Activity/State of the League
Personally, I have felt my team has been in neutral all year and not paying as much attention because of it. I should’ve been more active on the trade front to do something about it have also felt the trade activity has been done dramatically as well. I think value has been suppressed and more teams are stuck in neutral and less drastic decision making (win now and tanking). Maybe a trade frenzy this offseason?

let's brainstorm reward-wise
1000rp for 50 posts a season seems NUTS to me and I don't think even half the league has hit that threshold
what do you want to see content-wise

Will post a more comprehensive thought in the morning but I’m my thoughts are aligned with Hoff’s. glad we are talking about it and think it’s super fixable

I practice safe tanking and don’t normally meme when I tank but I’ll step it up.
I think upping the baseline RP value criteria for content will help.
I also know it’s super specific and sorry Ashes to beat that drum but kind of agree with Nick, that recent posts view on the old site that showed every new post regardless of thread in chronological order was definitely an easier way to engage than clicking into each thread.

Thanks for proactively starting this topic, ashes. A number of us have chatted separately on this and were going to make a similar post … and it’s better coming from you! I think it’s some combination of:
1. Everyone seems to generally be busy with work. I have certainly felt this myself. I haven’t had time to do any content.
2. The new site, while it has many excellent features, is new and I think has taken some time for everyone to navigate and figure out exactly how to engage
3. I think activity feeds off itself, so content and posts will go up organically as more and more people get back into things
I like having periodic trade / content frenzies because they are fun/crazy/add life to the league, but I don’t think we should increase points for content writ-large. The RP/content system was the same when we were getting 80 articles a season to what it is now. In a scarcer RP environment, the RPs generated from articles should actually be even more valuable than they were 4-5 seasons ago….so I think people maybe aren’t totally internalizing the impact content would have!

Posts were changed to 400 RPs for 80 posts (5 per post for a maximum of 80 per season) about 7-8 seasons ago.
On the old boards, 95% of GMs would hit that easily each season. It seems like posts are down quite a bit. Not sure what would help here. It should be the easiest 400 RP everyone earns each season.

Personally my team has felt very stuck and I had limited money/paralysis by analysis to be able to wheel and deal freely which has sort of made it really difficult to trade...
however as for the offseason, we've sped up the pace of the regular season with the 10 game sims (which I personally love) but it has made the offseason feel quite a bit longer compared to the shortened regular season (maybe this is just my perception and not reality). I think each offseason Ashes has done a good job of communicating his planned simming timeline for FA, TC, preseason, opening day... and yet we are still tracking down last minute bids, DCs, the draft seemingly gets slower every year, etc. and we could implement firm deadlines to get your shit in each offseason and if you don't then Ashes can proceed without you. The whole point of adding 24 hour freezes after the postseason before the draft and after the draft before FA was to ensure people had time to review things and get shit submitted, but I don't think the freezes have done anything to improve the workflow and just slow the offseason down even more.
I know life gets busy but I am in favor of a "you snooze you lose" policy so ashes can sim when he has the time as opposed to making accomodations to track down a few stragglers.
TLDR; faster offseason, more box scores, happier GMs!

This is good timing - your resident content graders were just talking yesterday about a new content bonus strategy. We will be deploying one in short order.ashes wrote: April 6th, 2024, 7:27 pm let's brainstorm reward-wise

As for my personal involvement, I’ve had an insane couple months at work and was/am also in the process of moving apartments so my life has been a mess and I def have not been on the boards as much as I usually am - seems like it’s just been a weird super busy personal time for a bunch of folks simultaneously coincidentally. I will be much more engaged this coming season and def the season after
