Ray Allen - HOFer - Vote on Jersey Retirement

Post by mantypas/CavsCzar »

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday SLNers! We are here today to welcome Ray Allen, the sniper, the marksman, the 3 point legend, one of the greatest scorers of all time (SLN), into the SLN HOF. A multi-time all-star, All SLNer, and 2 time 3 point champ, you were a testament to consistency and putting up freaking NUMBERS. Due to some tough breaks, you were unable to get a ring, but you will be remembered in this league asterisked with what ifs on Lindsey Hunter and others.

A creation draft rookie, he was taken with the 7th overall pick by the Washington Bullets. He came in a polished scorer as a rookie averaging 21.6 PPG on 47% from the field and 43% from the three in a year he made the all rookie team. He played with the Bullets for seven seasons where he made some noise, averaging between 20-31 PPG and making several All SLN teams (a 1st, a second, and a third) and four all star teams. When paired with Timmy D, the team was an absolute force, but were held back by poor Lindsey Hunter dying. As Wes decided to blow it up after his best season (posted below), Ray Allen was a casualty, who was traded for an absolute bag to the Suns during the 2003 season to be paired with another HOFer, Jamal Mashburn.

2002 Bullets 77 38.4 885 1866 .474 397 436 .911 239 521 .459 7.4 4.0 1.6 0.2 1.6 3 31.2

Ray Allen spent two seasons in Phoenix in his first stint, averaging about 31.5 PPG on 49% from the field, 94.5% from the FT line, 47% from three (including his highest season avg of 49.3% from 3 - might be the highest ever at that type of volume. He was moved to the knicks, where he spent the next three seasons. He had his highest scoring seasons in New York (pasted below).
2005 Knicks 84 37.9 1048 2120 .494 484 528 .917 279 606 .460 7.5 2.7 1.6 0.3 1.6 0 34.0
2006 Knicks 82 37.3 1044 2246 .465 471 526 .895 268 612 .438 7.4 2.8 1.7 0.3 1.8 2 34.5
2007 Knicks 75 38.0 894 1885 .474 380 432 .880 257 600 .428 7.6 2.9 1.7 0.2 1.6 1 32.3

Playing with Jason Kidd has got to help. He then spent two seasons with the Bulls, three seasons with the Suns, then his final year bouncing around and ending on the Mavs. He was never able to secure that title, but he did average more than 31 PPG for 6 straight seasons, and consistently helped his team.

Ray Allen, you're old ass played a year less than your IRL career, and won way less titles, but you scored way more points, and probably fucked way more chicks. That's enough for me man. Ray you are a legend and will be remembered as a flamethrower who always propelled your team to the playoffs. Def not how you couldnt get over the hump. Not your fault my man, we salute you. Now please vote on his jersey retirement.

Career: --- 1420 34.5 14034 29397 .477 6362 6993 .910 3692 8300 .445 6.6 3.1 1.5 0.2 1.8 18 26.8
