When Does the Sim God Sim?

We are all addicted to sims. A few weeks ago while collectively jonesing for a sim, a fellow SLNer inspired me to answer the question: When can we expect the Sim God to sim?

To do this, I collected all the dates and times of the Sim God's sim posts on the new boards into a single dataset. This covers the date range of Feb 9, 2024 to May 7, 2025 (the end of last season). Here’s the full dataset if you’d like to do more analysis:


Here are the questions I aimed to answer:

• What are the most common days for a sim?
• What percentage of each day do we have a sim?
• When do we most often get megasims (2 or more sims in one day)?
• What’s the most common hour of each day to expect a sim?
• What's the most common time of each day to expect a sim?

What are the most common days for a sim?

• Sunday – 83 sims
• Wednesday – 79 sims
• Thursday – 72 sims
• Monday – 69 sims
• Friday – 67 sims
• Tuesday – 67 sims
• Saturday – 66 sims

What percentage of each day do we have a sim?

• Sunday – 87.7%
• Monday – 75.4%
• Tuesday – 80.0%
• Wednesday – 78.5%
• Thursday – 79.7%
• Friday – 75.4%
• Saturday – 78.5%

So even though we've gotten among the least sims on Tuesdays, we can still expect a sim on 80% of Tuesdays.

When do we most often get megasims (2 or more sims in one day)?

• Sunday – 15 days
• Friday – 13 days
• Wednesday – 13 days
• Thursday – 12 days
• Monday – 11 days
• Tuesday – 10 days
• Saturday – 9 days

What’s the most common hour of each day to expect a sim?

• Monday: 3 PM (11 sims)
• Tuesday: 2 PM (20 sims)
• Wednesday: 2 PM (15 sims)
• Thursday: 2 PM (24 sims)
• Friday: 1 PM (15 sims)
• Saturday: 12 PM (8 sims)
• Sunday: 7 PM (11 sims)

What's the most common time of each day to expect a sim?

Defined as:

• Morning: 9am-12pm
• Afternoon: 12pm-5pm
• Evening: 5pm-10pm
• Late night: 10pm-2am
• Nocturnal: 2am-9am

Answer:

• Monday: Afternoon (35 sims)
• Tuesday: Afternoon (45 sims)
• Wednesday: Afternoon (46 sims)
• Thursday: Afternoon (43 sims)
• Friday: Afternoon (47 sims)
