2011-12 Offseason Questionnaire

Post by bobby »

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Pretty sick draft at the top. Think Khris will be a very good pick for Jordo after those combine games. I think Royce White will be a sleeper stud. Notes were very interesting.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Happy to have D Rose back. Not sure I had to throw him the 11% but am happy to not have to match someone and save some RP. Looking to get to be more competitive and am willing to throw some picks at the problem. Amare might be a solid player in a balanced or inside offense.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Think D Rose should have quite a bit of improvement left in him, as well as Demar a year after his SC. Will regularly camp Lin and would like to see if he could be a somewhat serviceable 2. Debating whether to regular camp Vooch or SC him but don't have much RP.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks
Central: Bulls
Midwest: Grizzlies
Pacific: Suns

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Generally was surprised by dudes taking MLEs instead of much larger deals elsewhere. I know now that this is sorta an FBB dynamic for certain players. Seems strange though.

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)

Steph. Already 28.4 ppg and you just know he's not near his peak. His outside has to get to A+ and I expect his 3p% to be like 48% on a ton a volume in a few years.

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)

I definitely need to catch up on pods so excuse me if he's been on recently. Would like to hear from dmorrell. His real life hoop knowledge impressed me when I listened to a pod he was featured on.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

I've been a pretty bad bears fan but I choose the bulls as the sole team I allow to hurt me deeply. I'm pretty pumped to watch them next year with this new offense. caleb, swift, moore and keenan allen (can I throw kmet in there?) could be a sick offensive core. Knowing the bears though, it more than likely will be disastrous.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Crushed season 2 of full swing in like two days. Was solid, maybe not as good as first season. I thought Griselda was fuckin awesome. In need of a new show right now.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
dion waiters gonna be Kittles. AD gonna be the best defensive big since Ben Wallace.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Depressing. Pistons did what all gms did and put a massive first offer together and walked out with my pride and join. i suddenly have found that the taste of SLN... just isnt the same. End of an era. My goals? i have no goals. I am free.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Dion gonna start his ascension with a huge under the radar camp not seen in ratings/

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Lebrons - Lebron
Central: Pistons - Dirk & Diop
Midwest: Nuggets - Rise of Chef Bogey is upon us
Pacific: Sonics - Trailblazers are the easy answer but i think Lemony Snicket is coming. Sonicks are Deep and Stocky. Theyll win some games.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
That Oden didnt end up in Jersey.

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)
Dion waiters is going to go on one of the most historic TC runs we have seen. By the end of his rookie contract TC/Super camp experience, hes already going to be an allstar. by the time he is halfway through his 7yr 7mm flat second contract, hell be DWade with Rebounding.

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.
Greg Oden

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)
Spurs

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Jayhawks finna get upset R1. Chiefs 3x peat? Royals are wine drunk in the cellar. Major golf season... too bad golf sucks.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Shogun is a banger on HULU

2011-12 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Paid 0 attention to the draft, but think Drummond is gonna be good. AD seems like a gamewrecker though, happy for Steven that the lotto balls finally bounced his way.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

We lost J-Rich via FA, but somehow snagged Hedo on the MLE! Hedo is basically the superpowered version of J-Rich, so barring a bad TC, we should be the same team or better this coming season - and getting Hedo on the MLE instead of JRich on a 8.5m deal means I can feasibly frontload TP's deal, which should pay dividends in a few seasons.

Goal is to repeat! But with Dirk and Diop coming into the Central, I think it'll continue to be an uphill battle.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

JIMMER! Great preseason 2 last year for Jimmer after a solid +1 to outside in Year 1 without any RCs. If he can show one more good year of improvement, he'll be easily worth the super camp next offseason.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers. Just play Lebron at PG Dmo!!
Central: Bulls, but Bucks could easily unseat us
Midwest: Nuggets. Losing Pau is huge for the Grizz, and think Steph takes a big leap forward this season.
Pacific: Trail Blazers. Sonics finally taking a step back should propel the Blazers and Jameer to the division crown

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Can't believe Hedo signed with us for the MLE. Had sign and trade offers in for him at bigger numbers that i had to pull because I wanted to frontload TP, but none as big as the Bullets offer - and I know other teams had offers in at bigger numbers too.

Honorable mention to RB shaking up the league with the Oden deal! I think Oden is mini-Duncan, and the league knows how I feel about Duncan. Tantalizing defensively but bad enough offensively to prevent you from ever being a true contender.

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)

Anthony Davis. Two way bigs >>> and two way bigs with 100 potential >>>>>>>>>

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.

I mean, just look at Jesse's profile picture...

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)

So many! Loved hearing RB when he joined the league, would love to see a Jack / RB collab pod (maybe I can make it happen). It's also been a while since we've had the Old Sim Man on the horn!

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Well, the Bears just traded the best Bears QB of my lifetime for actual peanuts. I obviously wanted them to trade Fields, but I don't understand why Poles needed to do it at the absolute pit of Fields' value. Just wait till someone gets hurt (or for Aaron Rodgers to run for Vice President) and charge a premium! I wouldn't even hate starting the season with Fields and trying to make him look good and giving Caleb a bit more time before we throw him out there.

Bulls are literally so horny for the play in every year. That's about our ceiling until the Lavine contract runs out.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
New curb season is amazing but bittersweet since its the last one. Also been rewatching Scrubs as my sleep show - it holds up pretty well.

2011-12 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

In an organized effort to sway the fates and reposition cosmic energies, SwampNets staffers took part in ritual sacrifice at Brigantine Island. Yup, four days of sacrifice bunting – one participant told ownership, “I love bunting so much, I wanna marry it and start a family. Pregnant bunting, get a load of that! Sorry, this weekend seriously changed my life.” We organized a staff softball game, but everyone was so enamored with the whole “bunting” of it all that no one reached base for the first 14 innings. We’ve got BUNT FEVER, and the only fever is MORE KETAMINE.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Anthony Davis learned all of “Party Rock Anthem” at camp. You may say to yourself, “yikes, that has nothing to do with SLN basketball, and that notwithstanding, it took all summer to learn the most lyrically simplistic song on the radio?” I would then say to yourself, “you’re a fucking idiot, Redfoo’s writing is wonderfully understated, and it’s just as much about the words he DOESN’T use, like jazz, except ‘Party Rock Anthem’ is better than every jazz song.” And ALSO, AD learned the dance moves from the music video. +10 POT (partyrock over time).

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Kemba couldn’t remember the lyrics “half-black, half-white, domino / gainin' money, Oprah dough” if his life depended on it. Which it does, by the way, because we failed to answer that Swampstress’ riddles three. Keep him in your Party Rock Prayers, which is worth twice as much as regular prayers.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Sixers. Bron is entering IRL peak hilarity off the floor, I hope everyone has seen those uncovered 2012 IG posts that have been going around…up watching a lil Tom & Jerry…

Central: Bulls. From over the mountain there comes a call…”IT’S MATT’S YEAR,” the wind cries out before audibly queefing. Ya, the wind is a woman, was that ever up for debate?

Midwest: Grizzlies. Josh seems like a delightful guy and genuinely so very good at this, which is all to say I’m morbidly curious to see what happens if he loses another Finals G7.

Pacific: Blazers. Also IRL off-floor hilarity: Dwight Howard, by his own admission, has seen the moving Finding Nemo more than 200 times. That interview was a while ago, too, so let’s ballpark it at a safe 250-325 as of this writing.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Can’t say I saw Gasol going to Sacramento. What I can say is that I saw Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. It’s 2012!

6. A lot of young talent entered the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)

“I dunno, House, is it crazy to think Anthony Davis will be in the “Tittyfucking His Way Through the Competition” tier? There’s something going on in the Swamp. They pass the smell test, it’s very smelly over there. We need a 30 for 30 on these Swamp guys. AD is like Michael from The Wire – baby faced, will need to set his watch to adjust for Nut-Churning Time, but I’m scared of that kid. They should’ve put Cornbread Maxwell in Boogie Nights!” - SLN analyst Sill “The Sports Lady” Bimmons

7. Two big uglies joining the league as well, in Anthony Davis and Khris Middleton. Hideous. Do some research and post a picture (and name and brief background) of the ugliest player you can find in NBA/CBB history.

This player is the nastiest skank bitch I've ever met. Do not trust him. He is a fugly slut.

8. What GM have you not heard from in a while that you want to hear on a pod? What question would you ask them? (extra credit: get them to join a pod this season)

I wish we could get more out of Jeremy here. I’d ask him, “do you remember when we ate at Brooklyn’s Lychee Nut like every other day back in 2016? Wasn’t that so fun?!”

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Sergio de la Pava’s “A Naked Singularity,” cannot emphasize just how hard this book rips.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Didnt seem like many surprises and I just drafted some second rounders to fill out my roster on the cheap, so nothing crazy from my perspective

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Really hyped to see how Dirk and Diop can do with Lou Will and Kyrie. Kyrie's jump in TC was great too so hopefully he's ready to play with these guys

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Doing this is a little late so TC is already in - but it came in about as well as I could have hoped. Kyrie +3 was great. Lou Will to A+ Outside is amazing. Dirk and Diop held up well (just -1 defense for each which I can live with). Ibaka +2 not bad. Odom -3 is not great but -2 of that was inside / outside so hopefully just means he'll be a little less prone to shoot and dish it to the other scorers on the team when he's in. all in all, it was a solid TC for the Pistons and I'm excited to see them play this season.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers; they still have Lebron...
Central: Bulls; TP is the man now
Midwest: Nuggets - Grizz losing Pau hurts
Pacific: Blazers - should be great again this year

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Nick letting me take Dirk off his hands. My team's pretty quirky with guys on basically three timelines with Dirk / Diop getting older, Lou Will mid-career, and Kyrie just starting out. But I just really want to try to compete and see some playoffs action in Detroit...

6. A lot of young talent entering the league at the top of these last few drafts. 7 years from now, who will be the best player in the league and why? (Lebron will be 35 and hopefully slowing down, but maybe not...just don't say Lebron)
KD - he's looking amazing

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Pacers are destined to flame out in the first round of the playoffs with these injuries. Love the Colts move for Flacco as a solid backup in the context of a potentially injury-prone Richardson (and just for the leadership qualities). United with the huge FA Cup QF win against Liverpool. Not too bad for my teams at the moment.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Finally got around to watching Killers of the Flower Moon. Meh.
