The Future of SLN Drafts

The 2029 Draft will be the final "real" draft.

Moving forward, there will be some "real" players, but the majority of the draft will not.

Or will it?

I'm going to poll the league on this just because I want to do whatever keeps y'all most interested/engaged. So I have a few options:

-Fake. My preference, as is known, is fake players. I make detailed backstories/profiles for fake players and generally put a lot of work into it. It's fun for me, but I realize it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. I planned to change things up a bit when it came to fakes, since making the file itself is infinitely faster, so it would include some fun, extra features around the draft. More interactive during the season.

-Retro. My lowest preference, however, I understand the appeal. I am more than willing to do this if the majority of the league wants it. We'd probably start somewhere in the 70s. It would follow the same pattern as real drafts have followed until now.

-Retro Re-imagining. Something I've been toying with, but not sure if it should be considered. I will put my own spin on retro, making it far less faithful to real life. Could be considered the middle ground between the aforementioned options if you want some spice but still want names you know.

All in for retro full, allows us to develop relationships with / context for actual NBA names. Creates a trove of real-world reference points to pull from, and takes this interior thing back to the external a bit

Voted for Retro Re-imagining, but don't feel strongly - I think the most important factor is what you (ashes) will be most excited about / fulfilled putting work into since you're the engine of the league. Only answered the poll this way because that's my own personal preference with that factor held constant, which I feel like is what you are asking for, but very happy with all fake as well. Only reason I like the retro aspect is because it was fun in the other league to learn a bit of NBA history through FBB

This may sound backwards but the cognitive dissonance of having real retro players mixed in playing against guys who are currently 15 years old bothers me, I’d much rather use my imagination (and let ashes cook freely)
