On one hand, I don't think the change -- and certainly the TIMING of the change -- matters nearly enough to warrant all of this hullabaloo (great word). The extent of the racing to the bottom is already irrational if you actually understand the odds.

On the other, I think it is super reasonable to just wait until the 2022 season. Good compromise, especially for those who feel like any rule could disproportionately impact some teams at the expense of others. And again: I think this is much ado about nothing!

Reason against : it isn’t fair to current teams that gutted themselves for the sake of a long fruitful tank

Reason for: it isn’t fair to ashes that he spends all this time on a draft file for half the players to fall into the void cuz tankers aren’t doing anything

Again, the "reason for" is a reason to enact the rule, not a reason for why it should be enacted as soon as possible.

Again, deep tanking should be punished. Not rewarded.

i imagine nick won't be tanking in year-8 of a rebuild. i wonder how he would have responded in this thread if he was in year-1.

Fwiw this is a direct result of gutting for my summer away from SLN and the old rules.

You’re talking to the guy who said he’d be the first sacrificial lamb to eliminate gmoy extension award. I imagine id ne upset but I’d just change my plans. I have no problem being the one to get fucked if it’s for the betterment of all.

Also fwiw I’ve been in the 4-9 odds my entire tank. I haven’t once reaped the benefits of the old systems lotto odds. In fact in hindsight, I imagine I’d have been better off in the new system this whole time.

Kinda funny you guys don’t value hearing the opinion of a fellow tanker just cuz I’ve been tanking for 7 years haha. Would you value my opinion more if I just started? Or do I need to be an 06 member for my voice to hold weight here?

i don't think it matters much when it's implemented. i think the rule change has a small-to-no impact on long term decisions (when to tank) and a bigger impact on short-term decisions around the tank (waiting to trade a useful player for RP vs. selling now for free)

What you are saying is just rich. After you incessantly tanked for 5 seasons and are on the verge of transitioning out of a tank, you are arguing that we need to speed up a rule change that would penalize GMs - without enough notice- from doing EXACTLY what you just did.

I’m not the only GM who feels this. I’m just the only one who doesn’t mind pissing people off and having people not like me because I can be abrasive and brazen on the boards.

And mind telling me How the fuck am I transitioning out of the tank? My teams literally dreadful. I got Julius Randle and got WORSE. My team is on pace to be just as bad as these other teams ive had and in fact every pick I’ve made until Brunson has been a miss. So it might seem like I should be better after all these tanks, but newsflash, unless I spend draft capital and start slinging a bunch of guys around to end up in a tank in a few years from now, I’m going to be tanking for many more years cuz I suck

Im playing the game the way the rules have set it out. You tank the worst and you can get the highest chance of getting a title contending piece. Youre hating the player. You should hate the game rules instead, cuz I certainly do.
