2019-20 Offseason Questionnaire - BIG BALLER EDITION
1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Will feel sad for David if Ant ends up being the way better pick considering he pretty much didn't have a choice. I could just see Pritchard being nasty in this league so I thought he was a steal so late.
I ended up grabbing Okongwu who was labeled a part-time baller in the draft notes, while there were still some guys on the board that were part of Lavar's "these cats BALL" group. I needed to grab a big though and liked Okongwu's ratings better than Precious and Stix Smith's. It looked like he was also on the higher end of a few of his ratings categories, too. Also, Jwoo said he liked the pick in his draft recap article which made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Devastated that Melo retired. He really wasn't showing any signs of slowing down and I didn't gameplan for retirement being a possibility whatsoever. Traded DRose at least 5 seasons too late but happy to have sent him back home. I think we're going to be pretty bad.
3. Thoughts on TC?
Hoping for some progression from Fultz, Sexton and Okongwu (maybe a lil Zach Collins love too??!!) Gonna get these young fellas on the floor this season. Curious to see what Fultz's volume will be like now that D Rose and Melo are gone.
4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: Celtics. This team rocks and have all their own picks and a few others to cash in if they need to. Never thought I'd say this but I think Taurean Prince being this good on this contract presents a bit of a window for them.
Central: Hawks. Dominated this division last year. Can't imagine another team will make up that much ground.
Midwest: NO IDEA. Maybe Minnesota can make this KAT Giannis thing work. Not sure how they weren't better last year. They have some cap space so maybe they can scoop a BALLER in FA. With a solid TC from their twin towers, a productive FA period and cashing in some picks (I believe they have all of their own), I could see this team improving dramatically.
Pacific: Golden State. I just wanna see Clint do well and not leave us.
5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?
No idea what Lavar has in store and what, if anything, will be different this season. I guess the easy answer is that any team with one of the Ball brothers will enjoy wildly inflated value out of them in trade negotiations.
6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.
I'm hoping that we get to see it. Hopefully whichever GM ends up having the missing piece isn't too much of a hardass and accepts a reasonable offer. We wanna see this stips play out!
No clue what it might be. Can't really think of any stip that would line up with IRL Ball family lore. Probably like a potential boost or something but would be cool if it was a little more complex than that.
7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?
Anthony Davis has GOTTA go
8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.
Something about Nick reminds me of Vito
9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Pretty depressing scene for Chicago sports across the board
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Only thing I'm watching right now is Veep. Not sure I get the hype quite yet but I'll stick it out for a bit. Finishing a David Goggins book right now and am ready to run through a brick wall.
Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season
