Top 10 Draft Recap

Post by SoNicks »

1. Jayson Tatum SF - Golden State Warriors

Jayson Tatum SF 19 6'8'' 210 B- B- C B- C+ A
Domantas Sabonis PF 21 6'10'' 240 B B- B+ C B A
Jabari Parker SF 22 6'8'' 245 B A- D C+ C A

An interesting trio of young stars all on their Rookie contracts. The warriors are still primed to collect another top pick in a star studded 2018 draft. With Tatums horizon, the Warriors will be looking to get their second contract saga started off with the re-signing of Jabari Parker. With Sabonis already shooting on excellent splits for a young man and a ton of room to grow, Tatum is the latest piece in a star studded rookie roster looking to collect one more piece in the march to playoff contention. Being the profile of a high profile two way superstar, this choice was easy and a perfect one. Tatum will take time to cook in the TC oven, and along the way Clint could very well pick up another dude. We give this one an Emma stone in Easy A!

2. Jonathan Isaac - Charlotte Hornets

Jonathan Isaac PF 20 6'10'' 230 C+ B- D+ B+ C+ A
Jamal Murray SG 20 6'4'' 215 B- A- C C C- A
Bogdan Bogdanovic SG 25 6'5'' 220 C+ A- C C- C- B

The Hornets came in early with a surprising pick of Isaac at the number two slot of the draft. Beat reporters figured Donovan Mitchell would be the prime pick to star two prolific guards in the backcourt together. Perhaps Mitchell being a true SG and Murray being a flex guard drove the hornets to seek a more balanced roster construction approach. The TOs will be better off for it, that's for sure. Isaac at the two is a surprise, but not a miss.he is a prolific looking 3-5 stud, in the mold of the great forwards of seasons past. He profiles as a defensive monster, and has a stock B+ to boot. His upside two way potential is enough to get the people salivating over him. If Murray and Isaac can develop their shot making, and the Hornets can retain Bogdan for a bargain, they can pair a trio of young prospects with a top pick next year!

3. Donovan Mitchell - Milwaukee Bucks

Donovan Mitchell SG 21 6'3'' 215 B+ B- C C+ C- A
Bradley Beal SG 24 6'4'' 207 C+ A B C+ C- C

The rebuild is off to the races! Pairing Beal and Mitchell is fun. Even if the Beal trade rumors hold true and he is shipped off, Mitchell is still a very fun piece to get a rebuild started with. A High scoring prospect at the two with slight TO issues is a mold we've seen turn right time and again. He will turn out tasty AF. I mean B+ starting IS is nice. If his OS hits high A-, look out! Mitchell in addition to another potential top pick next year and the bucks could be off to the races!

4. Lauri Markkanen - Portland Trail Blazers

Lauri Markkanen PF 20 7'0'' 240 B- B D+ C B- A

Portland got another real one with potential prolific wing scorer Lauri Marksmenen coming to town. Despite the presence of Dwight and OJ, the TBs got a top dawg and are looking to get the next era started despite Dwight's permanent nature on the roster. With a couple more top picks, Dwight's contract might not even matter. Portland assuredly needs a youth infusion into their backcourt, but they are off to a great start in their FC rebuild. What they do with Dwight, OJ, Alex Len, and Jeremy Lamb will be worth watching. The team has a lot of pieces, but are they the right ones for the long term? Only those who Blaze the Trails know.

5. Jarrett Allen - Washington Bullets

Jarrett Allen C 19 6'11'' 243 C C C- B B- A
Pascal Siakam SF 23 6'8'' 230 B- B- C B+ C+ A
Christian Wood SF 22 6'8'' 214 B+ B- C- B- C+ A
Caleb Swanigan PF 20 6'9'' 260 C C-C- C+ B+ C

A Collection of interesting forwards is what this man has! Jarrett Allen might be a redundancy, but in my eyes, hes a guarentee! An assurance that this new Bullets Frontcourt will be supremely talented in the future. Between Allen, Siakam, Wood, and Flanigan, the bullets are stacked! The next question is who will develop, and who will the Bullets draft in their BC to run with these dawgs.

6 & 10. Bam Adebayo & Dearon Fox - Los Angeles Lakers

Bam Adebayo C 20 6'9'' 255 C+ C C+ B B- A
De'Aaron Fox PG 20 6'3'' 185 C+ B- B C C- A
Ricky Rubio PG 27 6'2'' 190 C+ A- A+ C+ C C
Andrew Wiggins SF 22 6'7'' 197 B+ B+ C C+ C B
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson SF 23 6'6'' 217 B- B- C B+ B- B
Henry Ellenson PF 21 6'10'' 240 C+ B C C B+ A
Bobby Portis PF 22 6'10''250 B- B D+ B B+ B
Jakob Poeltl C 22 7'0'' 245 B- D+ C B+ B- A

Is there a more fun, young team than the Lakers right now?! Bam and Fox join a vast collection of young talent currently cookin in the LAL oven. A home run draft is the latest move in a very nice rebuild. They might naturally start becoming too good to tank in the next year or two, and whats key is either extending all this young talent, or trading it for guaranteed contracts. A DC of Rubio, Fox, Wiggins, Portis, Bam with RHJ ellenson and poelt is already a really deep DC. Which horses will LAL retain as they enter the era of competition? Will they finally trade Rubio or will they retain him onto his next contract? These are the questions we have for the lakers going forward.

7. Lonzo Ball - Seattle SuperSonicks

Jahlil Okafor C 22 6'10'' 270 B+ C- D+ B- B C
Ben Simmons SF 21 6'10'' 240 B D+ B+ A- B A
Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot SF 22 6'7'' 220 B B- C- A- C B
Lonzo Ball PG 19 6'6'' 190 C C+ B B C+ A
Chris Boucher PF 25 6'9'' 200 C+ C+ D+ B C+ B

This is a very peculiar collection of players. No one can shoot and no one screams superstar. If anything they are quirky role players to bring along the way during a long rebuild. Ben Simmons has the tools to be a great supersub, cleaning up each and every spot on your DCs bench. But will he ever become a competent winning PG? I doubt it with that big D+ still in place, hell ever be good from anywhere outside of 5 feet. Lonzo ball is another “everything but score” type of build. A truly sadistic thing to have. With no scoring, itll be surprising to see the SuperMarkets score over 100 ppg. They have the promise of a nice defensive squad… one day… in the far future. But if the sonics keep collecting picks outside the top 5, who knows if they will ever get out of the rut. This long rebuild might've gotten longer. Maybe trading Jahlil, Wright, and Iggy could help.

8. Markelle Fultz - Los Angeles Clippers

Derrick Rose PG 29 6'3'' 200 A B+ C- A- C C
Markelle Fultz PG 19 6'4'' 209 C+ C B- B- C A
Otto Porter Jr. SF 24 6'8'' 198 B A- C B- C+ C
Khris Middleton SF 26 6'7'' 222 B A- C+ C+ C C
Malik Monk SG 19 6'3'' 200 B- B C+ C C- B

Another team with a lot of question marks, but they have a couple really fun pieces. Prime Rose is a beast and might be on the move. What would such a package look like? Does a young team take a swing on him and send a young stud to run with Fultz? Or Do the clippers go all in on future picks. Monk and Fultz will surely need time to cook, will that time be too long to capture Rose’s prime? Most likely. Hopefully the clippers can pull a winning move to set them up for the Fultz era for success.Fultz, Monk, and Porter are the future for LAC, but how will middleton and Rose (or his return) fit in around them going forward?

9. &11. Derrick White & Dillion Brooks - Chicago Bulls

Robert Covington SF 27 6'7'' 209 B- B C- B+ B B
Nicolas Batum SF 29 6'8'' 230 B B+ C B C D
Derrick White SG 23 6'4'' 190 C B B B- C B
Dillon Brooks SF 22 6'6'' 225 C+ B C B C B

Chicago is deep in the trenches of a rebuild and took a couple of sure fire floor role players Dillion Brooks most likely (and annoyingly) will become a defensive guy, kinda like JULIAN WRIGHT, and Derrick white is THAT kind of combo guard. He could become a stellar game managing PG or backup combo roll. Batum and Covington are nice and cheap, but how do they fit in on this young core looking to acquire more top picks? I think Bulls will have some small trades this season, and i think a top pick is on the horizon for this team. How far will TC carry these high Floor picks, that could end up being steals of the draft.
