Dragon Ball SLN

With the news of Akira Toriyama’s passing today, I thought there was no better way to honor his legacy by comparing a group of legendary to GMs to his legendary characters.
Nice guy disclaimer, I hope no one takes any offense to these comps, I fucking love all of these characters. I also really ran out of steam towards the end.
Ashes- Shenron

Eternal Dragon, Dragon God
I wish for:
Anthony Davis
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Nikola Jokic
Goku – Nick

The main character of the SLN saga having won three championships, time and again finding reservoirs of strength or a new level. When in doubt he can always rely on his trusty yet deadly Kamehameha wave (Dirk).
Piccolo – Kipke

Takes his tree father duties as seriously as Piccolo did training Gohan after Goku was killed while fighting Raddtiz. An incredibly strong GM in his own right it’s worth noting that this Namekian is the only non-Saiyan character that can keep up with the likes of Goku and Vegeta.
Tien - Mantypas

Disciplined, principled and heavily devoted to the classic forms of martial arts (Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett)
Kami – Pankin

Observing the league from his lookout, making appearances when he needs to. When he does, they’re freaking awesome.
Krillin – Jordo

Poor fighting record and propensity to trade FRPs has become a bit of a running joke at this point. The most memorable of his many deaths came at the hands of Frieza (trading Devin Harris to the Raptors). He may never be the strongest, or the most…alive but he’ll always be there for his friends.
Frieza- Jwoo

Unyielding and incredibly powerful tyrant who rules the largest empire in the DBZ universe. He wont hesitate to blow up a planet…or his roster if it means he’s one step closer to complete domination.
Beerus The Destroyer – Hoff

God of destruction, no one has torn down and rebuilt a roster more than Hoff.
Bulma- Nav

Not necessarily a fighter but one of the most determined and smartest characters in the DBZ universe. The Z fighters would be as clueless without her dragon radar as we would be not copying Nav’s pick’ems.
Gohan – Tyler

Possibly the strongest fighter in the universe but notably chose a more righteous path as a scholar (business school) and only fights in times of need. Responsible for of the most memorable moments in league history like the first blockbuster trade and playing Spree at the 4.
Side note – watching Gohan go Super Saiyan 2 on Toonami for the first time when I was 10 years old is one of my favorite TV viewing memories of all time
Android 18 – Bobby

Word on the street is 10-year-old Bobby had a huge crush on Android 18 and who could blame him, she was fine asl. Did you guys know Bobby went viral on a “What do good looking guys do for a living” Tik Tok?
Narrator – Steven

I would a argue the DBZ narrator is as important to the show as any of the Saiyans:
It is a secret we have known before Gohan could even form words in his mouth, through fights with Raditz, the Ginyu Force, Garlic Jr, and even Frieza, we have caught glimpses of the child's explosive power. But like an explosion it always vanished with the moment, it couldn't be controlled, until now. At last the beastly power has been harnessed, Gohan has awoken. Now Cell will battle a warrior 11 years in the making, on the next Dragon Ball Z!
This quote got me almost as jazzed up as a newly published Swampstory
Broly - Wes

If Wes is getting the Mountain comp in Westeros, DBZ’s equivalent must be Broly. Broly is just fucking awesome.
Final Form Cell – Josh

Near limitless growth potential, deserves credit for waiting for his players to reach their full potential. And now that he’s reached his final form he’s damn near unstoppable.
Recent development out of Phoenix, it looks as though the suns organization are replacing their training facility with a Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
Master Roshi – Weilheimer

Hilarious as he is wise, DBZ would not be complete without Master Roshi’s comedic relief. Not to mention he’s one of the strongest martial artists the Earth has to offer.
Majin Buu (Good Form) – Dmo

Fighting is not necessarily his priority, but his favorite tactic, turning people into candy (deploying LeBron at the 1 or the 3) is damn near unstoppable.
Vegeta – Matt

Arguably the strongest fighter in the universe but relegated to second best for too long. No amount of high-gravity training or elite PG play has taken Matt to the promised land yet, but maybe Super Saiyan blue is right around the corner?
Fortune Teller Baba – Clinton

Bad bish goes by the beat of her own crystal ball. What does she see in the crystal ball? Its probably Monta whooping Cell at the Cell games.
King Cold – Derek

Emperor and King of Universe 7, he believes highly in the superiority of his family (his roster). Father of two incredibly powerful sons (Kevin Durant and LaMarcus Aldridge).
Captain Ginyu – Ralph

Elite fighter and mercenary, eccentric leader of the feared Ginyu Force who’s never afraid to speak his mind. Possesses the power to change bodies (Dominate the league or tank)
Android 17 – Jburns

The most powerful android, the classic don’t judge a book by it’s cover, and don’t mess with the two-time SLN champ.
Goten – Merv

Entered SLN with a lot of promise, reached Super Saiyan strength (the playoffs) far sooner than most would have thought and only continues to get the stronger.
King Kai – Jesse

Brilliant mentor and one of the strongest beings in the universe, I believe there’s no DBZ without King Kai just like believe there’s no SLN without Jesse.
Chioutzu – Tonger

Came right in, attached himself to Nappa and blew that roster sky high, now he’s training with King Kai to bring the Pacers back to the top.
Mr. Satan – GX

Is he a true fighter? Everything we’ve seen so far tells us yes but he’s gotta prove it!
Android 16 – Nolan

Insane glow up for Android 16, most well known for his patent Rocket Punch attack on imperfect Cell.
Scoops – Yamcha

Brave, boastful and confident, he was one of the strongest fighters earth had to offer during the early sagas of DBZ (Shaq era)
Pikkon – Quady

The strongest fighter from the west quadrant of the galaxy. Extremely wise, using this to his advantage in building a team over time that is now dominant.
Korin – RB

Dishes out sensu beans for minimal RP, feel like those beans are worth a fortune.
Future Trunks – Joe

A loyal and uncompromising warrior molded by the dark timeline (everyone telling him it was the Celtics year). Extremely versatile, he can come at you with his Ultra-Super-Saiyan strength or with precision sword skills.
