Tanking Length
Moderator: pacers
In a league Ashes and I were in together, there was a "Contract Year" where you couldn't have 4 losing / non-playoff seasons in a row or else you'd be replaced.
If we get a wait list - looking at you LaBrony - it was always a unique aspect of the league that made things hyper competitive.

My half baked idea.
-if you tank for >3 years (e.g, you have missed the playoffs and finished with one of the eight worst records in the league, and owned your own draft pick during each of those 3 years), your own lottery pick will be moved to #13 post lotto for every subsequent year thereafter
(I am sure there are some issues with this but just a thought)

The easy fix here is people rebuilding with a little more initiative and being willing to take risks to improve. The new lotto odds should help in theory, but the behavior is the behavior - as a tanking team I’m in favor of whatever the league decides, think a four season rebuild window is prob fair but it’s also kind of a case by case thing

if a team misses the playoffs for 5 years in a row while holding own picks then next 2 first round draft pick(s) are revoked

If team misses playoffs 4 years in a row, they are subject to public embarrassment voted on from the rest of the league.

Def in favor of this - although i don't think the flattened lotto odds will do much to help (I actually think it'll be the opposite - worst teams less likely to get franchise-changing talent through the draft and any team in serious danger of tanking for 4 straight years is likely to be more reliant on draft talent vs. trades to improve)
Bumping this. We have some teams that haven't won since the dawn of time currently, implementing a change effective next season.
