Strengths: Good finisher at the rim. Good midrange shooter. Very quick and very good athleticism. Perimeter defense is passable. Might get close to a steal a game. Good strength.

Weaknesses: Range beyond the arc is very inconsistent. Handles are so-so. Rebounding is a little below average.

Scout's Take: DeRozan has the mold of a pure slasher that will sink his free throws. He is pretty one dimensional at this moment as he doesn't provide much on the defensive end. Scouts feel with proper development, he could be a pretty good guard in the league and they love his upside.
