Manu Ginobili - Boston Celtics

Post by mantypas/CavsCzar »

Dearly gathered SLN nerds. We gather here today to honor, salute, and officially welcome one of the best players this league has ever seen, Manu Ginobili, into the SLN HOF. Known coming into the league as a man with no weaknesses, you have displayed dominance over the league playing a key role in dominant teams throughout your tenure, including a few finals runs and a big championship. One of the greatest of all time!

Drafted by the Pacers first overall in 1999, Mr. Argentina came in and made an immediate impact. averaging 12.3 PPG stock to turnover positive with solid efficiency. His next year, he increases his PPG to 23 points, and continues to get better year over year. In 2001, he made his first all star game, with season averages of 27.7 PPG on 46.8% from the field and 44.1% from 3, with 7.7 boards, 5 assists, 2.8 steals to only 1.8 turnovers. He did not miss an All-Star game for the rest of his career! He took the pacers to the Finals where they fell to the Jazz 4-2 in 2002. Calvin, ex Pacers GM, gave it until 2004 for get him that ring but had no luck. He got traded to the Celtics for Kobe in a star for star deal and continued to take off in Boston. He averaged no less than 33.5 PPG with the celtics and shot no worse than 49.5% from the field. An was grabbing about 3 steals a game, an absolute cheat code on both ends. He won SLN MVP in 2006, when he averaged the following:

2006 Celtics 82 38.1 1006 2003 .502 470 525 .895 265 572 .463 7.6 5.2 2.6 0.2 1.8 2 33.5

That wasnt even his highest scoring average in a season! He finally got a title in 2007 in a hard fought battle against the Grizzlies taking it away in game 7. He was eventually traded to the Bullets where him and CP3 had a balanced attack and good roster but fell in the playoffs with a few roughly timed injuries and fate. He is one of few to average over 30 points for his career, a testiment to his dominance and longevity. When he retired in 2013-14, everyone was shocked, as he was still a top player in the league with the bullets, averaging the below.

2013 Bullets 78 34.7 868 1886 .460 359 432 .831 225 569 .395 6.1 4.1 1.7 0.1 1.9 2 29.7

Manu - you were one of the the GOATS, a legend, a champion, an all star, a many many time All SLN all Defense, all everything. You deserve this as much as anyone else, congrats sir
