2012 Mock Draft: Boring Content sorry

Post by Clinton »

Here is my first go at the 2012 Draft, not the best but I wonder if there are some hidden gems in here

Draft File: draft/draftplayers-pot.htm
Draft Notes: viewtopic.php?t=605

1.New Jersey Nets – (7-40)
Other 2012 FRP(s): DEN, SEA, POR
Needs: Wings, Frontcourt
The Pick: Anthony “The Brow” Davis – PF/C – Kentucky
Analysis: Perennial sadness in the Swamp when Ashes gets on stage and tells Amelia to pick the frozen envelope instead of the first one she touches. Maybe this is the year the Swamp Dragon ends up inside the freezer burnt envelope. The Swamp would start to heat up fast, pairing Robin Lopez and The Brow would be a match made in heaven. That Kemba guy is pretty good, but we all know that Lopez is that dude in NJ. He gets his running mate and pushes Favors to the backup 4/5. Davis jerseys have reportedly already been on shelves in the swAmp Store since mid-November(returns not possible).
*writing this as im watching the LAL-LAC game and AD steals the ball and gets an and-1 layup…hmmm

2.Indiana Pacers – (10-46)
Other 2012 FRP(s): WAS, VAN
Needs: Frontcourt, PG
The Pick: Damian Lillard – PG – Weber State
Analysis: Tonger getting Dame, exactly one year after getting Jimmy Buckets, would be one of if not the best starts to a new GMs tenure this writer has ever seen. Simple and easy.

3.San Antonio Spurs – (9-40)
Other 2012 FRP(s): LAC
Needs: Everything except SF
The Pick: Bradley Beal – SG – Florida
Analysis: The Melo era is gone, the Klaw era has begun. Adding Beal, and his scoring prowess, could be a legitimate 1-2 punch for a future playoff contender. Does Beal turn the ball over? Yes. But does he also put the ball in the basket at a high clip? Yes. From having Monta and scouting his handles pre-draft, I truly believe handles for a SG are salvageable. I did give him +10 handles during his SC but Beal is one year younger and most likely a better shooter coming into the draft than Monta was. Regardless, things are looking up in San Antonio.

4.Miami Heat – (13-31)
Other 2012 FRP(s): MINN, LAL, DAL
Needs: Frontcourt, SF
The Pick: Draymond Green – PF – Michigan State
Analysis: I haven’t checked Miami’s DCs but just from looking at their roster there is an emphasis on speed and athleticism. Enter Draymond Green…and subsequently Harrison Barnes. IDK why but when I look at this team, all I envision is small ball basketball where everyone is too fast for the man guarding him and everyone can switch on defense. If I could id give Scoops pick 6 and toss him Middleton too. A starting lineup of Wall-Klay-Middleton-Barnes-Green would be hilarious to see. Probs wouldn’t work in SLN but fuggit.

5.Miami Heat via Minnesota Timberwolves – (15-34)
Other 2012 FRP(s): LAL, DAL, MIA
Needs: Frontcourt, SF
The Pick: Harrison Barnes – SF – UNC
Analysis: I was unsure with these two picks in general. Drummond’s rebounding are def STOOPID awesome but will the sheer size of his butt get in the way in Miami? Maybe im overthinking it and maybe Greenie will trade these picks to make me look like a dumbass again, who knows.

6.Boston Celtics – (15-33)
Other 2012 FRP(s): CLE, GSW
Needs: Wings, Guards, PF?
The Pick: Andre Drummond – C – Uconn
Analysis: Lopez, DJ, Hibbert…where would Drummond go in the 2008 SLN Draft? Does Joe need another center? How OP is Drummond’s rebounding? I have questions. I think when you have a top 6 pick, you want an asset and Drummond is that. Butts and buckets, no team in the league ever has enough. Draft the dude whose real life numbers are stupid in regards to how amazing his rebounding really is. Make trades later. Added bonus, SLN is made for players that got washed out by frontcourt players who could shoot threes. HOARD THE BIGS SO YOU CAN SET THE MARKET JOE.

7.San Antonio via Los Angeles Clippers – (15-25)
Other 2012 FRP(s): SAS
Needs: Everything except SF
The Pick: Khris Middleton – SF/SG – Texas A&M
Analysis: Soooooo, is it smart to draft Middleton and Beal based on all the camps tossed into the 2/3 position? Probs not, but I think Jordo is in a position to give both a good amount of burn and find out which one works best if he wants to use one to upgrade elsewhere. Beal might be better suited as a backup CG, who knows. This draft is nice, in that you can take a profile guy and not be too worried.

8.Toronto Raptors – (20-30)
Other 2012 FRP(s): HOU
Needs: BPA
The Pick: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist – SF/PF – Kentucky
Analysis: I have never read into what doomed MKG as a pro besides that busted shooting stroke. Its like his one year at Kentucky happened and then his career was over. He was even my favorite player on that natty team. Dude played ridiculous defense and would slash to the room with ferocity and quickness. Im worried he fails in SLN just because his shot was so broken IRL but, he is a profile guy that can hopefully be 100% better in SLN than real life. JWoo loves his defense and me thinks MKG could be legit in Toronto. To me that “cannot go to NDL” is massive for him that he is really good. Last profile guy with the No NDL tag…take him.

9.Miami Heat via Los Angeles Lakers – (21-31)
Other 2012 FRP(s): MINN, DAL, MIA
Needs: At this point? BPA
The Pick: Jae Crowder – SF – Marquette
Analysis: At this point, im just looking at this team and wondering “how much more small ball can we get?” I could only imagine how toxic that “Heat Culture” would be with Wall, Green, and Crowder in the same locker room. This team wouldn’t back down to anyone in the world. They probably wouldn’t win a lot but its for sure a 10/10 on last years FUN SCALE.

10.Sacramento Kings – (19-27)
Other 2012 FRP(s): CHA
Needs: SF, C, Depth
The Pick: Thomas Robinson – PF/C - Kansas
Analysis: Uhm I know everyone here remembers that T-Rob was a fucking problem during his Kansas career. Known as the third morris twin, does his redemption story begin in the same place his nightmare started? I sure hope so. Jesse drafting Kings players from real life and making a contender out of them is what I love to see. I know IT and Boban are the future in SAC but adding T-Rob to the mix wouldn’t hurt backing up Ryan Anderson.

11.Atlanta Hawks – (19-25)
Other 2012 FRP(s): N/A
Needs: Not many
The Pick: Dion Waiters – SG – Syracuse
Analysis: Split here b/w Waiters and Ross but I think Waiters can work. The Hawks love a player that can finish inside *pause…. On this team he can be camped and come into his own as a microwave scorer off the bench with his inside already being decent. Good upside and No NDL with a year behind the other guards on this team would be good. This team is REALLLY close so someone who is more SLN ready is probably best but yea.

12.Boston via Golden State Warriors – (22-28)
Other 2012 FRP(s): CLE, BOS
Needs: Wings, Guards, PF?
The Pick: Terrance Ross – SG - Washington
Analysis: Ross is one of my guys. Met him at Montrose Christian basketball camp growing up and was a dude that could catch fire at a moments notice playing in the NBA. Always torched the Wizards as well. To me he projects as a backup 2/3 that “can score”. Maybe there are better options here but with only shooting camps I know this guy will be good for a team.

13.Detroit Pistons – (25-26)
Other 2012 FRP(s): N/A
Needs: Depth
The Pick: Meyer’s Leonard – C – Illinois
Just Kidding…
The Pick: Kent Bazemore – SG – ODU
Analysis: Thought I gave Kyrie a friend for a second but I decided that RB didn’t need more juju. Bazemore reads like a future top-tier defensive guard. Pick a dude you want to shutdown for a series or during an important sim and play Bazemore against him. I know Jwoo won by using Tony Allen as a chess piece. Im not sure Bazemore is on the same level but his notes are crazy for defense.

Clints Other Favorites:

Tomas Satoransky: Wall gets injured and all Mantypas and I think is, Sato will make the Wizards better lol. But forreal him starting as a SG is absurd to me and I think turns him into a long-term viable starter at the 1 and at the very least a wanted commodity. Sato is going to get the recognition he deserved in real life in SLN.

Tony Wroten: Everything I wrote about Bazemore is doubled for Wroten. Just toss him a +8 Handles camp and let him marinate in the NDL. After a few years watch him wreak havoc on backup PGs everywhere.

Mo Harkless(queue Heartless by Kanye West): 2k legend right here. The man could just whop as a stretch 4 in that game and will always be remembered for it. Wasn’t a halfbad 3/D guy in the league for a little while.

Royce White: WE ALL REMEMBER ROYCE WHITE. Dude was the reason I first knew about Iowa State and truly believed he was going to be a force in the NBA. Your team is only allowed to take buses and trains everywhere but Royce is going to be a problem. Just seems like SLN is the place he can shine.

FESTUS Ezeli: Warriors don’t win shit IRL without Festus. Yea, I said it. He has got a donk though, and in a league with less and less phatties, Festus is gonna be a dude.

Miles Plumlee: Did I hate him for a while? Sure but Plumlee has always been a dude that scraps for a W. I truly feel bad for all the shitty teams he has been on and I think he will be a decent 3/4 bigman for a team that will be in the SLN for a long time.

Mike James: If you don’t know who Mike James is, go to his international basketball ref page. Its ridiculous what he has done overseas since college and me thinks Ashes will give him his due in SLN.

Jonathan Simmons: Was a solid 3/D SG for some decent teams early on, faded fast but I know he had some games for the Spurs and Magic where the NBA took notice for a little bit.

Will Barton: Should really be first on this list because the things he did on the Nuggets was so much fun to watch. Him and Monte Morris off the bench was A-Tier if Trezz/Lou/Pat Bev was S-Tier.
8-) Santa Cruz Warriors NDL Champs: 8-)
