FAILED - Proposal for SLN Job Term Limits
I know a lot of people have wanted jobs and due to the US congress-like no term limits, there has been almost no turn over since inception. I propose we enact term limits on the following SLN jobs: Reward Camp History Tracker, League Historians, Content Graders, Draft Moderators, Extension & MLE Trackers, and RFA trackers.
I think the RP treasurer via jesse should remain his (assuming everyone agrees) due to the complexity and importance of the role. I also think Weston is the fucking goat at Pick ems and hes earned the right to decide to step down due to his incredible efforts in this. Perhaps we add a rotating second pickem job that helps weston and is subject to term limits.
My proposal:
- Every SLN job listed above is now subject to a 5 SLN season term limit. The term limits will start after this proposal is enacted, but if a GM who has been in their role a long time steps down immediately (or before the 5 season term limit is up), they will instantly receive 50% of their RP salary for being a cool cat.
- Every GM will be randomly assigned a job and they must fulfill the job for at least one season before they step down. If a GM is way too busy with life to take a job for at least one season, they can contribute half the RP yearly salary for the job to the SLN title champions purse and the next GM in line will get the seat. (i personally like this cuz it forces everyone to participate more in SLN but gives them an out if life is too much atm)
- we will create a running list of GMs (like fantasy football waivers) that will decide who is next up when a job opens.
- We will add an additional pickem lord that is subject to term limits, though Weston is not subject to term limits unless he choses to. Jesse can also address if he would prefer to maintain his treasurer role to ensure the purity of RP balances.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As an added note, I will be adding an additional Historian regardless of if this passes. The historian job originally was a three man job (grantfromcal, jayant, and myself) and we only replaced Jayant. Due to the seasonal work load, Mant-Man and I have agreed that we need a third historian in the office. I already have two applicants who have reached out.
If this proposal passes, i will be the first to step down and will do so immediately so that the two GMs who reached out to be historians can immediately have a job. i will not receive the RP step down bonus as to not appear to be a swindler.
would love to hear the feedback and concerns. i think this is a good idea cuz there will be so much turn over that many GMs will seldomly go without a job.

As much as I love draft moding, I agree that there should be turnover. This will also increase engagement throughout seasons.

Voted no because paying RP if you are too busy for a job (which some require lots of time that I’m not sure is quite appreciated by the unemployed) you didnt want or apply for doesn’t make any sense to me
But there should only be turnover if the replacement is willing to put in the time and effort that some of these jobs requireHoff wrote: February 5th, 2025, 9:06 am As much as I love draft moding, I agree that there should be turnover. This will also increase engagement throughout seasons.

my thinking was just aiming to incentivize more league participation by some extremely loose conscription esc job mandating. I didn't think 250-300rp every like 5 seasons was too punitive of a fee to skip a role if you did not want a job. Especially considering that the minimum you would have to do a role would be one season then you can go back to the bottom of the list.
Thanks TP!
I voted yes but agree with Tyler - should only include GMs in the employment pool that want to be and are prepared to put the time in. So I’d change the random assignment piece, but otherwise love the idea and personally want to get involved in some way if I can.
Voted no - I just think that at this point there's a decent amount of learned knowledge / process for how these jobs operate and would prefer to not shake that up. Also don't really agree that all the jobs mentioned should be thought of in the same breath - imo there's a huge difference between the RFA tracker and content grader roles, e.g., and don't think they should be governed by the same process.
I also am not sure what problem this is aiming to solve - in my mind there are two possibilities: 1. people who don't have jobs are at an RP disadvantage and 2. the people in the jobs aren't doing a satisfactory job. If it's #1, I get it, it's unfair, and maybe there are ways to help out (could decrease the RP bonuses for jobs - I bet everyone would still do the job and if they didn't I'm sure people would step up and do the job. If it's #2 (which is kind of my suspicion given that two specific jobs were excluded from the list), I disagree that anyone in those jobs are doing a bad job and need to be replaced. Maybe i just have my conspiracy theory hat / have recency bias based on what's been said on the boards recently but this seems like an elaborate way to fire the content graders and I don't think they deserve to be fired.

i agree with the no’s. i vote no. maybe assistants are a better way to get more people involved while learning how it’s been done for 2.5 years ? if someone is busy the assistant steps up and gets full credit for duties
with that said i’d like to become a full-time historian !!
