GMOTY 2019-20
GMOTY 2019-20
GMs have until Mon, Nov 11 to vote. If you like, you may refer to the results of the league-wide survey that someone put out on GMOTY criteria.
-Anyone who votes gets 100 RPs.
-GMs get an additional 200 RPs for posting in this thread and advocating on behalf of a GM. Do not advocate on behalf of yourself!
-Do not vote for yourself.
Things to Consider:
-GM proactivity and creativity
-Success in drafting, trades, FA signings, general team building
-Production in the form of wins, losses and team stats
-Delta in team performance from year to year (or in this case, from draft to end of regular season).
Winner Gets:
-1,000 RPs
-Ability to add or subtract a year to any player's contract on your team. Must be done within one season.
Tiebreaker:
-If any two GMs are tied in 1st place in voting, we will do a ranked-choice procedure for them + anyone within 2 votes of the leader to determine the winner.

I think there are two main candidates for me:
Joe went worst-to-almost first with a combo of FA moves and trades - going from 11 wins to the best point differential in the league is pretty crazy. As I've said before, I don't attribute a ton of value to the FA signings because that's primarily luck, but I thought he gave up a lot for Whiteside / Bledsoe / Covington and was proven wrong.
GX flipped over his team and added PG / Kyrie to get himself out of purgatory. He made some nice moves around the edges too, picking up Curry in FA and Poeltl to solidify his front court going forward. Nice to see the Lakers in the mix again!
Others receiving votes are Ralph for the FVV trade that kept his championship chances alive while Oden / Marvin / Hefty are still going and Jesse for turning over his entire roster as only Jesse can do and coming away with 50 wins (probably a much more legitimate candidate for me if his team kept pace at the top of the West.
In the end my vote goes to Joe, hard to argue with a complete flip in one season from worst to first in terms of point differential, even if there's a lot of FA luck involved. He does lose points for trying to argue that the Looney deal was some kind of genius as if everyone else wasn't offering similar deals AND as if he wasn't signing him to trade him

Xtract me. Acquired the best player in the league. Made the Lakers relevant for the first time in a decade with their second or so best record ever. Addressed some depth throughout the season. Rodney Hood is apparently sick, albeit probably not worth Herro sick. He fixed Paul George and now we get Pandemic P!
Newest GM goes for it and hits a home run, nearly wins the west and has the best player. Sign me up for Xtracting GMOTY
P.S. still support @Jordo ESPY idea over this nonsense

WGMOY award goes to Tankin Pankin!
my man got absolutely pillaged as Joe's celtic luck stole his star. Pankin followed this up with a stellar tank campaign. being largely inactive in FA and offseason and making no trades that i can remember. He didnt do any pods and idk if hes done an article this century. Itll be really impressive when he wins the #1 lotto odds and takes home Ant edwards. With two superstars entering their prime, Pankin tanked.
punishment - you must add a 20mm one year contract addition to any player on your team. You can also elect to add 30mm to the same player to unlock the ability to do the same to James Harden. You must also wax your entire body and enter a Muscle Man competition by the end of the year. failure to do so will result in -90 potential for one of your stars.
You must also smuggle a twinkie in your speedo and eat it on stage while flexing your tank mucles.

I went GX over Joe. Joe's turnaround was pretty incredible, but did require some luck in FA with Harden and Looney. GX put his balls on the line with the Kyrie trade, then made a few more to smooth the edges of his roster to be a powerhouse in the west.
Sonicks, Merv, Jesse, and Tonger deserve some love for some of their creative moves during the season

FOR THE LAND
My top 4 in no particular order are Tonger, Joe, Jesse, and George. Ultimately going with Xtractor for pulling the trigger on a couple trades that vaulted him to the top of a competitive Pacific. Joe, Jesse, and Tonger close runner ups. Joe for landing a couple difference makers in FA and then making trades to sure up the edges of his team. Tong and Jesse for retooling but still remaining super competitive and acquiring pieces that lineup with their cores timeline
I voted for Jesse. He went from a lotto team with a bunch of youth to once again pivoting and being one of the best teams in the league.
