2017-18 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Mo Bamba is gonna be cool. Miles Bridges might not be good, and does not respect women. Lots of love for my Villanova guys, there should be a secret stip about getting them all to play together to make them incredible. Very deep draft, pretty pumped with Lonnie Walker as a late NDL guy who will torch that league and hopefully bring the Charge a second title

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Not in love with Matt getting livingston and making it a mission to make his picks not great but eh, injuries can happen. We are taking a pretty big swing on a guy people think stink, but PG in real life had a very good late career blossom, and we've seen it with a bunch of guys at his position. With granger expiring, it makes sense to reload younger at that position. Also excited to see what DLO has in store with another TC

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Would love to see a big pop from DLO - still showing a B potential. If he can get on the Lavine train of defense increases, getting him to a flat B defense would be ideal. Would love to see Nerlens get to an A- offense. Biggest thing is the NDL actually. Would love to see OG get up to an A- defense, and would like to see thon pop up to a B- rebounds and/or B+ Defense. A Maxi Kleber increase could be cool too, he was kinda poopy last year. Incredible 3 ball in the NDL - 2 of 17 for the season was kinda brutal. Also, if Jae crowder could get some positive regression, that'd be cool

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: the Knicks. I think the Magic are close, but potentially losing Randle/Eddy Curry will hurt
Central: Raptors - I think the BJ acquisition helps this team a lot but they are def a tad worse this year without TP and his lack of Tos
Midwest: Mavs - I think Jameers retirement is a huge blow to the Jazz, and though the Grizz and Twolves are right up there, the Kyrie of things makes me lean towards Dallas. I also like Gobert as another anchor next to whiteside
Pacific: Suns- Boban, reigning champs, etc

5. What team needs to pick a direction this offseason, and what direction should they pick?
I feel like the nets already have with their moves, so I will go with the Lakers. They have a ton of young guys that are a bit duplicitous. I'd like to see them push to make the playoffs. Weak division, If i jump in the trade machine and have Iggy, Ellenson, and maybe the Jazz pick for this year for Gordon Hayward, who says no?

6. Excluding your team, what is the player or team storyline you're going to be watching most closely this year?
I think Im watching the top 4 picks in the draft and who has the biggest immediate impact. Does SGA make the Bucks not a stinky loser? Can Luka immediately start next to Livingston? How well is Brunson gonna play for the Sonicks immediately? Does trae young win games for the bullets who want to continue to tank?

7. We're 20 seasons and 2 calendar years in and we are all so grateful to have this league. If you hadn't decided to join SLN, what dumb useless hobby (e.g., community service work, getting a pet, spending more time with your family and friends) would you have chosen instead to fill your time?

I'd probably work out more or spend more time with family. Nah who am i kidding, I'd probably just play more video games or be wayyyyy more productive at work

8. Instead of a player rating boost, come up with an idea for a 20th anniversary gift to all the GMs.
One free scout every season

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Commanders suck! Wizards nothing has changed. Villanova not much has changed. and all my fantasy football teams are mid

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
My GF has been watching an insane amount of the George Lopez show on peacock post the olympics. It actually isnt too bad. For anyone that watched the Harley Quinn show on Max, they made a Kite Man show which is surprisingly pretty awesome

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Stoked to have grabbed the last player with Draft Notes (Wenyen Gabriel) with the 17th pick in the second round!

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Mind is in flux... I know what I should do (move Bron to rebuild) but its hard to bring myself to really look into the trades available out there.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Hope to see improvement from all of my old heads!

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks. Best team in the division and enough PGs out there where they will be able to contend again.
Central: Hawks. Bringing back this squad will ensure another deep run.
Midwest: Mavs. Such a good squad and I think will outlast the other contenders in the division.
Pacific: Suns still so good and could easily repeat.

5. What team needs to pick a direction this offseason, and what direction should they pick?

The Sixers! And we need to do the right GD thing!

6. Excluding your team, what is the player or team storyline you're going to be watching most closely this year?

I would love to see JWoo make moves to get all of my future FRPs back (or most) so that it could be an easier decision to move Bron lol.

7. We're 20 seasons and 2 calendar years in and we are all so grateful to have this league. If you hadn't decided to join SLN, what dumb useless hobby (e.g., community service work, getting a pet, spending more time with your family and friends) would you have chosen instead to fill your time?

Prob more time with friends and in front of the TV.

8. Instead of a player rating boost, come up with an idea for a 20th anniversary gift to all the GMs.

Idk something where he creates 29 stips and we all get to pick one? Could lead to some craziness.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Yanks are doing just okay at the end but better as of late. V excited for the Eagles to improve upon game 1.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Rewatching Modern Family for maybe the first time ever (saw it a million times on Cable) but I forgot how funny it was.

2017-18 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
I was vocal about this on pods, but I think the steal of the draft was Deandre Ayton at 8. I had him at 3 on my board and his notes and starting rating are basically Pau Gasol... TC is going to determine his future but I think it is a very fun, low risk bet at 8. Anfernee Simmons at 16 was also great value. Love getting a teenager with A pot and I know Joe does too. Thought the second round was very deep and I'm sure some of those fellas turn into SLN role players too. Super fun draft, wish I had pick!

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Salary cap and previous decisions forced us to ship off Livingston to Chicago. I'm hoping Wall keeps his TOs in check in an inside offense as a non-option but I was happy to snag MCW as an insurance policy in case that experiment falls flat. . Goals are to repeat of course!

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Hoping Joker takes another step forward as he still only 23 and we know SF's development can be late. Would love Marquesse Chriss to continue to improve but keep his rebounding B+ or lower so he can continue to start at SF. He is a low volume shot funnel that does all the thing you want in a big, defend, stock, board.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks but I think the Nets are going to be feisty after the Blake Griffin addition. Poor Merv, wanted to go Magic here but the Eddy Curry loss is tough.
Central: I'll say Raptors so JWoo doesn't manufacture a narrative that no one thinks they are good. In all seriousness, I've liked their offseason so far though and I don't think TP to Jennings is as big of a downgrade as the other questionnaires have made out. With that A- defense, it could end up being a slight upgrade.
Midwest: I'll say Grizzlies. This division is still tough but with Jameer departing, I think the Jazz are going to be hard pressed to fill that hole while maintaining their core. Grizz have most of their picks and Brandon Ingram / Dunn to push more chips in to contend. Mavericks are the best team in the league if Kyrie is stable.
Pacific: I'll say the Kings. I hope I am wrong as we will certainly try to be in the mix but Jesse has accumulated some assets and I expect him to land a superstar or two to compliment his young team.

5. What team needs to pick a direction this offseason, and what direction should they pick?
I feel like most teams have a clear direction. There are certainly some former tankers that I think would be fun to see push chips in. Bobby should decide to tank and trade me Derek Rose.

6. Excluding your team, what is the player or team storyline you're going to be watching most closely this year?
I will be keeping my eye on Kyrie very closely. As mentioned above, this team is nuts and Kyrie is a cheat code. Love Hoff but selfishly hope Kyrie does Kyrie shit this year. Last year was a sight to beheld.

7. We're 20 seasons and 2 calendar years in and we are all so grateful to have this league. If you hadn't decided to join SLN, what dumb useless hobby (e.g., community service work, getting a pet, spending more time with your family and friends) would you have chosen instead to fill your time?
I would probably take notes in class. I havent bought textbooks, notebooks, or even pens since my first semester a year ago. I just get on SLN during class and post on the boards and browse roster pages. I have not taken one note in a class in 9 months.

8. Instead of a player rating boost, come up with an idea for a 20th anniversary gift to all the GMs.
GMs can cut the salary in half of one of their players for the duration of their contract. Bonus stip: if that player's first name is Dwight, you can cut his salary to $1m/year.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
Chiefs looked good week 1, just gotta stay healthy until the playoffs. Excited that the Royals might be playing in October for the first time since our World Series run in 2015!

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Been playing Diablo 4 with Nick and that is a fun time. Black Myth Wukong looks super fun but too hard for me to enjoy so I will watch greater men on twitch slay bosses and probably read the novel the game is based off

Bonus: add a pic/gif of how you feel about your season
idk how to add gifs bc i am a boomer!

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Coolest draft in a long time, makes me sad that I love trading FRPs. Lot of league superstars will come out of this one im interested to see if some dont live up to their NBA counterparts. My hot take is that Trae is a better player than Luka.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Happy to resign Love and Beasley but trading a first to get under cap sucks but I dont have too many fucks left to give. Im interested to see if I can line up the final window of Love's and Beasley's prime with the early stages of Tyus and JB who's getting a supercamp and at least make a little noise in the west.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Just no regression from Love and Beas, I really need to see JBs overall game improve and show that he was worth going first overall. But I have a big time fear that hes going to suck like Kawhi.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks
Central: Hawks run it back
Midwest: Jazz
Pacific: Suns

5. What team needs to pick a direction this offseason, and what direction should they pick?

I want to see the warriors turn it up, its Clint's time to shine.

6. Excluding your team, what is the player or team storyline you're going to be watching most closely this year?

Already shaping up to be another year of Kyrie nonsense.

7. We're 20 seasons and 2 calendar years in and we are all so grateful to have this league. If you hadn't decided to join SLN, what dumb useless hobby (e.g., community service work, getting a pet, spending more time with your family and friends) would you have chosen instead to fill your time?

I did get a pet and so many of my best league moments have happened while taking her for a walk. Like my nuggets pick moving up to 1 overall. Winning a championship, trading for Tony Parker, drafting Melo. Shit she goes on a lot of walks.

8. Instead of a player rating boost, come up with an idea for a 20th anniversary gift to all the GMs.

RP stimulus check.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

dont make me talk about the giants.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

Rewatching West Wing, two cathedrals is the best episode of TV of all time.

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
I think everyone knows this already, but I think MPJ is gonna be really good, maybe the 3rd best player in the draft.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Felling ok. need a few backup pieces to land but we're running it back and think we're still competitive.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Need Bosh, Deron, Fernandez to hold the line, and Jrue, Drummond, and Royce O'Neale to take a step up. If that happens, I feel good.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks again - the team is so well constructed
Central: P A C E R S
Midwest: Grizz. This division is nuts.
Pacific: Suns! The champs is still the champs.

5. What team needs to pick a direction this offseason, and what direction should they pick?
the 76ers. I think it's time to trade LeBron - it's run its course.

6. Excluding your team, what is the player or team storyline you're going to be watching most closely this year?
Kyrie! What he does has a huge impact on the division and the league.

7. We're 20 seasons and 2 calendar years in and we are all so grateful to have this league. If you hadn't decided to join SLN, what dumb useless hobby (e.g., community service work, getting a pet, spending more time with your family and friends) would you have chosen instead to fill your time?
Meditation

8. Instead of a player rating boost, come up with an idea for a 20th anniversary gift to all the GMs.
Move one player to PG without the handles hit

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
NLD this weekend, that's all. Spurs is life

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.
Just watched Kill Bill for the first time, amazing. Need to work my way through all the Tarantino movies

2017-18 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

We got Luka! I originally had SGA as a clear 1 and Luka as a clear 2, but after closer consideration (and after not getting the #1 pick) I think it's actually a lot closer. Luka has the highest inside in the draft (and likely has no jumping), and has B- rebounding at PG (!). Also he's a teenager, which is a plus, and his defense is close to C+ based on the rankings. I think they're both gonna be superstars, but I think at Luka's floor his rebounding makes up for 90% of his TO / defense issues and hes an offensive monster. At his ceiling, his potential improves his handling and defense organically and he basically becomes the next version of LeBron, albeit not as OP. I'm happy with Luka!

Also was happy to get Bob Williams later on in the draft - those big butt types seem to be getting fewer and further between and his notes were perfect. Hoping a couple years in the NDL can mold him into a nice piece.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Our offseason is going to be very active! We've sent out Phi 20, Phx 20, RoCo, and some RPs, and have gotten back Jeremy Lin, Shaun Livingston, Andrew Bynum, Larry Sanders, Jason Thompson, Yawn Mahinmi, and GORGUI. Our goal is to make the playoffs while Luka redshirts, although depending on what other moves I can swing, the goal may be higher than that. I tried to get my picks back from Mantypas and we couldn't come to an agreement, and Joe laughed at me when I said I thought I could turn the roster into a playoff team this offseason. We shall see!

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

LUUUUUUUKAAAAAA

Also would love to see some progression from Brooks and White. They showed a nice foundation but, er, we had the worst record in the league with them starting. I'd like to see them get a bit more efficient on offense.

Also, Caris LaVert is gonna get the call up to the big leagues - would love to see him continue to grow, and any natural improvement for Frankie Smokes would be great. I'll also need to start saving up some RP, because the plan is going to be to supercamp Luka and I'd like to have enough RP banked to supercamp Frank as well.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Knicks. They're likely to keep improving with Embiid
Central: Hawks. KD is the most underrated player in the league right now. Need Scrony's take
Midwest: Grizzlies. I think the Jazz could have repeated, but I'm not sure how they're filling their PG hole. Apparently Shaun Livingston wasn't of much interest!
Pacific: Suns. Boban. Boban? Boban.

5. What team needs to pick a direction this offseason, and what direction should they pick?

The Celtics. come into the tank my friend

6. Excluding your team, what is the player or team storyline you're going to be watching most closely this year?

Curious about a few:

- How are the Raptors and Jazz going to replace their retired PGs?
- Does Mantypas push in some chips to build around Lavine?
- Is Weston sitting on the best draft pick assets in the league in HOU 19 and 20?

7. We're 20 seasons and 2 calendar years in and we are all so grateful to have this league. If you hadn't decided to join SLN, what dumb useless hobby (e.g., community service work, getting a pet, spending more time with your family and friends) would you have chosen instead to fill your time?

Idk, I feel like SLN doesn't take time away from other hobbies, it just takes time away from work. So I'd probably just be more successful? Maybe i'd be in shape too, that would be nice.

8. Instead of a player rating boost, come up with an idea for a 20th anniversary gift to all the GMs.

One-time 500 RP reparations for GMs who have been ripped off in trades. You propose a trade that you think you got ripped off on, a board reviews it, and if it is indeed a ripoff, the ripper-offer must give 500 RP to the rip-off-ee.

Or, SLN Chance Time. Some random number generator that decides which team in each division receives something, which team gives something, and then what the something is - either a sack of RP, the 24 FRP, or the best player on the team. CHANCE TIME!

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Not giving up on Caleb just yet, and we may have the best defense in the league. But man, that was a tough watch on Sunday.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

About to finish my rewatch of GoT. It's crazy what a disservice to humankind Benioff and Weiss did with the end of the show.

I have plenty of PTSD from real life chance time, I don’t need any in my SLN life

I actually think the reparations thing is hilarious because of the presentation a GM would have to make to prove that they were raped…it’s almost not worth the 500RP

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

IMO the top 2 and the next 2 were pretty clear cut tiers - was very sad not to get a chance at either. I hope JJJ is good, I know there's been some discussion about what the right move was at 4, but he seemed like the highest ceiling guy.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Goodish, pending a few more outstanding items. I was pretty disappointed by the draft outcome, but was happy to land THJ as a FA. Hopefully we can get a solid MLE and LLE piece as well. My short term plan is to try to make the playoffs this season since I think Lauri is ready, but we generally control our destiny and are in asset-acquisition mode.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Lauri and JJJ have some pretty clear limitations, so would like to see those improve a bit, and just general growth across the board.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: A down year for the Atlantic? Knicks should take this one easily. I'm not sure what they're going to do at PG, but it shouldn't matter a ton between Embiid and Melo.
Central: Raptors. Most complete team in the division by far right now, but watching to see how the Bulls, Hawks, and Pacers fill out their rosters.
Midwest: Grizzlies! Great core - will be curious to see if they can keep the band together the next couple of seasons, but for right now, they're a juggernaut.
Pacific: Blazers? Bet on yourself

5. What team needs to pick a direction this offseason, and what direction should they pick?

Us, hopefully up

6. Excluding your team, what is the player or team storyline you're going to be watching most closely this year?

The Pacific is full of tankers - this is kind of cheating, but hugely impactful watching to see if / when any of them decide to flip the switch.

7. We're 20 seasons and 2 calendar years in and we are all so grateful to have this league. If you hadn't decided to join SLN, what dumb useless hobby (e.g., community service work, getting a pet, spending more time with your family and friends) would you have chosen instead to fill your time?

Yelling at JWoo in the comments on his draft pieces. Not very different

8. Instead of a player rating boost, come up with an idea for a 20th anniversary gift to all the GMs.

Killing the lottery and replacing it with THE WHEEL

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

LFG Niners. CMC get healthy soon please.

10. Movies, TV, books, games, whatever recommendations.

We just finished the Bear season 2 - was good but a little annoying in the end. Looking for something else to start before the third season. Industry?
