GMOTY 2030-2031

Post by Clinton »

Voting is open now and will remain open until Thursday EOD. Chair this season is Clint, text your top 3 to me (703-400-1558)
Reminder that you can vote for whoever you like, not just the people on this list

As a reminder, here is the process:
- Our esteemed GMOTY committee has selected 7 GMOTY Finalists
- To submit your vote, text your RANKED TOP THREE choices to the GMOTY Committee Chair (Clinton, 703-400-1558). All voters will earn 100 RP, just as they did in the prior format.
- After votes are tallied, I'll post the winner in this thread (or will post a runoff in the event of a tie). After the winner has been posted, feel free to post your voting rationale in this thread for the bonus 200 RP
- Feel free to refer to the rule change thread here https://simleaguenirvana.com/posting.ph ... it&p=43976

Winner Gets:
-1,000 RPs
-Ability to add or subtract a year to any player's contract on your team. Must be done within one season.

Must apply removal year (if only year) prior to Day 1 of FA. If you do it during FA, it will remove "Last Team" and bird rights and FBB will not let Ashes change that.

GMOTY 2030-2031 Finalists (in alphabetical order)

Derek(Bucks)
Team Performance:57-25, +5.0 (last year: 26-56, -6.9)
Trades Made:
  • Bucks 2032 FRP for Desmond Bane
  • Devin Booker, MIL 31 FRP, SA 33 FRP, 1000 RP for Myles Turner
  • FVV, MIL 33 FRP, MIA 31 2RP, MIA 32 2RP, 300 RP for Lauri Markkanen
  • Caleb Martin, CHI 31 FRP, MIL 34, 35, 36 FRP for JT Toppin, MIL 31 FRP
Net Assets Out:
  • Players: Devin Booker, FVV, and Caleb Martin
  • Picks: MIL 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, CHI 31, SA 33, MIA 31 2RP, and Mia 32 2RP
  • RP: 1300 RP
Net Assets In:
  • Players: Desmond Bane, Myles Turner, Lauri Markkanen, and JT Toppin
  • Picks: N/A
  • RP: N/A
Relevant FA Signings: None
Depth Chart: Normal
Overall Value Added: In a season in which the Bucks were on the tank clock and needed to win, Derek flipped the switch, trading all 6 Milwaukee FRPs (getting one back in the JT Toppin deal, along with two other firsts and 1300 RP. His return for that haul included Myles Turner, who he utilized at PF and who put up excellent numbers, along with Lauri, Desmond Bane, and JT Toppin. With home-grown prospect Jeremiah Fears running point, the Bucks slapped together a roster of their own draft picks and newfound veteran stars to go 57-25 and make a huge leap in year one of contention. With Turner’s monster contract expiring, they should be in good shape to run it back (provided they can retain him) and should be a force in the East to contend with the established juggernaut Raptors and Cavs for the next few seasons.

GX(Lakers)
Team Performance: 58-24, +11.5; Last Season: 50-32, +5.2
Trades Made:
  • 10/17/25: Lakers trade Bobert Williams, Caleb Wilson, Tyrese Haliburton, Draydne McDaniel, LAL 34 & 35 FRP, LAL 34 & 35 SRP, 69RP. Hawks trade Shai Gilgous Alexander, Vit Krejci
  • 10/27/25: Lakers trade Marcus Jones Jr., Vit Krejci, and LAL 30 FRP. Rockets trade Donovan Cling-Clong, Sandro Mamukelashvli, and HOU 37 FRP.
  • 10/31/25: Lakers trade Thon Maker and 500RP. Mavericks trade Marquise Chriss.
  • 11/07/25: Lakers trade Dylan Betts, Jordan Page, and 400RP. Jazz trade Liam Robbins.
Net Assets Out:
  • Players: Bobert Williams, Caleb Wilson, Tyrese Haliburton, Draydne McDaniel, Marcus Jones Jr., Thon Maker, Dylan Betts, and Jordan Page.
  • Picks: LAL 30, 34, & 35 FRP(s). LAL 34 & 35 SRP(s)
  • RP: 969 RP
Net Assets In:
  • Players: Shai Gilgous Alexander, Donovan Clingan, Sandro Mamuke, Marquise Chriss, Liam Robbins.
  • Picks: HOU 37 FRP
  • RP: N/A
Relevant FA Signings:
  • Jaylen Brown(1 yr), Miles Bridges(LLE)
Depth Chart:
  • Outside offense. Messed around a tad with press and trap(mostly Often/Often). Shai and AG 1 and 2 options all year.
Overall Value Added: The Lakers went from a good team to a dominant team this season. GX never rests on his laurels, trying to maximize his team every sim. Still having ammo from the rebuild, GX traded for his superstar in SGA. Breaking Dirks legendary PPG record along the way. Flipping for a ready made big in Cling Clang was a nice swing to boost the Lakers FC with teams like the Kings stacking their FCs. GX made the right trades and knew what to do with his DCs. Found it and didnt fuck around with it. Make all the trades you want, but putting them in the right position makes a good GM as well. After sucking for a while GX has officially entered the upper echelon of the league, hopefully staying there for a long time.

Jesse(Kings)
Team Performance: 53-29, +5.7; Last Season: 35-47, -2.8
Trades Made:
  • 10/15/25: Kings trade CHI 30 SRP and Cap Space. Raptors trade Josh Hart and 800RP.
  • 10/20/25: Kings trade Shalen Sheppard, Hudson Greer, and Jalonney Billingsley. Magic trade Rui Hityomama.
  • 10/24/25: Kings trade Kameron Mercer, Marcis Ponder, Toby Ramarontsoa, Josh Hart, UTA 32 FRP, DET 32 & 33 FRP(s), and LAC 33 FRP. Hawks trade Cameron Boozer, Kip Anderson, Logan Chwastyk.
  • 10/27/25: Kings trade Logan Allen, Logan Chwastyk, and Kip Anderson. Magic trade Jaylon Tyson, Jarrett Culver, Kasparas Jakucionis, ORL 32 SRP, and 420RP.
  • 10/31/25: Kings trade Lonzo Ball and VAN 31 FRP. Nuggets trade Isaac Bonga and Santi Aldama.
  • 10/31/25: Kings trade Cameron Boozer and Santi Aldama. Pacers trade Alperen Sengun, UTA 33 FRP, and 269 RP.
  • 11/11/25: Kings trade Alperen Sengun, Jaylon Tyson, Nathan Soliman(NDL), and SAS 31 FRP. Spurs trade Derik Queen, Jaden McDaniels, SAS 36 FRP, and 1500 RP.
Net Assets Out:
  • Players: Shalen Sheppard, Hudson Greer, Jalonney Billingsley, Kameron Mercer, Marcis Ponder, Toby Ramarontsoa, Logan Allen, Lonzo Ball, and Nathan Soliman(NDL).
  • Picks: VAN 31 FRP, SAS 31 FRP, UTA 32 FRP, DET 32 & 33 FRP(s), LAC 33 FRP, and CHI 30 SRP.
  • RP: N/A
Net Assets In:
  • Players: Rui Hachimura, Jarrett Culver, Kasparas Jakucionis, Isaac Bonga, Derik Queen, and Jaden McDaniels.
  • Picks: ORL 32 SRP, UTA 33 FRP, SAS 36 FRP
  • RP: 2989 RP
Relevant FA Signings:
  • Lonzo Ball(resign)
Depth Chart:
  • The most annoying DCs ever. Maybe 40/30/20 b/w Inside/Balanced/Outside as Kings offense. Rui was #1 option for 95% of the year. Everything outside of him was changed multiple times.
Overall Value Added: When Jesse gets restless, watch out. Trading for the GOAT Rui Hachimura to start the year, the Kings chose violence(Inside LYFE). Putting Rui/Paolo/and CAM BOOZER together. After getting utterly bored with the dominance, Jesse flipped Boozer for Sengun because FUCK IT! Senguns time lasted a lot longer(11 days) than Boozers(7 days) in SAC though. Jesse tried everything with his team this season though, and decided to go and get Derik Queen because it would bring his vision together even better. We write these up every year and i personally find it absurd that Jesse made all these trades and somehow ended up going +2989 in RP. Wild. Jesse really flipped from tank to winning, a year in advance before the tank clock ended and it worked out. Seriously though, if you have time, look at the Kings DCs. Jesse added the pieces and did well with them.

Jordo(Spurs)
Team Performance: 53-29, +3.6; Last Season: 41-41, +0.3
Trades Made:
  • 10/16/25: Spurs trade Toumani Camara, Jordan Bell, SAS 30, 34, & 35 SRP(s). Raptors trade Nique Clifford
  • 10/20/25: Spurs trade 10RP. Pacers trade Jeremy Jenkins(NDL).
  • 11/11/25: Spurs trade Derik Queen, Jaden McDaniels, SAS 36 FRP, 1500RP. Kings trade Alperen Sengun, Jaylon Tyson, Nathan Soliman(NDL), SAS 31 FRP.
  • 11/11/25: Spurs trade Franz Wagner and SAS 36 SRP. Bullets trade Keldon Johnson.
Net Assets Out:
  • Players: Toumani Camara, Jordan Bell, Derik Queen, Jaden McDaniels, and Franz Wagner
  • Picks: SAS 30, 34, 35, & 36 SRP(s). SAS 36 FRP
  • RP: 1510 RP
Net Assets In:
  • Players: Nique Clifford, Jeremy Jenkins(NDL), Alperen Sengun, Jaylon Tyson, Nathan Soliman(NDL), and Keldon Johnson.
  • Picks: SAS 31 FRP
  • RP: N/A
Relevant FA Signings:
  • LAMElo Ball(resign-MAX), Franz Wagner(LLE), Luke Kornet
Depth Chart:
  • Fast/Often/Never/Outside for 85% of the year. Jamal/Melo/Nique were Jordo's most trusted options. Pretty consistent starting unit and big rotation. Assuming changes came because of injuries.
Overall Value Added: Where would this team be without Nique Clifford? Too many cameras couldn't handle the river walk but Nique instantly became Jordo's bottom bitch and most loved player in a hot minute. After last years off-court debacles hurting the on-court product, there was a FANtaSTIc rebound for the ex-MVP, LAMElo Ball. Things came into perspective for the players when Jordo not only bashed his new adopted son, Nique, but also traded away what was supposedly a life-time Spur in Derik Queen. These Jordos aint loyal bumbumbuhbuddabuh, these Jordos aint loyal. Jordo got this team over the inability to close games from the prior season though. A feat that clearly did not go unnoticed by his fellow GMs. Only time will tell if Sengoon is better than Queen but atm the Spurs are vibin and Jordo did a great job of not ruining his future to be better.

Jwoo(Raptors)
Team Performance: 59-23, +11.7; Last Season: 61-21, +11.5
Trades Made:
  • Nique Clifford for Toumani Camara, Jordan Bell, 3 SRPs
  • DeAndre Ayton, Anthony Thompson, 2033 FRP, 400 RP for Otto Porter Jr., Usman Garuba, Herb Jones
  • Ancillary draft day trades, and cap spacing freeing trades
Net Assets Out:
  • Players: Nique Clifford, DeAndre Ayton, and Anthony Thompson
  • Picks: TOR 33 FRP
  • RP: Yes
Net Assets In:
  • Players: Toumani Camara, Otto Porter Jr., Usman Garuba, Herb Jones
  • Picks: 3 SRPS
  • RP: N/A
Relevant FA Signings:
  • Omaha Biliew
Depth Chart:
  • Balanced for 90% of the season, switched to outside for the last 2 sims
Overall Value Added: Jwoo put together a great season, built on the steady growth of his young guys. He didn’t make any big swings this year but still came close to 60 wins, all while opening up cap space for the future. The Raptors dealt with injuries nonstop but kept grinding and stayed competitive the whole way. That really shows how much depth Jwoo has built around the edges of the roster.

Kittles(Nets)
Team Performance: 62-20, +9.3; Last Season: 47-35, +5.7
Trades Made:
  • 11/07/25: Nets trade Ace Flagg and 125RP. Bullets trade Darrion Williams.
  • 11/11/25: Nets trade Keldon Johnson and 300RP. Bullets trade Maxime Raynaud.
Net Assets Out:
  • Players: Ace Flagg and Keldon Johnson
  • Picks: N/A
  • RP: 425 RP
Net Assets In:
  • Players: Darrion Williams and Maxime Raynaud
  • Picks: N/A
  • RP: N/A
Relevant FA Signings:
  • Mikal Bridges(resign), Keldon Johnson, Isaiah Hartenstein
Depth Chart:
  • Very Fast/Normal/Normal/Outside for 90% of the season. Mikal #1 option for 65% of season. Luka #2 for the whole season. Only change to starting lineup was replacing Mikal w/ Nijuan Harris.
Overall Value Added: The other side of the coin, when less is more. That is how Kittles approached this season and it got him the #1 seed in the East. Sometimes we just have to accept that hunkering down and letting the team develop is doing a good job...if the team is amazing. Luka got back on his level and making Nijuan Harris his starter and Mikal the super-combo wing sub did wonders for this team. He may not have any FRPs in the near future but if his team is this good then he should be fine for a long time. Yeah, not a lot to say but Kittles did the damn thing.

Merv(Magic)
Team Performance: 52-30, +3.8 (Last Year: 50-32, +5.7)
Trades Made:
  • Traded Rui Hachimura to Sacramento for Shalen Sheppard, Hudson Greer and Jalonney Billingsley
  • Traded Hudson Greer, ORL 32 FRP and 269 RP to Atlanta for Robert Williams
  • Traded Ryan Hampton, Nash Avery and 250 RP to Miami for Jalen Smith
  • Traded Jaylon Tyson, Jarrett Culver, Kasparas Jakucionis, ORL 36 SRP and 420 RP to Sacramento for Dante Allen, Logan Chwastyk and Kip Anderson
Net Assets Out:
  • Players: Rui Hachimura, Ryan Hampton, Nash Avery, Jaylon Tyson, Jakob Poeltl (signed with SEA in FA)
  • Picks: ORL 32 FRP, ORL 36 SRP
  • RP: 939 RP
Net Assets In:
  • Players: Shalen Sheppard, Robert Williams, Jalen Smith, Dante Allen, Logan Chwastyk
  • Picks: N/A
  • RP: N/A
Relevant FA Signings:
  • Josh Minnott to 2-year minimum deal worth $1,806,700, Magic fan favorite Yuki Kawamura to 1-year minimum contract
Depth Chart:
  • The Magic tinkered early before achieving great success with a pace adjustment from Very Fast to Fast. Gradey Dick, Scoot Henderson and Marvin Bagley served as options for most of the year, with Dick emerging as the most common No. 1. Orlando moved from Shalen Sheppard to Time Lord as the starting 4 early on, with Jalen Smith playing prominent front court minutes after the trade with Miami. Veteran Trey Murphy III also saw an enhanced role as the season progressed.
Overall Value Added: Orlando did an outstanding job of re-tooling throughout the 2030-31 season. One year after moving Jamal Murray, they sent All-SLN mainstay Rui Hachimura to Sacramento and remained a consistent winner. In fact, without a steady diet of mid season injuries, their win total would almost certainly have been higher.

The Magic enter an exciting new era centered on Scoot & Edey, and can also work with outstanding forward prospect Shalen Sheppard. It was a near-perfect transition that secured their future while maintaining contender status in the present. As an Atlantic foe, I’m always impressed by Merv’s ability to keep his team at elite levels of ball control and rebounding.

Tonger(Pacers)
Team Performance: 42- 40, +2.8; Last Season 41 - 41, +0.5
Trades Made:
  • Sinan Huan for OG Anunoby and Christian wood
  • Zach Lavine, christian wood, and santi almada for Tyus Jones and 75 RP
  • Alperen Sengun, UTA 33 FRP, 269 RPs for Cameron Boozer and Santi Almada
  • Jeremy Jenkins for 10 RP
  • 25 RP for R2P16
  • Pick 11, Ind 31m MIA 33, IND 35 for Pick 6
  • 500 RP for Jeremy Jenkins
  • Nikola Kusturica for Pick 11
Net Assets Out:
  • Players: Sinan Huan, Zach Lavine, Christian Wood, Santi Almada, Jeremy Jenkins, Alperen Sengun, Nikola Kusturica
  • Picks: UTA 33 FRP, Pick 11, IND 31, MIA 33, IND 35
  • RP: 800 RP
Net Assets In:
  • Players: Cam Boozer, Tyus Jones
  • Picks: Pick 6, R2P16
  • RP: 85 RP
Relevant FA Signings:
  • Matisse Thybulle (3 Years)
Depth Chart:
  • Outside offense, Lopez, Tyus, Labaron as options for most of the year, lotta playing with trap and press ended on normal and always respectively
Overall Value Added: Tong went through quite the shuffle this season, trading a bag of picks to move up in the draft, shuffling Sengun for Boozer to get younger, Moving from Lavine to Tyus, weathering Labaron injury in the middle of the season, all while not leveraging the future too much. Didnt see much Year over year improvement but this team seems poised to compete for a while with this young core of Labaron and Boozer.

What if I told you a team went +12 in the win column, +3.3 in the differential column, and got home court advantage in the playoffs and didn’t get a write up vs Tong and I. 🤔

Feedback obv taken - but hopefully everyone understands that we’re never intentionally leaving anyone out. Feel like these comments could be made in a less snarky, more positive manner that celebrates the GM rather than throwing shade at and condescending to the committee
