I voted for Nolan. I did not expect the rockets to have the season they did. The blake trade was fun, ballsy, and made his team a finals competitor.

Nick had a great GM year too. He made some great, difficult moves without getting his picks back. His point differential to me indicated some of it was luck for this season.

voted for Nick - I was on the other side of the big Dirk / Diop for Oden move that has seemingly set him up for continued success (and me, not so much but it was a fun season). he's also been a major Pistons cheerleader this season on the back of that trade so I'm returning the favor here!

Weak year for GMOTY because it was an inactive season and we all suck! All of the contenders are in the West imo:

Went:
1. Kipke
2. Nolan
3. Nick

-----------
Houston and Denver made the 2 best trades of the season and ran laps around the rest of the league this year. Not totally sure how to separate these two (the Rockets actually had a better NetRTG than the Nuggets this year! and Kipke stankz) but ultimately I just think Monta is a better and more versatile player than Blake so I think that move will pay even more dividends down the line. I didn't vote for kipke last season because i was skeptical of the melo/kawhi value, but melo has also raised his game to true superstardom so he gets hindsight pts for me.

Nick is low key (high key?) the master of the retool and I love that he stuck to his guns and still has yet to throw in the towel (while still being active on the trade market).

Jordo made the best sequence of moves in the off-season and should be the favorite going into next season.

For me, was between Nolan and Kipke, and ultimately went with Nolan. Both of them won their blockbuster trades handily (Blake and Monta), but I think the delta between Nolan's future championship prospects before his blockbuster and after is greater than the Nuggets delta before and after theirs - there's something to be said for Kipke having set up a really nice team structure over the course of a few years of rebuilding, so he was starting from a great pile of champ equity at the beginning of the year, but I still think Nolan's move was a bigger coup. The Rockets were likely headed for the lotto without their pick and ended up with the best differential in the league, and moreover Clint had clearly said he had no intention of trading his two stars and wouldn't even reply to offers. So clearly there was some masterful GMing from the Rockets to get that Blake deal through, and Kipke took advantage of the momentum Nolan created to establish leverage to secure a third superstar in Denver.

I think Nick has a deserving case most years, I just didn't think his case was in the same tier as the other two in 2012-13 - the Sonicks should be commended for getting off of Dirk and Diop for solid value and getting some assets to play with, but the Sonics had the same differential as us and we missed the playoffs with a 42-40 record, so there was a pretty hefty amount of luck in them winning 52 games IMO. If that team wins more along the line of their expected Pythagorean win total (prob something like 45), we probably don't talk about the Sonics the same way this year (sorry Nick! You did a great job kickstarting a rebuild and have deserved this award in many other years, no hate or harm intended)

No true frontrunner this year but went with Nick, he’s done a difficult thing in prolonging the quality of his current run and he made maybe the best deal of the year in moving on from Dirk at the right time. He continues to get a ton out of that roster and think he’s set up pretty well whether or not he ultimately decides to tank. Props!

I’m voting for Nolan. I thought he was pretty cooked in his situation and that his firsts were absolute gold with how it looked like the inside dynasty was coming to an end. Then he acquired a player I thought would be hard to turn elite. Nolan proceeded to dominate the west and prove that I’m an idiot. So congrats bro!

Honorable mention to Nick, masterful trade with Dirk. Loved it in the moment and love it now. All he wants to do is tank yet all he ever does is win. Stop trading with Nick. It feels like he always wins

Was a tough decision, but ultimately went with Nolan for adding 23 wins and improving differential by +10.9 from last season. Blake Griffin was a great fit here

Voted for Kipke. Rough year for GMOy as really no one truly blew it out of the water. Was between Kipke and Nolan obviously. Both had extremely similar resumes this year. Only real difference I see is the year over year delta and that’s why I chose Kipke over Nolan. Nolan only has a delta because he severely mismanaged his roster two seasons ago and had a terrible depth and season by comparison last year. He retooled the bench and got Blake but, seems like giving him the delta kudus is rewarding him for mismanagement and inactivity, rather than his awesome redemption arc this season.

Kipke earned this one more than last year imo cuz getting Clinton to give up monta was a feat into of itself.
