Simming the 2013 SLN Finals on NBA 2K
I thought it would be fun to sim the 2013 SLN Finals on 2K and see if the 76ers would come out on top this time. When I first set out to do this, the thought was that I'd do the entire playoffs, but it just takes surprisingly long. This is a super imperfect comparison, but I tried my best to make each player's rating align with the type of player he is in SLN, i.e., Shaun Livingston and Willie Green are much better SLN players than they're rated in 2K so I went in a boosted them a bit in the areas that seemed to make sense.
Also, I tried to make ratings align with each players' over the hood SLN ratings, i.e., if a guy has an A- Reb rating in SLN, I set off reb and def reb in the game to 92. My archetype and tendencies for each player were left unchanged and I just took what 2K provided for that player. Also, I couldn't find Julian Wright in the game, so I molded TJ Warren into what I thought Julian Wright's ratings would be lol.
My plan was to only play the starters on both teams. Unfortunately, turning off fatigue and turning foul frequency all the way down didn't work how I thought it would so sadly, random fill guys on both teams ended up getting some bench minutes.
Starters were determined by the last DC the Rockets and 76ers posted in the regular season. Not sure what you guys ran in the playoffs.
And now, your starting lineups!
HOUSTON ROCKETS
C: Eddy Curry - 94 Overall
PF: Tracy McGrady - 94 Overall
SF: Blake Griffin - 89 Overall
SG: Julian Wright - 80 Overall
PG: Shaun Livingston - 92 Overall
PHILADEPHIA 76ERS
C: Jermaine O'Neal - 86 Overall
PF: Carlos Boozer - 85 Overall
SF: Paul Millsap - 86 Overall
SG: Willie Green - 84 Overall
PG: LeBron James - 99 Overall
Game 1: Sixers 127 - Rockets 97

Game 2: Rockets 120 - Sixers 101

Game 3: Sixers 120 - Rockets 112

Game 4: Rockets 126 - Sixers 120

Game 5: Rockets 109 - Sixers 95

Game 6: Rockets 146 - Sixers 136 (OT)

Again, the Rockets get it done in 6!! Congrats for your chip in this universe, too, Nolan.
To go back to the problem about random bench players getting minutes: I jumped in to watch game 6 because I saw it was tied with a minute left. Mike Miller, who shouldn't even have been out there in the first place, hit a buzzer beater 3 for the Rockets to send it into OT. That solidified this whole experiment being pretty stupid. But hope someone enjoyed it.
