Opening Day Showdown Leads to New Artificial Intelligence in Philadelphia
The transition from the 2018 to 2019 season has been a transformative one here in Philadelphia. We have moved on from the Chosen One in LeBron and are trying to find/solidify our new identity, now that we have a roster with some really good pieces instead of one that was broken with a cheat code.
With that, we opened the season with a Showdown for the Ages in LeBron's return to Philadelphia. The King was welcomed with open arms and big chees(-whiz)y smiles. That is until time was running down in the 4th quarter...
The script was there and LeBron delivered just as Derek Jeter did in his final at bat at Yankee Stadium. Down 2 with time running out, LeBron drains the step back 3 over newly acquired MCW with no time left to let the whole city of Philadelphia know that he most certainly is still that dude. Queue push down celebration, several strong chest bumps in front of the Philly bench, and a long stare-down into the eyes of his former head coach, Hanno Mottola. The devastated 76ers watch as their former leader celebrates with his new team.
While there are sure to be more instant classics just like this one, that stare down from Bron seemingly turned out to be the last bit of NBA action that the Finnish, (SLN) Philly legend could take.
And with that... **BREAKING NEWS**
Hanno Mottola has announced his resignation as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers effective immediately, sighting his "desire to show the Fins how to play ball like LeBron." Yeah... we thought it was odd too.
For whatever reason, the City of Philadelphia has always had a soft spot for Hanno Mottola, since honestly the day he was drafted. He became a fan favorite and was never removed as the head coach due to our ability to always contend with LeBron (and a healthy team). While he will be missed, we see this as an opportunity to bring in a new coach who will set a new tone within the organization and help keep us contending for championships for the foreseeable future.
However, we have been looking at a recently retired SLN vet who did not have the career the world had hoped for, but sure as shit has a great mind for the game with very high Basketball IQ. We were hoping he would be looking to coach in the next phase of his career and are ready for him to get to work.
With that, we are thrilled to announce that the 76ers have hired Andre Iguodala as their new Head Coach! Welcome back AI!!!
