Embrace nostalgia this holiday season - SLN correspondent Sims Charania sat down with former Pistons GM Avu for an interview this week.

Avu left us some time around 2007(?) for undisclosed reasons and left the team to current owner RB. Here’s what he’s been up to since. Sort of?

Q: Remind us all who you are again, for the record.

Avu: I’m Avu, former GM of the Pistons, priest for the Artest Formerly Known As Ron.

Q: On a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best) how has your life been since you left SLN?

Avu: 5 - same as the number of job rejections I’ve gotten in that timeframe.

Q: Do you ever think about SLN? Like literally at all?

Avu: I have fever dreams about Marvin Williams weekly.

4. Have you ever thought about rejoining?

Avu: No.

Q: Without looking, guess how many games the Pistons have won this season.

Avu: 65

Q: What do you miss the most about SLN?

Avu: Tales from the Swamp

Q: What do you miss the least?

Avu: Getting yelled at by my wife for drafting during date night.

Q: Name five things you remember happening when you were in the league, just to see if you can do it

Avu: Jeremy made like 45 trades in a three day window. Manu was better than Kobe. Mehmet OKURRRRR was really good somehow. Tim Duncan was super inefficient. Small ball did not take over.

Q: Which GM do you miss the most?

Avu: Matt

Q: Which GM other than Jeremy spammed you the most?

Avu: The Sonics guy? George Karl?

Q: What would you warn a new GM about joining?

Avu: Draft good players. Do not draft bad players.

Q: What would you say to a GM thinking about quitting?

Avu: Nicorette works, but you have to be committed to the process.

Q: It's currently 2021. Rank your top 10 players from the 2021 draft

Avu: Is Josh Primo a freak in this universe?

Uhhh Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Scottie Barnes, Alperen Sengun, Cam Thomas, Herb Jones, Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga.

Q: Did you know LaVar Ball is the commissioner now and what would you say to him?

Avu:

Q: Lastly, what do you think Kyrie is up to this season?

Avu: Secretary of Health and Human Services OR asking people who get off the Staten Island Ferry what today’s mathematics are, peace to the gods and earths. Nothing in between.

We should start doing exit interviews when people quit. Dub someone Head of HR for RPs.

Who wants to be our Toby?

I have so many things to report to the head of HR, but it all goes to a special file in New York

Jesse has called a lot of GMs cute on the boards in front of everyone - guy thinks it's still 1955 or something. Bet he calls his admin at work "Sugartits"

I’m more keen on drafting good players, developing them, then trading them to your friends
