Top Season Performances of All Time

Post by Josh »

35 Year Old Dwyane Wade has still got it. He is shooting over .500, leading the league in 3P% at 52%, and has a true shooting percentage of 61.2%. On top of retaining a near 2:1 stocks:TO.

I looked around the league and it looks like Wade is leading the league in TS% this year. Boban is above 60%, and CJ Miles and Steph are in the next tier between 59% and 60%.

I was wondering about the historical context of 61.2% TS. I compiled all available SLN season player data (excluding 1998 RIP) and looked into the best season performances. See below.

35 Y/O Wade is having the 17th best TS percentage in SLN history. How I miss my golden boy

Manu dominates the TS chart with 3 of the top 4 seasons, and he did it all with great volume. Some interesting names on the top - that was a magical jason richardson season in 2010. The best mark from last season was Wade at 60.4% - and he's even better now.

Next I put together the top 10 PPG season performance in SLN history.

Points per Game

10Jamal MashburnSuns200236.658.1%48.0%44.4%25.4%
Here we see the Dirk repeating at the top of the list. I was surprised that his top scoring season didn't have historical TS efficiency - it was the 43rd best mark of all time. (Nick he was really really good don't be offended.) The leading scorer last year, Kyrie, had the 31st highest scoring season in SLN history, but his TS was the 89th best in SLN history.

Onto the big boy rankings.

Those are some big buttocks. A lot of the best blocking performances were matched with very good rebounding, and vice versa. My takeaway is that these guys are very strong.

Greg Oden is a god

Also, most of these big butts are recent. Hakeem is the only representation from the 90s. Hakeem, Shaq, and Jermaine O'Neal are the only retired players.

Let me know if you find this interesting. I was thinking about ranking these season performances by position next

Also thanks @bpankin the table formatting tip is great

I see you, Dahntay. Fuck so hard all season that you don't play in the playoffs... at least you made a fancy list. Loser.

Trading away Lou Will after the 2013 Finals Game 7 loss was so dumb of me. I could have just run it back with him and Kyrie. Ugh
