Bears on Hard Knocks! I always thought it was super weird how much Pats fans loved talking about how handsome Tom Brady is, and then I had to watch a 15 minute segment on Matt Eberflus' glow up. There's no doubt about it - I am ready to be hurt again.
All I'm gonna hear on PMT this season is how thicc Caleb Williams' ass is
It's gonna be a lot of people giving Big Cat shit when we go 6-11

16-17 Offseason Questionnaire

Post by quady »

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Said already but liked Lonzo a lot. Felt like Fox should have gone higher, and probably Markelle too tbh. Wanted to try to sneak back in to the first round to pick up DSJ as an NDL destroyer.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Totally fine. Happy to snag Lauri and will hopefully get a couple marketable guys on the MLE and LLE. We're kind of in a holding pattern until next offseason when we can generate a max cap slot.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

I would like to see my players improve!

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Celtics. The other top contenders all have an obvious problem. Nets have no wings, Knicks just lost Oladipo for nothing, the Heat have no depth, and the Magic have some moves to make still.
Central: I'll take Indiana here - think they're a little more complete than the Raps.
Midwest: Jazz! Riding with Jameer.
Pacific: Suns, as they seem to be the only team in the division actively buying.

5. Who is the player you regretted most not trading for before they retired?

Diop. And I want to say for the record, the big hang up in the Diop trade was no one wanting Lou Will. Also me not wanting to trade Marc Gasol. Look how that all turned out

6. What are the best and worst non-rookie contracts in the league?

Best: Alex Len, Austin Daye, OJ Mayo, Jeremy Lamb
Worst: I am not acquainted with any bad contracts

7. Recommend a trade for another team.

Orlando trades Jay Williams and their DET FRPs
Milwaukee trades Brad Beal and MLE to be named later

Allows the Magic to turn Jay into a younger and cost controlled guy, and shave a few dollars long term. Gets Milwaukee some in-division tanking ammo and a flippable guy on an expiring

8. If you could go back in time and re-do the way you camped a player, who would it be and what would you do differently?

I'd take the RP I spent on Rudy Gay and Hasheem Thabeet SCs and stick it in a HYSA

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Funny to see my real life favorite team going back and forth on trading for Lauri Markkanen. Danny Ainge seems like the worst guy in the world to deal with, so I get it. Was nice to see Steph have a moment in the Olympics.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Slowly getting through The Power Broker. If you're into NYC / American history, it's a great read, just super long and dense. A chapter about Long Island's potential for future parks started with like a four page dissertation on the tidal patterns and sand accumulation.

In addition to Team Awards, GMs can earn a quick and dirty 125RP by replying in this thread and filling out the below questionnaire - not required, but why not? Copy down the questions in a reply post and fill 'em out. Can be serious, can be funny, whatever you want. If you want to wait 'til after FA to fill this out, it's up to you! Just get it done by the tip of the 17-18 season.

DO NOT claim your RP in the RP thread - we will calculate it separately before the season turns over and if you posted you will receive credit.

2014-15 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

My thoughts are usually mostly in the big board, but some picks I loved in the first round were Derrick White, Chris Boucher, and Malik Monk - I think each of those guys dropped a few spots more than they should have. Bust wise, I think Mitchell and the 3 point guards all have the lowest floors relative to their ceilings, but their ceilings are quite high. I hope Dillon Brooks has only negative TCs

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Glad that we got a couple cheap resignings, and super duper pumped to be getting Jeremy Lin. We needed a star PG with Crawford likely on his last legs and S&T was the cheapest I would be able to get one. Will need to do some DC tinkering to make it work, but when Linsanity is factored in I think Mr. Lin is a top 6 or 7 point guard. Our goal is to win the division, but it'll be a tall order with the Knicks continuing to improve.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Outside of the old fellas holding the line, I'd like to see Paul George tick up in something - seems he had some wonky TC luck last time so I am hoping for regression. Wouldn't mind a pop from Willie Cauley Stein in the NDL and if Taurean Prince has another positive TC uncamped, he will get a supercamp next season (first one for the Celtics organization in a while!)

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks. Ugh. Embiid is just too broken, but hopefully our new look team can at least make it interesting
Central: Pacers. They're the champs til they ain't the champs no more! Raps and Hawks will be in the mix too
Midwest: Timbywolves! Jazz and Nugs still awesome but with KAT unleashed I think the Wolves could win 60 games
Pacific: Suns. Might be the only team over .500 in the division

5. Who is the player you regretted most not trading for before they retired?

Probably Ben Wallace. He was slung around a whole lot in his last few years but I never had the salary available to pull the trigger. Malik Allen too, what a guy.

6. What are the best and worst non-rookie contracts in the league?

He's now expiring, but the best deal last year was probably Koralev. Marvin Williams and CJ Miles have a case this year as well. Worst contracts are probably Dwight, Danny Granger, LMA, CP3.

7. Recommend a trade for another team.

Twolves trade Eric Bledsoe to the Raps for Koralev. Raps are gonna need the PG of the future (not sure its Brogdon), Wolves need a cost controlled two-way wing. Might need to be some RP or a pick attached one way or another but its reasonably close

8. If you could go back in time and re-do the way you camped a player, who would it be and what would you do differently?

Probably woulda given Tarik Black absolutely nothing instead of the 2400 I dumped into his useless ass

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

It's only taken about three Joe Milton highlights for me to start believing there's a QB controversy in New England. The guy is just prime Cam Newton, I will not be taking questions

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

House of the Dragon finale sucked monkey ass. In the market for a new show! Can't wait for Rings of Power season 2

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

This was far and away the most checked out I’ve ever been for a given draft (just got back from two weeks in Europe so the time zones and lack of time / draft picks deprived me of takes slash I didn’t make any content.

Having said that, happy to take a flier on Josh Jackson and see if we can turn him into a fun prospect.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Pretty happy with what I was able to do. Didn’t have a ton of flexibility but was really happy to get value for Humphries and then turn that salary slot into a new deal for Steven Adams. I overpaid a bit for him at face value but I think his amazing stip makes his contract desirable both for us and in terms of trading depending how things go for us moving forward. Was lucky to have almost my entire team coming back and the capacity to pay him.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Important TC for us that will have a lot to do with whether we can keep competing at a super high level. Primarily Tony Parker needs to hang on for one last ride. But I’m also excited about the handful of young guys on the roster and hope we get some nice internal development from guys like Brogdon and O’Neale and McDaniels who should be contributing spot minutes next season!

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks, I don’t think the Oladipo thing hurts them that much, figure Nav deals for another stud to play with Joel
Central: Raptors, LaDon Gola’s coaching acumen
Midwest: Jazz, I don’t expect them to fall off at all
Pacific: Suns, not sure anyone else is trying too hard to win this division rn

5. Who is the player you regretted most not trading for before they retired?

Um, idk, I’d say like 80% of SLN players have done a stint in Toronto at this point

6. What are the best and worst non-rookie contracts in the league?

Best - Prob Drummond

Worst - Prob Dwight

7. Recommend a trade for another team.

Dwight to the Rockets for free. Houston needs to stay afloat sans picks and can actually afford to pay that deal with Eddy and Blake dipping out

8. If you could go back in time and re-do the way you camped a player, who would it be and what would you do differently?

Not camping guys like Chris Copeland

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Need to watch hard knocks

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Just finished watching the bear on my flight, enjoyed it but kind of a slower season

Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Tatum and Isaac were definitely #1 and #2. I think Lauri can be a Dirk type scorer. Allen and Bam were great defensive big picks. Very surprised by the order of Ball, Fultz, White, Fox. Josh hart can be a very fun player. Really liked the John Collins pick.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
My goals coming into the offseason was to go all in and find a solid backup PG. I achieved both these goals (even if some deals weren't so great). I signed Jarrett Jack to an MLE, who has proven to be a good game manager (needed if Kyrie is out for periods of time). I also went all in with Griffin and Butler, who I think were both improvements at those positions. These deals also added me a 4th scorer, which will help with potentially no Kyrie for a period of time.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
My core is all 28 or under but not expecting any big TC movements. If anything, would love to see Power and Jack stay even.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks. Embiid, Turner, Gay.
Central: Pacers. Champs bringing back the same team.
Midwest: Timberwolves. I think we'll finally see KAT.
Pacific: Suns. Only team all-in.

5. Who is the player you regretted most not trading for before they retired?
I regret not trading Billups for a rookie contract TP (before he was good).

6. What are the best and worst non-rookie contracts in the league?
Best: Drummond, Boban, Lillard, Curry, Marvin, CJ
Worst: Dwight, LMA, Bogut, Monta, McCants

7. Recommend a trade for another team.
- Rose for McCants and picks
- Grizz trade Some PG prospects and picks for Curry

8. If you could go back in time and re-do the way you camped a player, who would it be and what would you do differently?
I would camp Whiteside differently knowing that he could've been a really good scorer potentially

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
I'm obsessed with Malik Nabers. Very happy the Giants didn't resign Barkley or McKinney. Don't sleep on Big Blue.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Just finished Presumed Innocent. Very good!

2014-15 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

I loved this year's draft. Not a lot of apparently awesome dudes at the top but so many interesting guys in the 10-20 range. Hopefully I picked up one of those second tier guys that turn out to be a stud.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Not bad. Would've liked to have more appetizing resigning offers from Otto and Vooch, but I had a lot of fun in the draft. Maybe I can pick up a fun MLE or LLE. Not quite sure what the goals are quite yet. Pretty dependent on whether I can find a trade for D Rose that makes sense for me.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Haven't had a TC that I can remember where I get one of those +4s from a youngin. I would love to see Fultz or Monk have ridiculous TCs I feel as though I deserve it. Otto Porter showing C potential but would like to see him somehow improve.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks. Potentially big TC coming for Embiid and Turner
Central: Raptors cuz Jwoo is him
Midwest: TC dependent on the Jazz fossils holding on and Giannis/KAT's TC. I'll say both Giannis and KAT make serious strides and begin their reign of terror on the west.
Pacific: Suns if Tyler can get DRose

5. Who is the player you regretted most not trading for before they retired?

Kirk Hinrich. One of my favorite players ever and tried to get him many of times but never worked out. You'd think it would've been pretty easy considering how mediocre he was.

6. What are the best and worst non-rookie contracts in the league?

Let me say first that I haven't been super plugged in the last few seasons and don't have a great pulse on this.

Worst: If Aldridge plays for the remainder of that deal, that one looks pretty bad.
Best: Boban's seems pretty good considering how great he is. Valanciunas looks to have a pretty good deal? Idk I don't feel like looking at every roster.

7. Recommend a trade for another team.

Raptors send: Tony Parker, Filler, 3 firsts, 500 rp
Clippers send: Derrick Rose

8. If you could go back in time and re-do the way you camped a player, who would it be and what would you do differently?

I can name plenty of players I shouldn't have super camped. Brandan Wright supercamp? Idiot. Multiple shitty NDL guys I wasted way too much RP on.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

I'm a terrible Bears fan but excited to see what comes of them this season.

Bulls: I was pumped about Matas. He's from my hometown and I've been following the dude for a while now. Love his cockiness and looks like he's been grinding this offseason. Sad to see Demar go but had to be done. The Giddler! I'm pumped about Giddey, would've liked to get one of OKC's picks but whatever. Lavine seemingly being untradable blows my mind and I think attaching draft capital to get rid of him would be idiotic. Obviously there are injury concerns but I feel like the media overhypes him to be this massive defensive liability which I really don't think is accurate having watched them religiously. He must be a disaster in the locker room or something going on behind the scenes that I don't have sight into. Hopefully he can come back, average high 20s a game, improve his stock and trade him mid-season. Lonzo playing in 5 on 5 scrimmages! No shot he stays healthy! But I would love to see it. Hope the team loses a lot of games.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Presumed Innocent was pretty good. Also am about midway through Sugar which I'm liking. Apple TV got the hits.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Didn’t really look at this draft so closely but I think the top 4 is going to be awesome

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Insanely busy with work this offseason but tried to swing a few deals that didn’t make it over the finish line. Hopefully shooting camp for Gay and strong TCs for all the young fellas leads to continued improvement

Goal for this season is to contend again. Lost game 7 to the eventual champs by one bucket so think we’ll be in the hunt again with Embiid, Turner, and Gay all getting better

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Would like to see Embiid’s rebounding + defense, Turner’s outside + rebounding, and Gay and Bayless’ outside improve

Fortunately all of those guys are either still on their rookie deals (with tons of potential), getting a pickem camp or otherwise getting RCs this offseason

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks. Won 55 games and everyone should get better this season
Central: Raptors. Tough to count them out
Midwest: Nuggets. Curry had a breakout season last year and it’d be fun to see him continue to ascend
Pacific: Suns. By default

5. Who is the player you regretted most not trading for before they retired?
Manu

6. What are the best and worst non-rookie contracts in the league?
Best: Conley
Worst: Dwight Howard

7. Recommend a trade for another team.

8. If you could go back in time and re-do the way you camped a player, who would it be and what would you do differently?
Wouldn’t have wasted a supercamp on Dan Dickau but hell if I don’t love supercamps

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
My brain is pretty much just Jalen Brunson and Malik Nabers highlights on loop at this point

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Still catching up on House of the Dragon but enjoying it so far

2014-15 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
I really liked Chris Boucher NRL coming out of the draft and his 2020 was great. Fascinated if Nick can unlock it in SLN. Brooks will prob be annoying af to play against down the road.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Pretty happy about getting out from Harris. Iguodala worries me a little from an outside perspective but it's the exact defensive depth we need. Need to land an FA Day 4/5 surprise or go swing a trade for more front court depth. Excited to see the boys take a step and curious if I can make the front court work to get the crazy back court there.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Need D Wade to hold on. Would like to see Dame and Klay take a step, Dame with the TO in particular

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Probably the Knicks. Think we can give them a run if some things break right though.
Central: Pacers- great team. Raps right there too.
Midwest: Jazz - core back
Pacific: Suns - TP big steps coming in the desert that's about to be crazy.

5. Who is the player you regretted most not trading for before they retired?
Olajuwon. There was almost a pairing of Hakeem and Shaq in south beach.

6. What are the best and worst non-rookie contracts in the league?
Lol @ the Bogut hate. It's a heavy deal but he's producing at an AAV far below some of the deals top front court guys are getting. Could easily win this category in two years but for now he's coming off 7th in the league in boards with 3.5 stocks a game.

Best: Damian Lillard - 50/50/90
Worst: John Wall, Dwight, or Chris Paul imo

7. Recommend a trade for another team.
I feel like Kipke has some blockbuster coming in Denver. I'll guess Melo to the Knicks for some chunky picks package and a juicy prospect.

8. If you could go back in time and re-do the way you camped a player, who would it be and what would you do differently?
Would change the camping for Dame probably to add some inside to juice the volume.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Pumped for Arsenal and Mizzou football. Best time of the year coming up imo.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Finally getting into Veep, been pretty good now that I'm older.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Hornets got some awesome luck jumping to 2 and rooting for Jack that Isaac turns into a stud.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Feeling good - it’s all about seeing some development from my younger guys and otherwise flipped Jimmy into Hayward. I thought I got good value out of that trade since the two players aren’t that dramatically different and I got two late DAL picks and a bunch of RP. Otherwise got my other guys back.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Hopefully to see some continued improvement from Dejounte, Clarkson, Barnes, Draymond, and Thompson. If those guys continue to make strides then I’m in a good spot. If not, it’s a different story…

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks. Largely the same team but another year of development for their guys.
Central: Pacers. Similarly largely the same team that won it all last season and will have Jrue the full season now.
Midwest: Jazz. They won the very tough division last year and it’s hard to see why they couldn’t do it again.
Pacific: Suns. Their new look should be a lot of fun.

5. Who is the player you regretted most not trading for before they retired?
I almost went for AK47 last season before tearing it down. Who knows, could have been what my Kyrie Pistons needed…

6. What are the best and worst non-rookie contracts in the league?
Tonger’s got Drummond on the best value contract for sure.
Worst has to be Dwight.

7. Recommend a trade for another team.
This is lazy because it’s not really a real trade suggestion. But I’d really love to see Lebron and Kyrie team up. I feel like there has to be something tied to Lebron in Kyrie’s stip. Philly / Dallas make it happen!

8. If you could go back in time and re-do the way you camped a player, who would it be and what would you do differently?
Honestly don’t have a lot of camp experience. I do debate though if I should have camped Draymond’s steals / blocks over rebounding though.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Sad that Haliburton got no playing time in the Olympics. The Cubs still suck. I’m optimistic for the Colts this season.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Havent been watching much lately.

GSW Offseason

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Sleepers:
JORDAN BELL drafted by the Utah Jazz
Inside - 57
Handles - 45
Off Reb - 72
Steals - 64
Post D - 73

Guess ill add more but i think OG is made for SLN. Josh Hart seems like a really fun build so good on the Kangz for the jumping the line. Hartenstein went too low. Everyone is sus about the 3 pgs at the top but im bullish. Lonzos shooting didnt look as bad as rondos from the scouting.

Busts: Too early to tell.

My draft: Tatum is cool. I once again slut myself out for a shooter w/ Luke Kennard when i should have just drafted Hartenstein or Bell. Dont worry, we are both questioning why i used ALL THREE of my second rounders on you guessed it, 2 PFs and another SG lmao. Someone stahp me!

Other drafts: Lakers did what i wished i couldve done in pairing Bam and Swipa. Bullets getting Allen and then somehow snagging DSmith at 26 is a really great draft. Bobby did amazing after not being in the draft for a while. Getting value at every pick and perhaps taking pacific NDL crown from Jesse and I in the near future.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

I truly didnt expect to get the first pick. I had mentally prepared for 3-5 but its really cool having tatum and im happy i have him to pair w/ Sabonis. The offseason as a whole I came in w/ really low expectations. Oladipo is a total shot in the dark but i think the two way ability is good for my team. I made that bid extremely late and entirely forgot to redo my Conley bid which was 14m;4 years; 10% increase. Really wanted Adams but 5.5m was too low of a starting value. Idk, Warriors are just vibing and having fun. Just want to see growth and Tatum pop off for ROY.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Every. Single. Player. ALL THE GAINS!

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Nets. Backcourt AND Frontcourt are elite.
Central: Hawks. Safe pick incase JWoo wants to “change it up”.
Midwest: Mavericks. Great offseason and hopefully Kyrie.
Pacific: Suns. Valley Boy Tyler was passed the torch by Jesse. Boban and Joker is scary.

5. Who is the player you regretted most not trading for before they retired?

No one.

6. What are the best and worst non-rookie contracts in the league?

I think everyone will say D12 as the worst but if you tossed him on the Rockets instead of Curry w/ the same contract, we would all have a different tune. Regardless, im not sure and too tired to check.

7. Recommend a trade for another team.

Joe, trade me Larry Sanders back for 500RP.

8. If you could go back in time and re-do the way you camped a player, who would it be and what would you do differently?

Rodney Hood probs needed some strength and steals instead of Inside. Shouldve made Blatche a PF and a disgusting shooter instead of camping him like a butt.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
