A NEW DAY IN INDIANA
From the desk of Larry Bird, General Manager, and Tonger, President of Basketball Operations.
After an extended run with franchise legends Kobe Bryant and Troy Hudson, the Indiana Pacers have entered a new era led by Jimmy Butler and Chris Bosh.
“Pacers DNA is winning,” says Bird. “The last five years have not been representative of our standards. This is a proud franchise with a proud history, and we believe we have the foundation for renewed success in this league.”
Franchise player Jimmy Butler added: “The last couple years have been tough. I’m not used to losing. I’ll be honest - Shelvin and I have spent a lot more time building our coffee business than studying film. Check out our new location in downtown Springfield. But I’m excited to compete this year and win. As my good friend KD said - I don’t think I’m better than anyone, but I certainly don’t think anyone’s better than me. I’m excited to prove that on the court.”
Chris Bosh: “I’m grateful for my time with the Knicks and everything the Knicks franchise and Mr. Nav did for me. I’ll miss my teammates. But I grew up watching Reggie Miller go to battle with the Knicks. I modeled my passing game growing up after Detlef Shrempf, my post game after Jermaine O’Neal, and my hair game after Dale Davis. Indiana is the right place for me, and we’re going to compete for championships.”
As the team enters preseason, we ask for Pacer Nation’s continued support. Basketball is in the Hoosier State’s heritage, and we will do everything possible to bring a Championship to Indiana.
Lastly, the Franchise is aware of the ongoing trade rumors with new Pacer Lamar Odom, and we have no comment at this time. Consistent with team policy, player movement and operations are confidential. Lamar has been recalled from his home in Calabasas and will continue to report to the team as normal until further notice.
Further questions can be directed to the Pacers’ media department.
