2011-12 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Tony Wroten is going to be a wagon. I have spoken. He’ll have warts. He won’t be perfect. But he’ll be a wagon and a very fun special player.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Devastated Jamo retired. TBD how FA goes. I think we are lucky to have TA as depth because he can step up and play the 3 right away which allows us to replace depth rather than replace a starter…but its tricky

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Lookin to Steph and Boogie to keep their dance goin. I wonder how much more natural potential/development Steph has in the tank. He has really broken out and taken a huge step forward this season, but I feel a bit greedy in admitting that I hope there’s some juice left there.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: The Knicks. Crawford. Bosh. Rip. Granger. Can Lebron stop them alone? Will the bullets hang around? I’ll bet on The bockers.
Central: Bulls. Lazy pick but the defending champs aren’t getting any less scary. Tony Parker’s family lives in public housing.
Midwest: GIVE ME. MY MUFUCKIN. THEME MUSIC. I’m still not sure how it’s going to come together, but by hook or by crook THE NUGGETS WILL WIN THE MIDWEST. Nah idk. But this was hopefully more fun to read than some vanilla Grizz prediction. The correct answer is the Grizz.
Pacific: Blazers . Can’t believe I’m not picking the Sonics to pick the Pacific. Also the Suns are sneaky (Mike Conley Fan Club VP here), but ultimately I’m not going to pick against Jameer and the boys.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Gotta be the Dirk trade. Can’t believe the cap king finally swung the big German out of town, but it was on some pretty great value. Tons of assets going both ways. Drop and Dirk are lovely, but Oden Arroyo and Waiters and the 17 pistons 1st leave Nick with some interesting pieces

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)
CHEF. MF. CURRY. I certainly hope it’s Steph, at least! I certainly fear it will be Kawhi! And his rookie stats suggest that if he has 99 potential he may well indeed be the league’s new grim reaper (sorry KD) .

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.
DJ Mbenga. Named for the mbang he clearly received in the head when he was younger—this man’s head is seriously the wrong shape!
Image

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)
JBurns—what’s your plan for the Hornets? Is Yao going to shrivel and die in Charlotte?

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
The Chiefs are simply a delight. Pat is a legend for continually redoing his deal to free up space. Lisan Al Gaib!

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
About to start the Billy Walters autobiography which I’ve seen highly rated in many places. Excited to check it out.

Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
THRILLED with Dame and Beal. Future is bright in the backcourt in Miami. Dame/Wall/Beal/Klay. One of them is a super sub.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Decent. Dame and Beal are dope. KG was an overpay but I couldn't camp everyone with those picks. Should've gotten some RP out of it tbh but was on the clock and didn't want to hold up the draft. Need to shore up the FC with a trade to flip the switch but have a ton of cap space moving forward so will have to be the right piece.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Massive TC. Would like to see the core 4 take a step. Same with Faried. He's sneaky important to the roster. Wall handles need to better. Want Dame/Klay outside game to step forward.. KG to hold on for another year and make us better.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: I'll just guess Philly because of Lebron lol.
Central: Bulls - Matt coming back for more
Midwest: Nuggets- Kip! Flipping the switch!
Pacific: Blazers - squad still looking very good in the pacific northwest

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Probably this Rockets trade for Blake Griffin. Shoot maybe it's my overpay for KG lol.

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)
It's probably AD but I'll go with Dame Time.

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)
Probably myself. Let me get settled after moving and I'll hop on with the boyzzzz

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Arsenal win yesterday was incredible. Blast of a season, can't wait to see a game in person there in May. Mizzou basketball sucks. The Blues suck. Mizzou football season will be nice.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Monopoly Deal is honestly fun. Great game. Quick.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Stoked I could trade up to snag Hummel as the first pick in the second round. His draft notes were very impressive to me and I hope he can develop into a terrific role player for our future.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Hummel mentioned above is great. Hoping to see some gains for Hawes this TC. Upset that none of my guys re-signed on Day 1 but staying positive (like Roger the Alien's super helpful persona: Super Positive, Roland Chang).

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Need Hawes to show gains on the boards for sure. Hoping Iggy can get his steals up a bit.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: B76ers - I think we will be able to build the depth needed around our core 5 for this season and finish at the top... hopefully.
Central: Bulls - TP re-signing and retaining Dally, Griffo, and Caron... get outta here with that noise lol.
Midwest: Nugs - Looking forward to see how these young bloods develop even further this offseason. They seem poised for big things.
Pacific: Blazers - Jameer and Dwight are too good to be slowed down.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Dirk and Diop heading to Detroit!

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)

Steph because why shouldn't he be if camped appropriately lol. Could be a better TP.

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.

Ugliest NAME of a CBB IMO is Kevin Pittsnogle, who played for WVU with Mike Gansey in the mid-Thousands. Still fucking terrible at posting pics on this though.

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)

Me - I have hot takes obvi but haven't been hit up for one in a minute.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

HUGE gains for the Birds this season... can't stop looking at their "new-look" roster. Not loving the outcome of some of these spring training games for the Yanks but its spring training and they will get it going. Ers have been struggling a bit but hoping they can right the ship soon.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Finished Avatar (live action) was great and I felt it was very in line with the OG. Also finished a re-watch of Community (Holla!). The GF and I watched all the Marvel movies a couple of years ago and now are watching the X-Men/Deadpool movies which have been fire through 3.

2011-12 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Felt really fortunate with how the draft shook out for us just from a roster building perspective. I was holding out hope Draymond might make it to 7 and am really excited to have him. Definitely not without risk but the upside with him feels very much worth the dive, and he was a clear positional/role fit for me and I have time and resources to (hopefully) develop him the right way. Bazemore felt like a fun mystery box and I like Lamb a lot as an NDL stash, so I was pretty happy with how it shook out since this was a huge opportunity for us (even though it was a weird and difficult draft).

Other guys I liked beyond the obvious were Fournier, Henson, O'Quinn, Waiters, Plumlee... super curious what will become of Royce White, I scouted him but got thrown by the stip thing, I might have taken him at 12 for shits had I not gotten Draymond.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

It's been quiet but I felt like the draft went well, which was the main task. I don't want to commit too many resources into win-now moves until I see how Rubio's TC pans out but I'm hopeful this can be an accelerated rebuild. No expectations for this season, just going to let the player development dictate whether I compete for a playoff spot or continue to be patient.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Rubio's TC coupled with his supercamp creates a scenario where he could make a huge leap. That's the most consequential thing for us. Obviously would like to see my rookies all get off to great starts. This is a big third TC for Gordon Hayward who wasn't ready for real minutes last season — I really need some wing scoring, he looked like a good prospect coming out of the draft, and I'm hoping he can be part of the future core with whatever potential juice he has left. But I'll take growth wherever I can get it since we're young and still figuring out the personnel long term.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers because LeBron
Central: Bulls, I don't think these guys are going anywhere yet
Midwest: Nuggets, I think Kipke will figure it out and think the Grizz take a small step back sans Pau
Pacific: Blazers unless Quady takes a step back intentionally

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

I wasn't surprised that Nick traded Dirk, but I was surprised that Oden was traded for Dirk.

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)

KD, I think he's already pretty close, he's basically perfect

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.

Image

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)

Literally everyone should pod more, I feel like I have the team on my back rn and I would like to listen more and talk less lol. Happy to get people involved, just text me if you want to pod (albeit I will be busy as fuck this month).

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

I have cautious Cubs optimism.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

I bought Stellaris a few weeks ago and it's become my new time wasting game, if you like Civ it's basically Civ in space.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
I'm really happy that I got Drummond. Frankly if it were between him and Beal I'm not sure who I would have picked. Other than the top 4 picks, I think Bazemore, Thomas Robinson, and Satoransky will end up being excellent picks - all guys I wanted to pick myself!

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
So far, not so good. KLove got matched and whiffed on everyone I bid on on day 2/3. At this point, looking forward to the 2013-14 offseason.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Still weighing different options, but for each of the developmental guys:
- Jimmy: Supercamp next offseason
- Reggie Jackson: Camped last offseason, may camp shooting/handles again
- Tristan Thompson: NDL and no camp yet, may camp handles/strength this offseason
- Drummond: Will likely wait and supercamp
- KOQ, Quincy Acy, Will Barton: Will NDL and observe development before camping
- Evan Turner: Likely not camping

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers... Lebron
Central: Bulls... the champs
Midwest: Grizz... even without Pau the team is still stacked
Pacific: Blazers.. with Sonics reloading not sure the rest of the teams have the juice

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Pau signing with the Kings! Leaving a proven winning situation to join a completely new squad. Him and MWP are gonna be an interesting duo!

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)
Anthony Davis. It's his destiny to be the best player in the league in some world... and if it's not real life then it's SLN

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.
I hate to do this to him... but he was one of my favorite players growing up.

And we drafted him right before TMac. Sigh.

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)
I don't think I'm qualified to answer this question because I myself have never done a pod (yet!).

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Since all we talk about is basketball... I'll go with a different favorite team... TOTTENHAM!!!! Really proud of the season so far, I think we have a bright future. And we could determine the league with our run against pool, city, and gunners (fuck em).

Hit me up if you're a Spurs fan!

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
I'll go with an anti recommendation. Did anyone actually enjoy Killers of the Flower Moon?

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Pretty bad draft, especially between 6-15, so I am curious what surprises Ashes gave us in the middle of the draft. I really want to see what Royce White's stipulation is. I scouted him and have regrets over not taking the plunge for a KANG-type playa.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Feel great! We stole the best Free Agent on the market, made a couple of fun draft picks, and brought back all of our core players. Our general cap/talent/pick situation also gives us the ability to chase any direction which I enjoy.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

I'd like to see one of Isaiah Thomas or Brandon Jennings separate themselves and develop into a franchise Point Guard.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks - Chris Bosh is a cheat code
Central: Bucks - I keep picking them to win the title
Midwest: Rockets - hot take. I like post-SC Blake.
Pacific: Kings - get ready.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

I didn't really understand the Blake Griffin move. I'm not a huge fan of that player archetype but it still feels like the Warriors have been rebuilding for ~8 seasons. I don't understand the plan.

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)

2011-12 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Exciting top 4 but kinda mid after that. Interested to see what Draymond turns into. Feel like he fits that weird utility mold that could end up hurting your team with lots of TOs and inefficient shooting. Heat are in a fun spot, curious if scoops stockpile of young guards stay in Miami?

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

I am ecstatic to get Blake after a month of harassing Clint! Think Blake is a perfect fit for my team and the right guy to slot in with Eddy and Tmac. Hope this pushes us back into contention after a thoroughly disappointing season. Not a lot of wiggle room for more deals due to lack of cap space / assets.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

BLAKE BLAKE BLAKE! Supercamp inbound and I have never been more hyped for a players TC. Still deciding on how I wanna camp him but am leaning towards all offense. Other than Blake, just looking to hold the line.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers - ***if/when LeBron moves back to PG
Central: Bucks - KD is cheat code
Midwest: Rockets - 🚀🚀🚀
Pacific: Blazers - MVP + (unofficial) DPOY

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Scoops trading two firsts for an expiring KG surprised me. I get that he needed to sell off some picks cause he had so many, but KG will be gone before this team is ready to win. Picking up some RP coulda been productive for all the looming camps!

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)

Steph. He is a lock to break the scoring record, no doubt in my mind. Only thing that could hold him back is lackluster defense? Maybe...

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.

Bobby, when are you getting back to trading all your picks and leveraging yourself?

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Jayden Daniels is going to be the greatest QB of all time (unless we trade up for Caleb then he will be the greatest)! Terps suck, Caps suck, Zards suck. The usual

Dune 2 was sick in IMAX. Poor Things is incredible. Project Hail Marry if you like space nerd books.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever. I think Satoransky was worth a flier at #23, he played solid minutes in the combine games and he can start at PG.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season? We'll see, trying to shake things up a bit. I'd like to at least get first round home court again.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team? My core is still young, hoping for more incremental improvements from LaMarcus and KD to keep us competitive.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Sixers - Lebron
Central: Bulls - TP
Midwest: Nuggets - Steph
Pacific: Blazers - Jameer

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron) KD, because I'm a homer!

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations. Watching the original ATLA for the first time, it's fiya. Three Body Problem is a solid book I'm finishing rn.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Did not have a pick in this one but I thought the draft got pretty flat after the first 5 or so picks. I thought Middleton's combine was extremely interesting and there is an argument he should have been drafted higher. But also might be fool's gold, fun fun! Tyshawn Taylor was a fun scoop by Hoff in the second. I have a feeling there will be a random guy who pops insanely in this draft like Kris Clack.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Offseason has been a success so far! We retained Ray Allen, K Love, and Gortitties will skrrrting the hard cap. Excited to bring the squad back and hopefully be a true contender. Goals are to win the division and secure home court in the playoffs. Me thinks I will make a brash trade this season and leverage myself into the trump administration.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
NEED A BIG TC, BABY! Would love to see a +2 in the areas that matter for Kevin Love. He is super close to A outside and rebounding, both of those popping would be simply a delight.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Sixers and Lebron James but this division is more interesting than ever. Magic are spicy, Knicks have the best big in the league, celtics are coming out of the tank, and the heat have a lot of young talent. Bullets need to find a way to replace OJ but Manu is still a cheat code.
Central: Bucks. Tony Parker is washed and Matt is on a bender celebrating a championship, getting complacent. KD scoring title incoming.
Midwest: Nuggets. Calling this before TC but a big TC would obviously really help them out. Grizz will still be a 50+ win team without Pau.
Pacific: Kings. Great FA, a big ole sack of assets and some young prospects. Transfer Portal is going to be in his bag.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Nick trading Dirk without getting his picks back! We have gone through legitimately 5 seasons of cap and it finally happened.

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)
This is actually a pretty tough question and with how random TCs can be (see Jameer Nelson) it feels like a fool's errand to try to predict. I will go with Kawhi for the vibes and for Jordo.

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.
Will circle back on this. Need to think of a good one.

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)
Bobby. We need more Bobby content. I would ask him what's his plan with J Lin and if he plans to commit to an inside offense or not. I'd also ask him about his tik tok account.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Quest for the three peat has begun! Hollywood Brown is LIT!!!

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Rewatched Arcane on netflix. Really beautiful animated series. Incredibly well done.
