GMs have until Tues, May 7 to vote. If you like, you may refer to the results of the leaguewide survey that I someone put out on GMOTY criteria.
-Anyone who votes gets 100 RPs.
-GMs get an additional 200 RPs for posting in this thread and advocating on behalf of a GM. Do not advocate on behalf of yourself!
-Do not vote for yourself.
Things to Consider:
-GM proactivity and creativity
-Success in drafting, trades, FA signings, general team building
-Production in the form of wins, losses and team stats
-Delta in team performance from year to year (or in this case, from draft to end of season).
Winner Gets:
-1,000 RPs
-Ability to add or subtract a year to any player's contract on your team. Must be done within one season.
Tiebreaker:
-If any two GMs are tied in 1st place in voting, we will do a ranked-choice procedure for them + anyone within 2 votes of the leader to determine the winner.

I've thought about this for most of the day and narrowed my personal list down to 3 candidates: Jesse, Steven, and Joe.
Jesse came into this season big game hunting and boy did he get some big game. A major offseason trade to acquire DWade took down a Western Conference competitor and gave him a true star. He was able to get Hump man for cheap off of Manty before his pièce de résistance, acquiring Tony Parker. This gives Jesse a generally old team overall but 2 legit superstars that make him the title favorite in my opinion. I think his team is missing another good big, but I respect Jesse's belief in Boban even if I don't share it.
Steven, fresh off the #2 pick, made a series of moves that were all relatively low risk, especially at the time, to position the Nets to compete now and build title equity for the future. Danny Granger was acquired for just a 16 FRP, JJ Redick was acquired for 2 14 FRPs that Steven won't need, and Pops was acquired for free. Out of the gates, it looked like all of this backfired as the Nets were more or less on even ground with the Magic after 20 days. Rather than trading some of the vets and kicking the can down the road, he acquired Tayshaun Prince who propelled the Nets to a 45-20 close to the season and into the 5th seed of an insanely competitive East. Additionally, he hasn't leveraged himself and is primed to become one of the top contenders in the East as Anthony Davis/Kemba/Gobert develop.
Joe ends up here after putting together the 2nd best record in SLN even though JWoo thought his team wasn't very good. Joe made some moves to acquire a front court that could help him properly contend, bringing in Johan Petro and Emeka Okafor. After that, Joe just put together some nice DCs and let PG and Super Cool Beas do their thing. He desperately wanted a trade partner between $3-10M I'm told but unfortunately none materialized to truly put Joe over the top.
This was a lot of words to say I think Steven is my GMOTY candidate. Jesse is a very close 2 but I think just about anyone would've punted at 2-15 but Steven not only doubled down, but succeeded and I think improved his overall title chances moving forward. Props to the Swamp, our likely new overlords in the East as AD rises.

Voted for Jesse. Always the chaotic good, landing Tony Parker and Dwayne Wade was cool. Decidedly g shit. Sacktown’s year over year ambition should be rewarded

Voted for Tonger.
Checked all of the boxes - massive improvement year over year, big balls moves during the season, used every lever at his disposal (trades, free agent signings, draft picks), and also as a newer GM has a rare understanding for RP/market dynamics.

Lots of fun moves this year. Love what Tonger did with the Pacers. He def deserves a shoutout.
I’m torn between Jesse and Hoff.
I thought Jesse won the TP deal by a large margin and he picked the perfect time to cash in his sack. He had a pretty clean ballot and it’s hard to find any flaws with his case. However, ultimately decided to go with Hoff as he is equally as competitive without wagering big time future assets. The Rudy deal was awesome and he rounded out the roster with small but impactful moves. Impressed he was able to put together a true title contender without moving any mavs picks (to my knowledge). I don’t think any contender has done this yet and as a man who isn’t foreign to the concept of leverage, I think maintaining that flexibility is a fun style point to break a tie in a close race in my mind.

I voted Tonger! Tonger has drafted well, made good deals small and big, and signed good FA pieces to usable and tradeable contracts for future years. Looking into the past and development, Tonger has drafted well with 2 cornerstone pieces in Jimmy and Drummond who were key contributors this season. He made small moves for Hart, who has constantly been a game managing playoff PG, and Brand who continues to be a cheap solid big man solution. Then, he took big swings in trading for Bosh, who is a premier big man in the league and fits in nicely next to Drummond, Jimmy, and Co. he also had a successful FA rounding out the squad signing D-Will and Roy who are controversial players but seem to fit his team nicely. Overall, great year Tonger! My #2 and #3 go to Jesse and Steven due to the various moves big and small throughout the season to set them up as championship contenders this year and in the future.

Voted Tonger based on the massive YoY improvement, bringing on a superstar in Bosh, and creating a solid window for contention as Jimmy enters his prime. Jesse was a very very close second.

I voted for tong. Checks all the boxes for a GMOTY candidate. Huge YoY improvement. Made a huge trade, drafted players that are already useful, got players in FA. Set up for sustained success. Has only been in the league for 2 or 3 seasons? Tong is killing it
Jesse also had an incredible season despite his injury luck we have all heard much about. maybe he'll get my gmoty vote next year after selling snake oil boban for 8 picks
