Redrafting 2005 SLN Lottery Draft

One of the best under-the-radar drafts that weve seen. A ton of subjectivity and sleepers developed into real deal players in the league. Lets take a look at this bizzarro world redraft:

1. Original Pick – Washington Bullets Select Chris Paul (PG) – I think, blessed with the gift of hindsight, Weston will make a dramatically different move here. In what was perceived as a one trick pony of a draft, with only 1 title worthy star, Weston abandons his glorious burden, sinks the banana boat, and trades back with the Jazz, who have not been blessed with hindsight and jump whole heartedly on the CP3 grenade. (BUURRR BURR BRAMBLE BRAMBLE BURRRR *Trade noises continue here*) Washington figures its his time to be the pokemaster.

Washington trades 1.01 and a Future Washington First
Jazz trades 1.03, 1.05, 1.20, 1.24

1. New Pick – Jazz select Chris Paul! This guys name weight is still probably enough to justify the First selection here, despite the development that might indicate he should slide back a slot or two. Hes still the clear favorite.

2. Original Pick – New York Knicks overpay for Deron Williams (PG) – Nav sent MVP Livingston and like 7 firsts for this pick and it was a gutsy move. Didn’t work out for him. Since hindsight is at play where I conveniently want it to, Nav does NOT yolo in this universe. Instead, he cracks open a Grape Olipop and realizes theres much bigger fish to bite the Bullet on.

2. New Pick – 76ers select Monta Ellis (SG) – pairing this soon to be two way superstar with lebron is too good to be true. I have to imagine that monta doesn’t leave as he just has those “home town” vibes to him. Monta and Lebron will win 3 titles together. I don’t take Lou over Monta here because for some reason, DMo got it into his head that Lou would upstage him and LeBron on the Karaoki stage. I tried to explain that Lou’s flexibility to PG gives him so much more lineup flexibility, but alas, he just kept screaming “Cant stop wont stop”

3. Original Pick – Jazz select Andrew Bogut – Jazz took this guy as a fundamental piece to pair with his Pokemon, but this pick doesn’t belong to him in this universe. He got Chrisp Paul instead.

3. New Pick - (BUURRR BURR BRAMBLE BRAMBLE BURRRR GYAT GYAT GYAT GOTTTEEMMMM *Trade noises continue here*) Bullets defies all logic here and continues to be a trading savant.

Washington Trades 1.03
Knicks Trade – 1.08, 1.13, and 3 futures
Knicks select – Lou Williams – Out of the depths of that Olipop spurned an Idea. An Idea that Lou Williams was going to become the best 25ppg scorer in league history on amazing splits and a masterful sTOck ratio. Lou could have easily gone #2 over Monta, but I feel like its pretty comparable if you ignore Lous awesome stip. Nav gets his superstar PG and Washington is already in position to draft 100 pokemon.

4. Original Pick – Warriors select Monta Ellis (SG) – Loved this pick and as his time has not come to an end in GSW, its fitting that he doesn’t get him in the redraft.

4. New Pick – Warriors Select Deron Williams – Still on the board, a high upside guard is just what the Warriors were looking for and Williams carried a lot of potential. Couldve seen them bring home Bogut or Danny G as well, but it seems for now, Deron is a warrior.

5. Original Pick – Utah Jazz select Marvin Williams (SF) – The beginning of the Pokemon era in Utah was never meant to be in this universe.

5. New pick – Washington Bullets select Marvin Williams (SF) – Wes became possessed with the idea of the pokemon after binging the entire original series. He takes 1.01 and his protected next years pick and turns it into 1.05, 1.08, 1.13, 1.20, 1.24 and 3 futures. That’s a haul enough to build around the pokemon gym with ammo to spare.

6. Original Pick – Portland selects Lou Williams (SG/PG) – a great value pick in hindsight, arguably the best player in this draft class falling to 1.06 is a MAJOR steal. His A+ OS and supreme sTOcks are hard to overlook.

6. New Pick – Portland Selects Danny Granger – Portland still gets a great wing candidate here. Pretty much Brandon Roy with good knees. Im sure Portland would do the same trades all over again if he got the core of Jameer and Dwight.

7. Original Pick – Magic select Danny Granger – a sad day for the Magic as they never got this dawg and his subsequent trade to the Knicks for a haul. But Mervgic still has some precognitive Mervgic up his sleeve.

7. New Pick – Magic select Andrew Bogut – Merv loves this guy! That was easy. He was over hyped on draft day imo, but at 1.07 and with how he looks now, AB is a nice rump with a bright future in Orlando.

8. Original Pick – Knicks select Martell Webster – LOL who IS this guy? One of a couple lotto draftees lost to time. He literally is gone and his player code overwritten. I can onlyh assume DMo let this man fade to the NDL shadow realm. ARTICLE IDEA, the highest draft picks lost to time and irrelevancy. 1.08 in 2005 looking mighty firm!

8. New Pick – Bullets Select – Rashad Mccants – Besides Lou, McCants is the undisputed value pick of the draft. Where grundle over paid on Felton, he got insane backend value on McCants, who would eventually develop into a SUPREME wing in Chicago. One of the many over achievers in this draft class I would love on my team.

9. Original Pick – Pistons select – Andrew Bynum – Guy kinda never got the hang of the SLN. Perhaps his an Oberto, who will come on strong in the second half of his career, but for now, be gone lesser AB! Buy low guy!

9. New Pick – Pistons Select – Marcin Gortat – pistons still select a big in this revisionists history and end up with Gorswat, who is looking mighty fine over there in Phoenix, who knows where he would be given RBs trade flurry, but hed still be a quality big on any team.

10. Original Pick – Bullets select – Amir Johnson – He developed ok? Kinda low Rebounds for a A-. Pretty much a repeat of my Bynum comments. Prime for an Oberto end of career surge. Buy low guy!

10. New Pick – Bullets Select – Raymond Felton – Originally taken at 1.12, I did not like when Felton was taken in the draft at the time, and hes done little to change my mind since (sorry Sauce man, play Helldivers with me still pls) this is exactly why Weston will take him 2 picks earlier!! If I did this draft in a talent vacuum, Felton slides, but I was tired of negotiating for draft day trades with myself so Weston reaches here to enhance his Pokedeck.

11. Original Pick – Magic select – David Lee – a very solid pick in hindsight, easily could take David lee again here.

11. New Pick – Magic select – Ersan Ilyasova - . I just think Ersan and Yi are both fun odd wing guys that can do a lot, but I think they would be a lot of fun in Mervgics hands. Ersan developed a bit latter but hes looking nice on the Bucks. Yi and Ilyasova would be a fun bench.

12. Original Pick – Nets Select Raymond Felton – eventually traded to the jazz to complete his pokedex, Nets instead pivot to take

12. New Pick – Nets Select – David Lee – Lee having a solid growth to his career and assuming he follows in Obertos footsteps, hell continue to surge the Thiccness charts. I’d watch him on Peacock, that’s for sure.

13. Original Pick – Knicks select – Kelenna Azuibuke – very solid depth guy and a good value in the middle of the draft. No hate here for DookieBuke

13. New Pick – Bullets select CJ Miles – But allas, the bullets balled out here and are looking for as much upside as possible, and CJ Miles is turning into a very solid piece. Hed do well next to the pokemon.

14. Original Pick – Nets Select – CJ Miles – with Miles gone, Nets gotta dig deep in the Scouting reports for a new option.

14. New Pick – Nets Select – Vonilla Wafer – what emerges was VERY unexpected. A no name dude named vanilla wafer emerges. Does he become what he is without the NDL? Im not sure. I didn’t even check if he went down under in the first place.

15. Original Pick - Cavaliers select Marcin Gortat - great value pick here. Let’s trade back cuz Gortat gone and picking up futures from the 1.15 spot is a win.

15. New Pick – Bullets trade 1.20/1.24/ 1 future for pick 1.15 , BULLETS SELECT SEAN MAY – THE POKEDEX IS COMPLETE, SEAN MAY IS ASS. HE NEEDS THE OBERTO JUICE. But getting that stip juice will create a supreme Marvin Williams and a Supreme Rashard McCants .
Bullets got: Marvin Williams, Rashard Mccants, Raymond Felton, CJ Miles, Sean May, and two futures instead of Chris Paul and Amir Johnson. A good case study for the value of the 1.01 in a top heavy draft like this year. DO you take a big name like Giannis who will most definelty but good but not guarantee hell be great in the SLN as a bad shooter at best? Or do you leverage his insane value during the draft and acquire a ton of capital in this and future drafts?

Monta at SG next to Point Gawd Lebron is just what the doctor ordered.

Being the advocate he is for tall PGs, yea, lets get Kipke to trade Monta to Philly for fun sake

Question: Is Deron a PG or SG? I need a ranking of him at each one
