DLO is also getting tagged if he dont resign

I don't know what nerve I pinched here lol, what grade would you give yourself for Randle on a rookie max? the Randle contract is not that dissimilar from the John Wall and Granger contracts you've inked in the past which were all negative assets at some point during the course of their deals.

Just because you're not paying for something doesn't make it free - there's opportunity cost. It didn't cost you assets, but it did cost you the ability to create max value on your team through the draft and FA. As someone who rode a #1 overall pick to 3 titles I would have thought you'd agree with me on the outsized advantage that a #1 pick gives you and how worth it is to fully bottom out. If your argument is that you're trying to be as competitive as possible because it makes the league better despite it hurting your team, hats off to you - that's very noble, but it's objectively a worse way to build a contender.

Also, all those guys are better than Randle by a lot. So if you were to, for example, tank this season, get a good pick, and sign one of those guys to a super max or a huge deal, there's at least a path for you to cash in assets for other studs while you have good players on rookie deals and put together a team with a chance at the title with two potentially transcendent guys on your roster (whoever you pick at the top of the draft and whoever you sign), plus whoever else you'd end up with via trade.

i absolutely think its a clown take sir. "max value for your team...?" dont make me laugh.

my argument is that your argument of opportunity cost is a bad one cuz the opportunity lost is tiny. were talking under 5% chance of signing any of those free agents. Youre very unlikely to secure any of those FAs matt.

my argument is that you plan to bottom out is soft. Your lack of going for anything that pushes your needle forward is soft. your team is trash and you dont have your pick sir. and those guys might be better than randle but news flash, they wont Be playing in chicago unless you pay FRPs for them. youre not gonna sign a single one of those cats unless you get EXTREMELY lucky, and even then, your gonna have a monta ellis sized contract fucking up your books. youre pitching a bunch of maybes

Also, road dirk to three titles implies i did nothing but just sit there. youve won one title and had equally as good opportunities as i have. So enjoy your three titles with Luka! dont fuck it up!

Ps where in the Bulls guide to championship contenders is having your level roster talent and no FRP... you just took on JLinn, a top 10 worst contracts in SLN so that you could mitigate your mistakes.

PSS theres opportunity cost lost by sitting on the sidelines like tankers usually do. cuz you dont get shit to trade or any way to improve.

They won't be playing in Chicago because I won't have cap space because I already made win-now moves...I tanked for two seasons and am going to have a winning team this season. You're going on like your 5th straight year of tanking? and telling me that I'm soft for not pushing my needle forward? And when did this become about my team?

I never said or implied you did nothing but just sit there for the Dirk titles - I don't believe that. I do believe that it's really fucking hard to win titles in this league without one of the best players in the league, and it's hard to acquire one of the best players in the league without bottoming out. You want to play the game on "hard" mode and never bottom out, thats fine with me, enjoy your road to mediocrity. Luka and I thank you for it.

Yeah, I made mistakes - I got hosed by Jesse for Tony Parker. There's nothing wrong with making mistakes! This is a hard game and it's like 70% determined by RNG, people make mistakes all the time. I'm not saying your team is fucked because you signed Julius Randle to a max, I gave you a B- and basically said "I wouldn't have done it if it were me". Idk how this got so escalated but trust me if I ever write an article like this again you will be getting nothing but A+'s from me cuz this shit is not worth it

Fwiw @matt I wasn’t callling you soft, per se. Just the ideology of bottoming out for a tank and employing the no bid strategy is soft. And yes I get the irony as I’m balls deep in a tank this entire summer.

@josh I was born in the sauce, molded by the Grundle. I didn’t know chill till I was a man!
