RE-SIGNINGS ANALYSIS: ATLANTIC DIVISION
Okay okay I'm gonna do one more just to round out the Eastern (Beastern) Conference.
Celtics
Resignings:
Devin Harris
(12.1M x 5y, 10%)
Celtics Accept
Grade: A
This is a slam dunk resigning for Boston. Devin Harris is a dawg, and he's staying in Boston for much less than the max and he'll only be 34 in year 5. Joe locks in a starting PG for the foreseeable future.
Marcus Thornton
(5M x 4y, 10%)
Celtics Accept
Grade: B
Not sure what to think of Thornton. A non-Draft Profile lotto pick, his handles and positional defense were noted as mediocre, which shows in his 0.6 stock:TO when given run last season. However, it looks like he has a solid jump shot and solid scoring overall, and is showing B potential. Why not keep him around on a slightly-more-than-the-MLE contract.
Snubs:
Andrew Bynum, Ryan Gomes
Bynum is fine, aside from meh rebounding. Gomes is a great scorer, but turns it over too much and doesn't have great volume. These guys aren't amazing, but they both played 28 MPG this past season, and therefore can be considered notable snubs.
Heat
Resignings:
Channing Frye
(8M x 4y, 10%)
Heat Decline
Grade: C+
Once considered one of the more exciting big prospects in the league, I think Channing must have had some unlucky TCs along the way. I definitely think he's still worth a look, but it's smart for Scoops to not lock himself into paying Channing $10.4M in year 4 when Lillard, Klay, and Beal could all be looking for maxes.
Jamal Sampson
(5M x 3y, 10%)
Heat Accept
Grade: B+
48th on Big Butts, prime age, locked in for 3 years on that MLE+ contract.
Snubs:
KG, Rondo
These ex-Celtics legends are not fans of Miami. But KG might retire and Rondo is ass.
Nets
Resignings:
Nene
(12.5M x 4y, 10%)
Nets Decline
Grade: F
A comical resigning offer, I actually laughed out loud when I saw it.
Ty Lawson
(2.9M / 3.2M)
Nets Accept
Grade: B
Easy accept for a serviceable PG that was an 8th overall pick. I'm docking this grade because he was only camped +8 and that bums me out haha.
Mario Chalmers, Wesley Matthews, Courtney Lee
These guys all offered for super cheap, all declined.
Snubs: N/A
Knicks
Resignings:
Olowokandi/Pollard
(1M)
Knicks TBD
Grade: A
I'm just gonna go ahead and combine these two. Both top 30 Big Butts, both 37 years old, both offering the minimum. They might both retire, they might die in TC, but fuck it gotta love a large rump on a minimum.
Snubs:
Johan Petro
This guy came out of nowhere and has been pretty good. 17th on Big Butts this season, he will be missed in NYC if he walks.
Magic
Resignings:
CJ Miles
(11.3M x 6y, 10%)
Magic Decline
Grade: B-
Similar to the Tyreke deal, you'll hope for improvement across the board if you take this offer.
Joe Johnson
(6.1M / 6.7M)
Magic Decline
Grade: B
Not a bad little two year contract for Iso Joe! He's only 32 and can still get buckets. Turnovers are a bit rough though.
Gerald Henderson
(5.1M x 4y, 10%)
Magic Decline
Grade: B
Again, not a bad little contract for a good scorer with potential. Turnovers look to be a problem though. Merv must be saving room for Deron or just doesn't like what he sees with all these offers.
Snubs:
Deron Williams
George Hill likes this.
76ers
Resignings:
Willie Green
(8.9M x 4y, 10%)
76ers Accept
Grade: A
This guy is a fucking lights out shooter. He's a walking .50/.40/.90 these days and signing for relatively cheap with A+ Outside is a huge win.
Jermaine O'Neal
(11.2M / 12.3M)
76ers Decline
Grade: B+
I feel like this is actually a solid deal! JO was 15th on Big Butts despite his advanced age. Just don't think DMo can afford it.
Snubs: N/A
Bullets
Resignings:
Sergio Llull
(3.1M / 3.4M)
Bullets Accept
Grade: A-
Nice lil' CP3 insurance. He also might be pretty good? Idk he's never gotten much run.
Snubs:
Nazr Mohammed
Coulda offered that veteran big min but chose not to!
