this break from normalcy has me more engaged than i've been in a long time. pumped to see what else you have planned. not being able to give some booty ndl dude +3 strength is a sacrifice i think people should be able to stomach. also think it's pretty unfair to ashes to whine about any idea he's clearly put a lot of thought/work into considering all he's done to engineer this whole hobby for us. and i am definitely not saying this to buy markelle fultz a few more seasons of healthy shoulders

ashes wrote: November 11th, 2024, 7:56 pm Honestly, it should go without saying, but anyone believing I’d do anything but reward everyone really hasn’t been paying attention these past few years.

This is something I planned since the inception of the league, with zero input from anyone. I planned this before even the Kyrie stip, which was another one of my earlier ideas.

The idea was to offer a creative, fun experience overall for everyone under the guise of the shitty real life time COVID represented. There were so many things I had planned for this “offseason” and the following 2020-2021 season that I thought would serve to give us not only enjoyment but a nice break from the standard mold.

To see things like threats of quitting, actually quitting, moaning about rewards, thinking I’d actually toss out an entire core component of SLN (the NDL), etc etc is just so disheartening. I honestly felt like I’d earned a level of trust to do something fun like this, something I worked really hard on and was going to take an immense amount of work to do.

I fear I missed my target audience
I love it. The chaos is exciting! Hope you stick with the plans!

I may only be speaking for myself, but I think what we have learned is that we are all pretty dumb and so hopelessly addicted to this experience that for some of us the thought of losing it or having it worsened in any way sets off massive panic that totally blinds us to reason or the ability to think logically. In retrospect, post-panic and post big reveal, I think it’s pretty easy to see that this was well thought-out and fun and that we probably should have trusted that you weren’t going to make the game worse, and in all likelihood were going to make it a lot better. Just tough to actually use logic when your lizard brain tells you to freak out.

Probably talking mostly about O6 fellas (including myself), but I also think that there are some of us old curmudgeon-y (credit @skillz) FBB purists who have never known anything but the basic game and are scared of change and creativity because it’s different than what we’ve experienced for many years over, even though pretty much every change has been unequivocally positive so far. Old habits die hard because again, we are estupido

I will definitely cop to panicking early on (as my posts clearly indicated lol) and participating in echo-chamber-y panicky conversations with equally panicked dummies but can confirm I am super pumped for this new chapter. The activity on the boards in the last 12 hours has been incredible, so I’m glad to see that most folks are also past the stupid panic stage and ready to enjoy, and are probably feeling equally sheepish about being dumb lol

P.s. posting from my phone but if I was on my computer trust that I would have had a really good sheep meme with my face on the body of a sheep. Just imagine it, I can’t do everything here

Re-reading this , I’m sorry if it sounds too much like criticism! The creativity is incredible. Was just bringing to life (and trying to make fun of) our group’s moments of panic. Keep doing you and in sim gawd we trust.

(Also no one has quit or threatened to quit over anything related to this stuff! That was a bad joke tryna make fun of panic’d group-me texts. Clint I think is just sad his team didn’t play well?)
