2012-13 Offseason Questionnaire
1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Basically from the start of the playoffs until a few days ago I was on an extended ski trip, so I paid the draft no attention at all. This somewhat softened the playoff loss blow. Giannis is going to be good I'd say.
2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Pumped! Jacked to the tits! We have no future firsts any longer (not something I really thought I'd do), but I like the result in the short term at least. Given that, the goal is the title. We've been good enough to win it the last two or three seasons IMHO, but it obviously hasn't shaken out that way. This might be our best team yet - Jameer seems to be peaking, I love the SG rotation, Yi should be fine as a swiss army knife SF, and Horford and Howard should be better than ever as a tandem.
3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Al Horford continues to enthrall me. Not much else interesting to see. I think Mirotic will be good and useful, maybe as soon as this year.
4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: 6ers. DMo is kind of painted into the LeBron PG corner which should win him a zillion games this season. They should go get another solid butt though.
Central: This is maybe the most intriguing division race ever? I'll handicap the race as the Bulls to lose but give me the Hawks as a fun underdog pick.
Midwest: Tug of war between Denver and Houston that I'll give to Denver - I think they're slightly more complete and have easier holes to fill, but this should be a battle.
Pacific: Fourth consecutive division title for Rose City
5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
I did not enjoy the Wade to SAC move I have to say. I also thought PHX was like a year away from being really good a season ago, so was a bit surprised to see their teardown.
6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
I think definitely Oladipo. He was a legit All NBA contender when he started getting hurt IRL, and he looks solid in SLN.
7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.
My assumption was resigning offers on your team will be discounted 10% or something like that.
8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
I'm going to cheat a little bit and go with player archetypes
Overrated - idk if this is a hot take, but the archetype of the pretty good PG. There are sooo many pretty good PGs in the league. What's the replacement line? IMO it's a guy slashing like 45/40/85 for 20ppg and 2.5 to 3 TOs. So good!
Underrated - the no-offense butts. Diop remains undefeated.
9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Ugh.
10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Just started Shogun - seems a little silly, but fun
Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season
