SLNs ESPYS - an idea

As previously described in my making SLN great again article, an ESPYs style format of the GMOTY award could be pretty cool/fun and involve everyone rather than the playoff teams/top 8 teams/ hwoever the hell it changes year in and year out. I spent some time thinking of different awards then divided those awards into categories for where they fit. I don't really think this is a feasible replacement for the GMOTY award and I am not sure how it would work in actuality. Maybe a bit of RP for those who win the awards, but it could be a fun little thing for all of us to vote on or put into a survey and then vote on. Anyways, see the below for the categories and sub categories.

League Involvement - This would essentially be anything that is involving moves/actions a GM takes in a year. Most are positive, but I left one in because I find it funny.

• Meme of the Year - Self Explanatory, we dub many memes the Meme of the year, but if someone were to compile each one each season for us to vote on, I think it would be pretty hilarious, as well as giving rightful credit to those that make us laugh and smile within the competitive landscape of the league

• Most Mutually Beneficial Trade of the year -the best trades in my eyes are the ones that work for everyone and improve either both teams or the outlook of both teams. These would be a player for player type trade most likely.

• Most League Altering Trade - Superstars on the move? Multiple picks on the move, big ass trades that we find are cool? Lets vote on which one altered the landscape of the league the most!

• Best Leftover FA addition - Kind of a silly one but sometimes leftovers can have a huge impact on a team with little cap space.

• Best Article of the year - the Initial list can be sorted out by the most likes, then we can vote on it?

Team Awards - This would be for awarding teams of all shapes and sizes

• Best YoY Turnaround - Self explanatory

• Tankiest Tanker - Maybe not the best, but Nick likes to joke about WGMOTY. and Tankers do tank, though not super egregiously, right ashes? Why only reward good teams?

• Deepest Team - depth is cool yo!

• Stingiest Defense - sure we could just look at OPPG or OFG, but why note vote on it. Pace matters too with some of those metrics

• Most Injury Riddled Team - Injuries suck and can ruin a season. So lets give a little RP for those we feel bad about. Its the season of giving after all!

Player Awards - Sure there are the Reg Season awards, but we should celebrate the fake players more than your typical first team, all defense, and all rookie stuff.

• Most Improved Player - An IRL award that the system cannot compute. We can look at that history and the Year to Year progression and put folks up to a vote. I think this one would be the most fun to look at.

• Best Name - We got some fun names in the NDL which folks have pointed out a lot, but why not open it up the SLN? I'm voting Thon Maker all day!

• Best SLN vs IRL - This category is to vote on which SLN player is exceeding their real life counterpart the most. Something i've always been fascinated by

• Worst SLN vs IRL - The reverse of the above category. Which awesome IRL player sucks the most in SLN. Would be a fun study

• Most Overrated Player - Self Explanatory

• Most Underrated Player - Also self explanatory

Though I have zero clue how we would put this all together, this is just another fun little wrinkle we could make. I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas for other Espy style awards we could hand out. Merry Christmas and Hanukah Eve to all who celebrate!
