I voted 1) Jwoo, 2) Nav, 3) Nolan

To me, it was a formality for the entire season that Jwoo would win but Nav's trade for Kyrie at the deadline was a pure masterstroke so at that point I was torn 50/50. I forget what settled the difference in my eyes, but I think it was the fact that jwoo lost scottie and still has the makings of a dynasty on his roster with an elite, championship-quality team and draft picks still in the cupboard.

Nav turned a decently positioned (but not excellently positioned) team in best conference ever into a championship in the blink of an eye and absolutely deserved to win, too. Unreal!

Nolan ripped me off for Okogie and built a really nice team.

Lots of good candidates this year

I had Jwoo, Nav, Nolan in that order. Liked Jwoos Jokic trade to give himself a real shot to win it all this year while still having picks/prospects to keep getting better. Nav’s Kyrie trade was incredible and set him up to keep home court advantage which proved to be crucial in his run.

I voted 1.) JWoo 2.) Nav 3.) Nolan.

I thought JWoo’s move to get off Bookers contract for a more unique and better system fit to maximize Wemby was a stroke of genius. Isiah Jackson was a hefty price but Joker is more than worth it. The fact he was able to keep his top 5 pick in a stacked draft should unlock a dynastic run in the 6. Trey Murphy for RP was a nice snag too. I still don’t know what to make of Chuma but he seemed to be a low cost upgrade. Don’t let him fool you, I got the better of the Lonzo deal though!! (I kid, I kid)

Nav made the most impactful trade getting Kyrie at the deadline which launched NY to a title and is a more than worthy winner of the award. Congrats Nav!! GMOTY and a ship is super sick.

Nolan made some big balls moves and won the west. I think he was just finding his stride with his DC at the end of the year, once Okogie came back from injury. This roster is pretty amazing and I expect them to win more than 51 games next year.

Agree completely, I still think the award is flawed for reasons a lot of us have discussed previously, but the changes to the process overall work much better, thanks Matt and committee and congrats to Nav

I voted:
1) Nolan
2) Nav
3) JWoo

Nolan got my top spot in part because surrounding superstar talent is not as easy at it looks. In his first season with Embiid, the Rockets definitely underperformed. Nolan went back to the drawing board in his second season of Embiid and really found the perfect pieces that finally got his team rolling. That Obi for PG trade was one of my favorites from last season. I thought Nolan bought super low on a player who not too long ago was winning a championship in the bubble.

Nav and Jeremy came in second and third respectively for me. I know people dislike my thought process on this but trading for more superstars should make your team really fucking good. Now to me Jokic was really good on the Raptors but Kyrie looked like he was 28 again. Him and Turner looked seamless in the boxes post trade. Nav was also on the edge of how much further could that Knicks team go and he pushed chips in to maximize Turner, who in his own right is a top 5 SLN player. I think Jeremy has been building his new team for the past 6 months and adding Jokic a year after adding Lonzo. I think if both those trades happened concurrently then JWoo wouldve gotten first or second for me.

For public knowledge, i wrote up Merv’s candidacy.

I voted Nav first, Jwoo second, Nolan 3rd

Thought Nolan did a commendable job turning around that Rockets team into the 1 seed, but didn't feel like any of the trades were huge wins - felt like he paid appropriately for the pieces he got. Had to seriously consider Jwoo as well given the fact that the trade he did with me instantly shot his team into scary title contention status - I thought the Jokic TC decline in outside and corresponding drop in FG efficiency was correlated, but instead Jwoo swooped in and got him back into a balanced offense and saw him turn back into whatever the opposite of a pumpkin is.

Voted for Nav #1 overall though - to me, the award is about championship equity, and adding Kyrie made the Knicks the scariest team in recent memory instantly, with a 2-3 year window where I fully expect the Knicks to dominate - and he basically gave up one shitty pick to upgrade from an above average PG to the best PG in league history.
