scoring load. Always poking around for upgrades but much harder without easily moveable salary.
3. Thoughts on TC?
Ant and Maxey getting their insides juices and becoming legit starters. AD is on the cusp of flat A in rebounding and defense so it'd be nice to see him keep improving. Chose to camp Udoka's handles cause his reb and blocks are already in a nice place. Hopefully those organically keep improving and he's shaping up to be a starting center.
4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: Knicks, great young core that is supposedly changing up soon. Magic retooling after trading Kawhi. Celtics close behind too.
Central: Hawks, 2x reigning champs. KD the best SF in the league. DJ the best butt in the league. Payton and Tyreke all stars too, those guys are loaded
Midwest: Nuggets, Kipke made some big moves this season with another reportedly coming in soon. Not a ton of other top tier teams in this divison
Pacific: Suns, Lakers lost Kyrie. Clip don't have enough pieces surrounding their superstar back court. Kings retooling. Suns are uber taleneted
5. Lots of teams appear to be flipping the switch (or attempting to) this offseason. Who will be the most successful and why?
Nuggets, Kawhi is instantly the best wing in the West beating out PG13 by a tad. Goga and Thybulle are super stocky and fun players. Rumor has it there's another significant upgrade coming soon too
6. Outside of the Lebron pick that was traded and then jumped, what's your favorite "sliding doors" moment or Butterfly Effect in the league's history?
Favorite or most traumatizing? Signing Lindsey Hunter to a max and then have him instantly get worse ever TC post pay day. Forcing the breakup of the best butt (Duncan) and scorer (Allen) in the league at the time
7. What do you think the Vegas odds are for a Hawks threepeat? Would you bet em?
+300 and yes
8. What are the top 3 value deals in the league right now (rookie deals excluded)?
Justice Winslow
Chris Boucher
Jayson Tatum
9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Jayden Daniels is the best QB the Redskins/FootballTeam/Commanders have had in my life time. He makes football fun again and am super excited about the future building around a legit QB. Caps still have the best record in hockey. Maryland bball just got ranked 18, things are looking good in the DMV.
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Watched Severance, it was a little odd but kept making me want to watch more. Season 1 finale was existing TV. Rivals with the SLN gang always fun.
