Statistical Correlation Analysis Day 50
Statistical Correlation Analysis Day 50
Decided to run a statistical correlation earlier in the season this year to give teams a chance to adjust to what is working in this edition of SLN. Hopefully, I will have time this weekend to put together the correlation history of the league to see how the league has evolved from a team building standpoint and what has historically worked best.
All correlations to Win % as of Day 50: For all the slightly highlighted rows, I would look at the ranked teams backwards. For example, the best teams in oFG% are Rockets, Mavericks, Heat.
So far this season, PPG, RPG, and oFG% take the cake in terms of best statistics that translates to winning games... maybe positional defense does matter?? In the next tier, pace, protecting the rim, and getting to the free throw line.
I am surprised 3P% and SPG don't translate as well to winning. Check out if your team is a top 3 or bottom 3 team in any category, and what everyone thinks is most vs. least surprising.
