2012-13 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

People have most of my thoughts if they read the big board, but I was honestly kind of happy to not have a FRP in this draft. A few interesting fellas in the 3-10 range, but outside of the lottery it felt barren. I have high hopes for Nerlens and for Dedmon...otherwise not terribly excited about too many guys. I was happy to buy into the second round and grab two fun-ish looking guys in Oriakhi and Neto, so the Maine Celtics should have a winning season for the first time in like a decade this year.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Feel great about the offseason so far! Was able to completely rebuild my frontcourt for pretty cheap, turning Kwame's large expiring, a pick and some RP into Okafor and Petro, both of whom I hope may serve me better that Kwame. Was able to retain Bynum at a cheap number and lucked into a great Harris re-signing, so feel very grateful for that. Still think I need to move for one more star scorer, but have plenty of time left this offseason.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

All eyes will once again be on Paul George, who still shows A potential but is not quite perfect yet. Would love to see his volume tick up and his turnovers tick down. Other that that, the only other fella we will be camping is NDL UBERMENSCH Jordan Hamilton, who will have gotten +25 in free camps and +11 in potential in 2 seasons in the NDL. I want him to be a completely unstoppable monster when he gets up to the big leagues.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Sixers. Unless Lebron dies, these guys are still cream of the crop. I think we should make them a little nervous this year, though.
Central: Bulls. With McCants sticking around, Matt lost zero talent in FA, and the Bulls should be a dominant force. Look for the Pacers and Hawks to show big improvement though!
Midwest: Nuggets. Should be neck and neck with the Rockets, but I think a full season of Monta seals the deal for the Nugs, who are a bit deeper than Houston.
Pacific: Trailblazers. Would love for a shakeup in this division, but I don't think that's happening this year.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Kevin Love to the Spurs! I thought Tyler would keep the young fella, but he got some solid value coming back. Spurs should be a very interesting team on the rise to watch this year.

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?

Bob Covington! His notes were pretty spectacular and I think wings that get blocks and also can score are such a powerful asset.

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.

It's the reverse of the Moon stip - everyone on the team gives a little bit of money back on their respective deals because of the good vibes, and that GM gets 1 to 5M in extra cap space every year.

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?

Underrated: Mike Conley
Overrated: Deandre Jordan. I hate his guts

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

It's crazy how good the real life Celtics are yet how many tiers below the Nuggets they are. Not fair. Going to need Jokic to quit basketball for professional eating or horseback riding if an East team is going to have a chance.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Watching Shogun right now, it's awesome. Highly recommend

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Kind of a meh draft outside of the big boys. Was in a tough spot at 8 where I didn't love anyone at 8 and badly need RP to camp the big boys so packaged that pick for RP and a starting PF. Feel like outside of Giannis and Rudy it's some really nice role players. Think McCollum at 6 is going to come back big down the road as he'll be a viable 3 option for a good team. Adams also looks very fun for a long time. Fascinated how Schroeder turns out.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Pretty happy as you'll see when these trades filter in. Could've been better, some heavy sign and trade whiffs on FA Day 1 but is what it is. Ready to flip the switch and start doing some winning with the young core on their rookie deals.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Massive TC. Need improvements from Klay, Beal, Dame and expect to get them. Hold on KG/Sampson! Year away from getting the Big 3 where they need to be in TC probably but that's ok.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Sixers - Bron still elite.
Central: Hawks - Heimer's year! Why not ha. Bucks will be nasty but wanted to mix it up
Midwest: Nugz – Kipke looking fire pookie
Pacific: Kings – this is the year Jesse reminds us why he’s so good at this game.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Will wait till post FA

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
I’m going McCollum as I said above. Idk really like CJ. Could easily be steven adams though.

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.
I kind of already know but I was imagining if you had him on the same team as Kyrie it would mitigate all of Kyrie’s silliness lol. Would also be funny if it gave someone on the team a Jeremy-Lin type run one week a year (kind of like Russ blacking out in OKC hey day)

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
Overrated: Probably Kevin Love (love you Jordo, sorry) – I just struggle with his stocks.
Underrated: Willie Green. Dude makes the Sixers tick outside of Bron. Elite efficiency.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Blues threw away the season. Arsenal in the process of throwing away the season. Ready for Mizzou football.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Just started Shogun, fun watch so far.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

A lotta good role guys will rise. I bet the bigs of these notes turn into league staples for years to come. I bet one of the SG becomes an Allstar.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Pretty mid. Would love to find a direction and pull of some trades.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

I finally hope for progression rather than just holding the line for the last decade. I hope Oden still has some burn and can continue to make strikes on offense and defense. I need wall to make leaps and bounds to cover the acquisition cost. He needs a lot of help to even become a playable Backup guard.
Dion is one year shy before a possible supercamp so would love some further production in TC this season to solidify the SC

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers , lebron
Central: bulls , continuity
Midwest: nuggets, continuity
Pacific: Sonicks, I bet they make a move and PP still got some poop left in the tank

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Not as many pillages as I thought. Ricky on the rookie max is tough. Stale trade market is weird too

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?

lol Gobert being a given is sus. Oladipo! He’ll be Kerry Kittles

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.

No

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?

Overrated - kobe
Underrated - Diop

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Royals? Meh idk we’re in the dull drums. DU hockey won the title! That’s fun. Suck it BU and BC hockey

2012-13 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
I thought there were a few tiers: Giannis/Gobert and Oladipo/Most top 10 guys/Everyone else. Thrilled to have Erik Murphy down in Lakeland. I pray he’s a secret stud just because of how happy it would make me to see Murph dominate SLN. Shabazz scared me.
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
TAAANK. Buy my players pls
3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Would be so fun to see Cory Joseph take a nice step forward with a +8 camp and +16 freebies with his +7 pot. If Yi is still here, get some A’s kid. TRoss or any of my prospects leaping forward would be fun
4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers, LeBron. Again
Central: Death, Taxes, Bulls
Midwest: Rockets, the champ is here
Pacific: Blazers, IRL Magic duo

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
A trade for a Knickerbocker that could be coming in soon
6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
Anthony Bennett. There’s no doubt. Because it’s fun. And fun stuff is cool
7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.
+50 happiness mid season to all his teammates. What does it actually do, we’ll never know
8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
Overrated: Rashad McCants. He’s fine and good. But I guess I just don’t see him the same
Underrated: CJ Miles, dude is like 85% Rashad McCants. Non Magic player, Elton Brand

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Don’t get me started. I guess it’s almost Liberty SZN?
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
I recommended Shōgun last time. I’ll go with Lessons in Chemistry on AppleTV. Miniseries starring Brie Larson was extremely well done and unpredictable. Not what I expected at all

2012-13 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Worst draft ever, another top 3 lotto another chance to move out of the top 3. That makes it 4 for 4. Happy to get out of this draft and trade 4 for KLove. I dont wanna be a hater but I think Giannis could be such a weird prospect that he gets a little busty.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Glad I didnt sell the house for Wade or Bosh, happy with Kevin Love's potential. Worried about not having a clear cut point guard but hoping one of these 3 guys can emerge.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Praying for a great Kawhi Supercamp, and steady improvement from Middleton and MKG. I need IT's handles to improve.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers
Central: Bulls
Midwest:Nuggets
Pacific:Blazers

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
I was a little surprised Love became available!

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
Steven Adams

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.
I know the stip but ill get creative

+1 to each of your starters potential while hes on your team

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
Overrated: OJ Mayo
Underrated: Still is and forever will be Gerald Wallace

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Knicks 2 seed!

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
For all the fallout fans go watch the show, its excellent

2012-13 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

While it was thin at the top and pretty accurately mirrored the real 2014 class, I actually think this was a pretty good role player draft, I thought there were plenty of interesting guys and I'm sure some of them will end up panning out unexpectedly. I really wanted Nerlens at No. 7 but was excited about grabbing Steven Adams and his Kiwi Healing Magic via trade, hope he will be a great fit with us. I also really wanted Glen Rice Jr. and thought he was being undervalued, traded up to 11 to save money in FA and also to make sure I got him — as someone who pays close attention to the NDL he felt like a great project. Beyond the obvious guys, I liked Dellavedova, Olynyk, Dedmon, Otto Porter, I think there was good value in the 12-25 range for a lot of teams. Very curious how MCW and Roberson pan out for Hoff also with the stocks.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

We struck out on the big free agents and I was hoping to get a slight discount retaining Ricky but so it goes. Trying really hard to exhibit some patience now that I have a handful of fun pieces (at least they're fun to me, which is what matters the most when you suck lol). My priorities for at least one more season are basically development/gathering info about my players, maintaining flexibility, and (probably) tanking a little bit, which might be easier with a lot of East teams set to take big steps out of the basement.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Very important TC for us — my entire roster/core is currently under 26, so there's an important opportunity to get better. Rubio and Draymond both have a lot of potential left, I think Adams and Rice are going to be really fun role players, and hoping Hayward and Bazemore can make strides too.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Sixers, LeBron is still LeBron, it may not be as much of a runaway situation this year though
Central: Bulls until further notice
Midwest: Nuggets, think a full season of Monta and some small tweaks will have these guys rolling
Pacific: Blazers, if it ain't broke don't fix it

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

My sources are saying there are a lot of big moves that have yet to be posted so I'll refrain from commenting on those. I enjoyed the Dirk/Pau trade from a fun perspective.

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?

Glen Rice Jr. aka Basmati Jordan aka Pilaf Jesus

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.

I know what the stip is, it is good

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?

Overrated - Pau

Underrated - Marvin Williams

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Cubs are kind of interesting, which is enough for me right now

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Finished Curb, X-Men 97 is awesome, me and @SWAMP STEVEN have been listening to a band called Mannequin Pussy and they are awesome

2012-13 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
I thought besides Giannis, it was a pretty weak draft overall. I am sure Ashes has some tricks in store, however. I had a fun draft day, wheeling and dealing my way into the draft and then back a few slots. Happy to score 2 darts in a relatively flat draft and snag my 2016 back in the process. However I don't have much faith in those darts hitting a bullseye... Glen Rice Jr. is interesting with his NDL background. I actually really wanted Anthony Bennett to fall to me at 10. MCW had a super fun combine, maybe he becomes a guy?

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Offseason so far has been more fun than the past few! Turned Kevin Love's salary into 4 picks including my 2016 to give me flexibility for this season. We might push chips in a true star if the price is right, or we might strip this thing to its nuts and bolts if the sellers market is more attractive. I am just following my Pacific rival in Sacramento's lead and going to try to churn value.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

TC used to be my favorite day of the season but now had it perfectly coincided with an increase in my depression, decrease in happiness. Both a correlation and a causation, me thinks. Shabazz popping offensively would be fun but honestly TC has sucked all hope from this former optimist.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: DMo because he got second in the divisional round of Karoake Wildcard and this is his redemption arc.
Central: Bulls because Matt is an actual lord at games and Matt Luck is a falsity that never left my mouth during their playoff run
Midwest: Nuggets. This team is sexy af. Title favorites for Dave imo.
Pacific: Blazers. Paul Piece is about to fall off a cliff this TC and Jeff Teague aint that guy, pal. Suns are in an existential crisis and I don't know what Jesse's schedule is like but hopefully he is busy being an agent for another season.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Nav looks to be entering a rebuilding or retooling phase with his latest wave of deals (or rumored deals). Always interested to see what he does since he is in a different IQ bracket than myself and its fun to watch from the West.

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
Seth Curry, honestly might. Some good TCs could help him be JJ Redick, who would be the third best player in this draft imo.

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.
During the private workout, you noticed Steven Adams really looking out for his fellow teammates on and off the court, oftentimes preventing hard fouls or giving some conditioning pointers during breaks. For the team, the Adams effect will reduce small injuries (10 Days or less) by 5 Days and moderate injuries (>10 Days but < 30 Days) by 10 Days. It is always the GM's responsibility to send a PM to invoke this stipulation. (Hidden Stip Check Success)

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?

Chris Paul is the most overrated imo. I feel like he should be better since everything was over 85 when he was SC'd but his numbers on a season by season basis havent been as insane as I personally expected. Still a top 5-7 PG though.

Ian Mahimi is the most underrated. This dude is so nice and cheap and humble. Great big butt in Denver!

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Might actually buy MLB.tv for the first time in 9 years since the Royals just might not be awful this year. We finally seem to have some resemblance of starting pitching which is super fun.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
I just watched 3 body problem on netflix. It's directed by D&D from Thrones. It was entertaining and provocative. I liked it alright if you are looking for something different to watch at night.

2012-13 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

A bad draft that grew on me. I was surprised how many players in the 11-20 range I actually wanted to draft. Steven Adams, Covington and Glen Rice were the 3 guys i wanted to pick. I am glad we got at least one.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Incomplete so far. Getting D-Wade to pair with Metta should be fun. But we've still hung onto many of our young players and picks, so we'll see if we consolidate some more. Hoping to finally breakout of the midpack in the West. I am hoping for some injury luck this season. Losing Metta 2 years in a row for the season was awful!

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

I want Boban to look even sexier! I am actually not expecting much from him in terms of ratings - I think most of his gains post supercamp will have to be under the hood given his rating profile - but i can't wait to see him sim.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers - LeBron
Central: Bucks - So much talent
Midwest: Nuggets - No drop off
Pacific: Kings - Handsome GM

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Bosh to the Pacers. Tonger did a fun one! I wanted Bosh, but didn't have the goods to get my guy from Nav.

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?

Whichever steal Ashes planted in the 2nd round. We haven't had one in a while and I am hoping there is a fun one! Otherwise, I might vote for Rice Pilaf.

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.

Steven's vibe causes every player on his team to have 99 loyalty the second they join his squad.

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?

Overrated: Ricky Rubio. I don't get it. That max is ROUGH!
Underrated: Jamario Moon. People still sleeping on him!

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

whotothedey

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

3 Body Problem and Shogun! Great month of TV.
