Top Free Agents This Offseason

Post by SoNicks »

This is one of the most loaded free agency classes in SLN history. So let me reap that sweet sweet RP breaking it all down for everyone, as a capped out impartial GM in this offseason. There are a lot of teams begging for reasonable resigns… but there are a lot of teams with cap space. This could get bloody!

10 Big Money Stars & Guards:
These Players are difference makers. They will be receiving top-dollar offers on multiyear deals. Some will be maxed!

Jamal Murray - SG 6’4’’ 215 Age 30 - B A A- A- C Cpot.
The FMVP was in his bag last year, continuing another prolific campaign. He added another First All-team last year after playing all 82 Games and sporting a line of : 29PPG on 49/45/89 with 6 RBDs (at PG) 8 Assists and a 1.9 to 1.6 sTOck ratio.

Verdict - MAX MONEY MAX YEARS - Getting a franchise caliber, FMVP player at 30 who could help any team push the chips in immediately? Done deal. If Merv can retain him, itll be a big contract and he'll be hearing a lot of “Lavine’s contract is too big, he's too old” and Merv will be stuck with an aging superstar. There are worse things coming off a championship.

Anthony Davis - C 6’10’’ 253 Age 34 - B+ B C- A- A- Boot
The most talented big man in free agency, and its not close! A DPOY candidate and an elite stat stuffer, AD is a difference maker, and on the right deal is a championship piece. He was All league third team and All defense second team after dropping: 18ppg on 43/41/92 with 14 RPG! His elite 4.7 to 1.4 sTOck ratio is also in historical aire. Defensively and on the boards, AD is in HOF territory with his production.

Verdict - HIGH TEENS 3-5YRS - an elder statesmen of the league definitely draws concerns about his ability to last, talent wise, or retire all together. But given that bigs tend to get thiccer with age, its not as risky to overpay and hope he retires once it gets too ugly. But given his all over impact, a Dikembe Mutumbo end-of-career contract could be coming up. Will Wes Pay out?

Domantas Sabonis - PF 6’10’’ 240 Age 31 - A- A- B B A- Cpot
Coming off an All league second team and all league first team the year before, Saboner is still rock hard, talent wise. He posted a 28.7ppg on 48/47/93 last year with 12 rebounds. His only knock is his 1.6 to 2.5 sTOck ratio, but a big who can score that much every game, all over the court, AND get you near league leading rebounds is a must have these days.

Verdict - MAX MONEY 4-5 YEARS - He is a difference maker, and as long as his contract isnt completely bloated, you can move him for a haul or build a championship squad around him (see 2024 SAC). His scoring is enough to be the primary or secondary option and his rebounding edge is elite! What's not to love? Nets got the cap space for a reasonably lengthened contract, as they have a lot of talent to resign in a few years

MPJ - SF 6’10’’ 218 29 - A- A- C A- B Apot
The man with One Hundred Potential! He has a really solid base and the Hopium that he at 29 could still improve with his massive potential boost. The boost has been slightly baked, but if you think about it, SF develops late so these next few TCs are where you’d see the gainzzz. He dropped 22.5ppg on 47/47/74. If his JS improves he'll be a flat A scorer. If his IS improves, he'll be a 30ppg guy! Dropping a 9.4 RPG at SF is nice. And he's currently at 2.1 to 2.8 sTOck ratio and if this goes into the green, hell be firmly ELITE

Verdict - HIGH TEENS MAX YEARS - There is some risk that he never develops and you are stuck with an albatross (not the good kind) but if this potential comes through, then you got a superstar. He might be 29, but I think retiring is somewhat attached to potential as much as age, so he will be around in his late 30s I’d bet.

Donovan Mitchell
- SG 6’3’’ 215 31 - A- A- A- A- C Cpot
A Superstar with Super Ratings. 4 A-’s is amazing. I love just looking at it! Purely on ratings, DM is in the all time conversation. He’s coming off a “down year” in a stacked Hawks offense. 21ppg on 45/44/91 splits with 1.7:2.3 sTOck ratio. He might not be THE dude, but he's the Scottie Pippen of #2’s. He will help you compete for the crown.

Verdict - HIGH TEENS 3/5 YEARS - you can safely assume DM is going to be high caliber another 2-3 seasons at minimum. Those last couple overpay years are just the cost of doing business. Hawks should be swinging on this man. Only those coming correct have a shot at him.

Lauri Markkanen - SF 7’00’’ 240 30 - A- A- D+ B B Cpot
Our first 7 footer after a ton of 6’10’’ bigs, we got wing unicorn Lauri Markkanen. Smack dab in the middle of his prime, this 30yr old is looking to cash in and get a big multiyear deal on a team looking to win now. He dropped 23ppg on 47/42/79 splits last year with a clean 1.6:1.8 sTOck ratio. He gets you 8-9RPG, this SF can be an efficient number 2 option and keep you clean in the rebounding and sTOck department.

Verdict - HIGH TEENS 5-7 YEARS - I doubt Portland is going to let lauri walk for nothing, so i bet he’s willing to go as far as a logical clean top money offer will take him. So come correct if you’re wanting to lock down this bucket.

Fred VanVleet - PG 6’0’’ 197 33 - C A B A- C Cpot
A Jazz staple 90%+ of his career. FVV might be looking to play for a new team for the third time in his career. After a rough couple years, FVV became a renaissance man during his contract renewal year. He dropped 24 PPG on 46/44/95 splits with a 3.1:2.9 sTOck ratio.

VERDICT - LOW TEENS 2/4 YEARS - There are many directions you can go with FVV. Some will not take a multiyear swing on him due to his age. But FVV still appears to have enough in the tank to be a highly effective starting PG on a championship squad. His bids could be wildly variable in both amount and duration. Do you go big money on a 1-2 year or do you give him a lower, end of his career length deal and eventually start praying that he retires.

Scoot - PG 6’2’’ 495 23 - B A- B- A- C- Boot
I mean magic can't pay everyone can they? Probably. Que up the rookie max! Scoot is a young, precocious post rookie contract stud who is young and eager for that rookie max. Does Merv want to pay for that? Do you want to risk nabbing some of these other studs for mere sheckles? Tune in next time on Mervgic Ball Z

VERDICT - ROOKIE MAX - See Above. Merv could get cheeky with its FA1 if everyone gets target hungry on the unrestricted FAs.

Jean Montero - PG 6’2’’ 172 24 - C B+ A+ A- C- Cpot
I’ll be honest. This dude wasn’t flying under my radar. He wasn’t on it at all. Coming off the rookie deal, This dude was a beast year four. Dropped 22ppg on 46/39/85 splits with a studly 2.5:1.8 sTOck ratio! “I like it a lot”

VERDICT - DARE I SAY ROOKIE MAX? - Nah i think a 10-12.5mm deal for him is probably where he’ll get done at, but he is nice enough to maybe dictate a yolo on a rookie max? IDK, but i’d certainly love to trade for him.

Lonzo Ball - PG 6’6’’ 190 29 - C- A- A+ A C Cpot
Jwoo’s step-son, the prodigal son of the West, has become a steadfast defensive point guard. He is not high volume, but he is high stock. He posted 14.6ppg on 46/40/83 splits with a studly 3.4:2.2 sTOck ratio with 6 RPG

VERDICT - LOW TEEN 4/5 YEAR - Another Montero-like PG who adds a lot of defensively. He finally is efficient and if he had slightly lower TOs he’d be a very very very nice star PG.

The Top Dollar Ass

Derek Lively - A B+ butt who dropped 8ppg on 40/60 with 10 RPG and 3.5:1.4 sTOck ratio. Hes already be flipped to the hawks via the RFA. The best defender available. Do you want to get paid rp to send him to Atlanta very expensively? VERDICT TEEN FLAT 6YR

Jonathan Isaac - B- B A A- butt who dropped 11ppg on 40/44/83 with 12RPG and 4.8:1.0 sTOck ratio. Maybe this guy is actually the best defender avail. Huge stocks, huge rebounds. Efficiency. Yeesh. VERDICT MID HIGH TEENS 5YR

Andre Drummond - A- A- butt who dropped 12.7 on 43/49 with 12.7 RPG and 3.8:1.6 sTOck Ratio. Another prolific big in a very deep FA Ass-Class. clASS. VERDICT MID HIGH TEENS 2-3YRS

Udoka Azubuike - B A- butt who dropped 10ppg on 41/54 with 11rpg and a 3.2:1.5 sTOck ratio. Another day, another thicc one. Dookie Bookie is only 28 with Nice rebounding and stocks. VERDICT - LOW TEEN FLAT 6YR DEAL

Bismack Biyombo - B+ B+ BBu++ who dropped 3ppg on who cares splits with 9.7RPG 3.2:0.7 sTOcks ratio. This man is one of the closest things to Lasasagna Plop in a long while. A staple in NY looking for a new deal. VERDICT - LOW TEENS 2/3 YRS

Brandon Clarke - B A butt who dropped 8.9 ppg on 38/34/75 with 11RPG and 2.6:1.0 sTOck Ratio. The best rebounder in the FA class with excellent Stocks and low TO. Perfect! VERDICT UNDER 10MM MULTIYEAR DEAL

Difference makers (for the right price)
Zion Williamson - A+ IS and is only 27. Would Zion dominate in an IS offense?
Jared Sullinger - Has he FINALLY become a great efficient thicc ass? Looks like that +20Potential a decade+ ago worked lol
Jarrett Culver - Flat A defender at 28? Could be a nice MLE or LLE
Darius Garland - Flat A OS who can score 15-20 efficiently! Always nice to have
Bradley Beal - Old man Brad got one more campaign in him?
Luguentz Dort - Best of the bunch. Hes 28 and looking for a long term deal as that 5th or 6th minute guy on the wings.
Trae Young - Never really came around did he? MLE/LLE
Josh Giddey - a 25 YO do it all looking for a little more TC love and a deal to shine with.
Alex Caruso - A solid, rebounding, stocky PG who looked nice af in Utah.
Brandon Miller - 25. Might be something?

RP Fundraiser - RFA Tags

Great players who are tagged and will be retained by the current squads regardless of the contract. Great for those in need of RP stimulus vs the available stars on the market.

Derek Lively - Already mentioned. Might be Rookie Maxed
Scoot - Already Mentioned. Rookie Maxed
Cam Whitmore - Rookied maxed. Sonicks got room and love him.
Zaccharie Risacher - Rookie Max. Nugz got room and love him.
