GMOTY - 2018-19

Post by Skillz »

GMs have until Mon, Oct 7 to vote. If you like, you may refer to the results of the leaguewide survey that I someone put out on GMOTY criteria.

-Anyone who votes gets 100 RPs.
-GMs get an additional 200 RPs for posting in this thread and advocating on behalf of a GM. Do not advocate on behalf of yourself!
-Do not vote for yourself.

Things to Consider:

-GM proactivity and creativity
-Success in drafting, trades, FA signings, general team building
-Production in the form of wins, losses and team stats
-Delta in team performance from year to year (or in this case, from draft to end of regular season).

Winner Gets:

-1,000 RPs
-Ability to add or subtract a year to any player's contract on your team. Must be done within one season.

Tiebreaker:

-If any two GMs are tied in 1st place in voting, we will do a ranked-choice procedure for them + anyone within 2 votes of the leader to determine the winner.

Pretty blah year where the top teams mostly stood pat.

Voted for Jordo, who successfully retooled without his picks, lost TP, brought tyus into superstardom and supercamped Jalen and is now an Uber contender

Hoff also did big ball stuff but won last year

Heimer woo merv nav Pankin steady as always

Ralph survived jameer’a retirement and still stayed on top

Matt and Clint were busy doing fun stuff and making playoff runs

Difficult choice this year. After close analysis I narrowed it down to the heat or the lakers. But then I remember the Heat scoops’d up a couple pod appearances. This makes Lakers my defacto nominee. Lakers did October proud, putting on his best ghost act! I nominate LAL for WGMOY.

Punishment must be he gets dressed up ina Halloween costume and go trick or treating any time in the next 10 days. Must be video taped. Must have powdered sugar all over his face as well.

I voted for Tyler. Hard to replace Livingston and have the balls to give the keys to Bonga but it worked to perfection. Backed himself into a corner salary wise but still ended up at the top of the division and ready to make a run of things.

Voted for Matt. He won 17 games last season, then made a bunch of moves (linsanity!) to jump to 46 wins, earning the 5 seed. A lot of solid seasons from the top teams though.

Voted Tyler for the Bonga find, retooled at the most important position coming off a championship and remains a contender for years to come
I am straight up not having a good time

I voted for Nav. I thought he got a steal in Okogie that will be the perfect third banana for a long time coming with Turner and JoJo. I know win total/differential and all is a factor but trading his best player, still winning the division, and extending his window get the nod from me.

Matt did a great job cheaply putting together a playoff team without his picks.

I liked Clinton’s big ball trade for Jrue and think with some more Tatum progression and adding a big this offseason, the Warriors are set up for success for a long time coming.

This is a really tough year with so many deserving GMs. Tyler retooled after a championship and was still a top 2 team in the West. Jordo also retooled and lost Tyus for a chunk of the season and still didn’t lose ground - DC wizard. Matt had the biggest year over year change from 17 to 46 wins. Ralph lost Jameer and continued the success in Utah.

However, in the end, I voted for Jordo!

As much as I don’t want to vote for him becuase I have his picks, I voted for Matt. Turned the big fat tank into a fifth seed with a slew of moves. Shoutouts to everyone else

matt has my vote. team expectations were at an all time low after the shit show in chicago last year. matt made various low cost moves that left him in plus plus value territory. not trading me mahinmi at the deadline nearly lost him this vote but alas i give. built a really fun team with an extra gear (linsanity) and had some of the best value bigs in the league. more teams need to take swings when they’re down but most certainly not out so while he’s not a contender it was still most impressive.

jordo also very much deserves this award but grabbing the 5th seed in the east after being a likely lotto pick was the kicker vote for matt. matt luck ? maybe but i say not - you don’t just stumble to the 5th seed !
