2019-20 Offseason Questionnaire - BIG BALLER EDITION

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Will feel sad for David if Ant ends up being the way better pick considering he pretty much didn't have a choice. I could just see Pritchard being nasty in this league so I thought he was a steal so late.

I ended up grabbing Okongwu who was labeled a part-time baller in the draft notes, while there were still some guys on the board that were part of Lavar's "these cats BALL" group. I needed to grab a big though and liked Okongwu's ratings better than Precious and Stix Smith's. It looked like he was also on the higher end of a few of his ratings categories, too. Also, Jwoo said he liked the pick in his draft recap article which made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Devastated that Melo retired. He really wasn't showing any signs of slowing down and I didn't gameplan for retirement being a possibility whatsoever. Traded DRose at least 5 seasons too late but happy to have sent him back home. I think we're going to be pretty bad.

3. Thoughts on TC?

Hoping for some progression from Fultz, Sexton and Okongwu (maybe a lil Zach Collins love too??!!) Gonna get these young fellas on the floor this season. Curious to see what Fultz's volume will be like now that D Rose and Melo are gone.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Celtics. This team rocks and have all their own picks and a few others to cash in if they need to. Never thought I'd say this but I think Taurean Prince being this good on this contract presents a bit of a window for them.
Central: Hawks. Dominated this division last year. Can't imagine another team will make up that much ground.
Midwest: NO IDEA. Maybe Minnesota can make this KAT Giannis thing work. Not sure how they weren't better last year. They have some cap space so maybe they can scoop a BALLER in FA. With a solid TC from their twin towers, a productive FA period and cashing in some picks (I believe they have all of their own), I could see this team improving dramatically.
Pacific: Golden State. I just wanna see Clint do well and not leave us.

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?

No idea what Lavar has in store and what, if anything, will be different this season. I guess the easy answer is that any team with one of the Ball brothers will enjoy wildly inflated value out of them in trade negotiations.

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.

I'm hoping that we get to see it. Hopefully whichever GM ends up having the missing piece isn't too much of a hardass and accepts a reasonable offer. We wanna see this stips play out!

No clue what it might be. Can't really think of any stip that would line up with IRL Ball family lore. Probably like a potential boost or something but would be cool if it was a little more complex than that.

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?

Anthony Davis has GOTTA go

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.

Something about Nick reminds me of Vito

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Pretty depressing scene for Chicago sports across the board

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Only thing I'm watching right now is Veep. Not sure I get the hype quite yet but I'll stick it out for a bit. Finishing a David Goggins book right now and am ready to run through a brick wall.

Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Fun twist that was Lemelo was forced #1, probably unlucky for Kipke but knowing ashes the BBB stip should be awesome. I was very happy to take Ant at #2. #3 I was between Maxey, Haliburton, and Bane. Decided to pick for need (PG) so that ruled out Bane. Maxey and Hali were similar but Maxey should have less TOs which decided it.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Been actively poking around at big trades. About that time I need to consolidate some of my youngins for a star. If I haven't reached out to you and you want to turn a more established player into younger blue chips guys/picks hmu!

3. Thoughts on TC?
Need Trae to show life, would like Zion to improve organically before his SC next offseason. We have 10!! guys 22 years old or younger. 5 A pot dudes and 6 B. If we don't pop this offseason we may sell the team to Lavar.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Boston, they were good last year and were able to keep the band together. Knicks will be neck and neck with them.
Central: Hawks, they are legit. Bucks and Pacers could make it interesting if their young guys have good TCs
Midwest: Griz, good team last year and with the Jazz/Spurs starting to shuffle their teams a cleaner path. Watch out for Nugz too if they make some bigger trades but likely a little too young to win it
Pacific: Lakers, Kyrie is still him.

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?
Whoever links the Balls together, likely either Nick or Kipke. I fucked up not MLE extending Liangelo last year. But maybe Lavar would have voided that anyway since I didn't play his boy enough in the bubble. Also better I wasn't constantly harassed for Gelo.

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.
The 3 balls are given BBB shoes and get -20 jumping, ultimate plot twist from ashes.

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?
Anthony Davis, Giannis and/or KAT

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.
I've never seen Sopranos, but based on a quick google is seems like Gloria is bat shit crazy so I'll go with her and Demo

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
After an amazing start for the Commanders we've come back to earth since playing more competitive teams. Need Latimore to actually play and Jaydens ribs to heal up. Wiz need to tank for Cooper/Ace. Sad Ovi broke his leg cause Caps were surprisingly off to a hot start.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
CFB dynasty is still going strong even though I am now def the worst out of Ashes, Heimer, and Merv. Long live Damp. Been dabbling in the new COD too.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
I sold my pick but had the 28th pick. Didn’t pay much attention to this draft, ended up taking Mays based on his position in the draft notes and the extra care Lavar took to call out his nickname and add a Can Play PG stip.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Didn’t have much going on. Looking forward to a full season of OPJ and some growth from the young fellas. Grabbed Thabeet on an MLE for depth, looking to make the playoffs again.

3. Thoughts on TC?
The team is pretty young so hoping for improvement across the board. Need SGA to be a stud.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Boston, Joe’s locked and loaded for another strong season.
Central: Atlanta, unless one of the Big Three gets injured.
Midwest: Memphis, with the uncertainty in Utah.
Pacific: Sacramento, Boban.

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?
I have absolutely no idea.

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.
They all get stat boosts that take them to a different tier of player, with LaMelo becoming a superstar and the other two becoming solid starters.

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?
KD, let’s get a Hawks teardown!

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Celtics are great and post-Olympics Tatum is ballin. Patriots stink but Drake Maye is spicy.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Penguin was awesome. I watched a movie on the plane called Beau is Afraid that was a 3 hour mindfuck.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
My hot take is Quickley should’ve gone top 3 and may be better than Maxey. Other than that, loved Clint’s pick of precious. Saddiq bey is going to crush the NDL. Wiseman with the +10 pot is going to be a fun to watch. I’m happy with Tillman falling to 24, I wasn’t sure who to take at 12 but thought Hoff made the right choice

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
It’s a weird offseason for us. Ducking cap while trying to get better without losing assets is tough. Happy to get CJ, think he’ll be a major upgrade over Gary Harris off the bench. Hoping that was a missing piece for us and that our young core continues to get better. Lavines +20 pot should hopefully get us a pop. We’d like to break back into the playoffs and hope to get in the top 5 of the east which we’ve never done
3. Thoughts on TC?
Need a Lavine pop. Hopefully hold out in the Pickens and I’d get to give him a shooting camp. Other than that, have a ton of young guys that can improve hoping for good dice rolls

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Celtics - they won last year and I don’t see them getting worse
Central: Hawks - KDxLebron
Midwest: Grizzlies - young and complete teams
Pacific: Lakers - they are running it back

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?

Gotta be the nuggets now with the BBB stip activating easy answer for me

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.
Well it’s already happened lol - I was going to say everyone gets a pot boost to 10” but I think Lamelo is already there. So I’ll say +10 JS to all

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?
AD and Blake Griffin

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.
I actually only watched the first season years ago. Paulie walnuts cuz he’s a little crazy and will kill ya lol

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Villanova fall from grace has been an absolute tragedy. Need the commanders to hold on for dear life hope the bye week helps. And the wizards are doing a perfect job of pooping for Cooper. Young guys on the team look solid too, love what I’ve seen out of Bilal Coulibaly

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations
Finally got to seeing the new Deadpool movie which was pretty awesome. Abbott elementary is back and awesome as always. And been binging only
Murders with the GF it’s been fun though silly

2019-20 Offseason Questionnaire - BIG BALLER EDITION

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Drafts I Liked: Wes getting Ant, Maxey, and Deni in the top 10 is a crazy good haul; i also love the KJ martin pick who i believe in IRL. Hoff getting Bane and P-Will is a great start to his youth movement; i think Cole will be better in BBL than IRL but i also think Big Stew will be as well, love that trade for Tong and not Hoff. This might be a bad take but I personally love Scoops snagging three players who just havnt panned out IRL. Wiseman is probs way better in BBL, Killian getting NDL boosts will be massive, and RJ inspired LaMelo to Australia JUST SAYIN!
Players I Like: Pre-draft I was going to take Bey or OO, Mantypas convinced me Precious was the move at 11 though in a mock-draft we did that I never posted. So yea I do really like OO to Anaheim. I thought Quickly is perfect for PG needy Minny. Ive always been a slut for Vassel's offensive game and defensive pot IRL and the Swamp was in need of a SG like him. Tillman falling to CLE at 24 is a perfect fit, its like the same as Dedmon a few years ago, in redrafts i assume they go higher. My guy took Isaiah Joe as well. Side note: I love how many SRPs were used, good shit.
My draft: Precious and Theo. My team has been devoid of rebounding so taking Precious who at his base has the best rebounding in the file seems like a win to me. I was taking looks at others but Precious is a certified BALLER so fuggit. Theo seems like a nice swing as a 19yr old PG.
Whatever: If you read this looking for me to hype your draft and i didnt, im sorry. I try to spread the wealth and I fuck with every draft this year.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
I am fine with it, even if other GMs dislike me not trading my players. My team hinges on if Tatum is THAT DUDE WITH MAX AURA. He is Him, in case BBL was wondering. Oladipo back at 8m is beautiful. I think i got lucky with RBs offer not taking and I didnt want to risk Nolan offering him more than me. Day 1 offer: 8.5, 5yrs, 12.5%. Day 4/5 offer: 8m, 4yrs, 11%. I changed that second offer a couple times while it was in my outbox as well lol. Kabangele did me dirty, i offered him a 2nd round pick contract, 3yrs, the whole shebang, we had big thangs planned for Santa Cruz, oh well. Im hoping this season, win or lose, im just good with the results. My goodbye post was real but i dont wanna say goodbye in a month if im choosing today. Offseasons are usually fun for me though lol.

3. Thoughts on TC?
My team better be pissed off about last season. Had a long fucking summer to work on their game. GSB TC to the fucking MOOOON.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Brooklyn, first year and TWINS BASEL.
Central: Hawks even though they traded MVP Jonas Valancuinas smdh.
Midwest: Memphis probs OD this year.
Pacific: Golden State BALLERS, fuck you thought?

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?
Denver is probably the biggest winners. I think if we keep the play-in and chump thing going then ALL those teams are winners. Except for 7/8 seeds. You fought to make it but if you have to play more to make the playoffs it sucks. I think that 9/10 not being in the chump is what it is.

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.
100% bc Kipke did it, right? I truly believe they all become A+ shooters now and they all offer to resign for the LOW.

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?
Everyone probably looking at me but if no one wants Jabari, they might have to wait.

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.
^ need one of those articles where someone gives every GM a character again. I wanna know who id be bc i havnt watched enough of the show AND its been too long.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Lamar is MVP. Kyshawn George is my favorite Wizard. Hockey gods injuring Ovie is malpractice. Roll tide...fook lol. Bout to lay the wood on Auburn.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
DanDaDan on Netflix is premium anime. Dune prophecy is mid simply bc i cant get over the dude from Vikings being in it. I know its been on Max a while but friendly reminder to go watch Civil War(Kristen Dunst) if you havnt, and no not Marvel.

Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season
Ill play this game Joe. Its only Yr1, i havnt evolved, devolved? Does Smeagle evolve like a pokemon?

Steven Adams, positive thoughts?

I guess he took the picture too soon, might need a new number, we gave his away to Theo.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
I think Maxey ends up the best player in the draft. He's a perfect FBB build. Pritchard at 17 fell too far, absolutely loved that pick too.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Quiet offseason...until today! Goal is to compete for the title. We've had a few cracks at it with Embiid and Turner, and I think today's trade positions us well to compete for the foreseeable future.

3. Thoughts on TC?
My entire rotation (aside from Petro) is 28-and-under, so I'm hoping to see improvement across the board. Now that I said that I'm sure everyone will have a horrible TC.

Specifically, would like to see Embiid's blocks / TOs, Turner's 3PT, and Okogie's inside / 3PT continue to improve.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks. We were only a game back of the division winner last season and think we got better this offseason.
Central: Hawks. Fascinated to see KD and LeBron team up.
Midwest: Grizzlies. This team was awesome much of last year and had a weird end of season slide to drop them a few seeds.
Pacific: Suns. Jokic is a lord.

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?
I'll go with the Nugs. LaMelo Ball is the chosen son.

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.
I'd bet the stip gives all the brothers 100 potential for X (4?) seasons, with TC dice rolls deciding the rest. Considering how this offseason went, I'd guess it's unlikely that they're united any time soon.
Edit: I’m an idiot and didn’t realize Kipke already united them. Gotta log on more often smh.

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?
It feels like Kyrie has been eerily silent, so I'm guessing he'll demand a trade sooner than later. Oden should probably go on the block, given today's trades and the fact that the Jazz are coming off a title / probably ready to rebuild / retool.

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.
Joe's Uncle Jun. Oh did I say muff? I meant rough

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
The Knicks need Mitch more than ever. KAT's been unreal on the offensive end but the team's got no rim protection. KAT-Brunson P&R has been super fun, though. Bridges has been disappointing but hoping he'll turn it on sooner than later.

The Giants...meh. Hoping we can nab the #1 pick and Shedeur at this point.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Actually rewatching the Sopranos right now (and watching w/ my fiancee for her first time), which has been a blast. Not a hot take at all, but it's my favorite show of all time.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Super excited for Stewart. Time will tell if i should have taken Pritchard instead. Think Desmond Bane is gonna be really good. I'm really sus on Wiseman, though maybe thats real life coloring my opinion.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
I'm happy with it and am super excited to see the pieces come together. I'm sad that the mix-up with Jamal Murray's RFA match likely cost me a sign and trade that would have really helped my team. What can ya do

3. Thoughts on TC?
I have a mix of two old guys who I need to hold the line (Marvin and Al) and a group of young guys I'd love to see take the next step (Sabonis, Fox, Bridges, Herro, Kennard). I'm probably most intrigued though by RHJ camp at PF... hoping it makes him more stocky.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks - Tyus is a huge pickup for them
Central: P A C E R S
Midwest: Think it'll be the Grizz! Looking forward to seeing Kris Dunn with starter minutes
Pacific: Suns - Moose i mean Jokic

5. The bubble tournament is over! Outside of the winners of the freebies, from here on out, what teams are going to be the biggest winners and losers of the Ball regime?
Has to be the Nuggets after assembling all the Balls

6. What do you think the Ball brothers stip is? State the odds that you think all 3 Ball brothers will be united within the next season.
I think it'll impact their potential... hopefully doesn't make them broken

7. Still seems like a sellers' market, with very few teams willing to sell. Who WILL and SHOULD be the next superstar to go on the block?
Aaron Gordon. Jwoo I know you're reading this

8. I just rewatched Sopranos all the way through for the 5th time. Compare 1 GM in the league to a Sopranos character and state why.
Hoff is Jackie Aprile Jr, hopefully with a different ending

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Niners most disappointing year in a long time. Warriors most exciting year in a couple years! But mostly COYS just so Tottenham to win our biggest match for awhile then have our starting GK need surgery

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Finally watching Shogun... amazing
