Kings Fire Coach, Hire Rick Adelman

The Sacramento Kings announced today that they have fired Head Coach, Garry St. Jean.

"We have made the decision to part ways with Mr St. Jean," Kings Owner Jesse Vivek-Maloof said. "While we thank Gary for his service, the start to this season has been unacceptable. We are not a .500 team. Our team may be old, but we cannot be stuck in the past. We need to run. We need to shoot threes. That is why we are bringing in 'ol Dick Adelman."

This news does not come as a surprise after St. Jean and Kings star Charles Barkley got involved in a public tiff on Tuesday. Barkley was seen taking a private plane to Vegas, reportedly gambling his first two pay stubs on greyhound racing. St. Jean benched Barkley and has shortened his minutes throughout the start of the season.

Vivek-Maloof swiftly came to Barkley's defense.

"We need to let Charles be Charles. That's who he is. He needs to be loose, play free. He loves the finer things in life. We need to let our players be themselves," Vivek-Maloof said.

Sacramento had the 3rd best odds to win the championship after the Creation draft and an 18-6 preseason, but the team has stumbled out of the gate, losing four games by 5 or fewer points. The team has collapsed in multiple fourth quarters, where the team's offense has slowed to a snail's pace.

Adelman is known to be an innovator, who isn’t opposed to running – even with a team centered around frontcourt players – and shooting threes.

Vivek-Maloof has come under fire for his roster building in recent days. As the most experienced executive in this new league, expectations were high. Though he has publicly said – and even advised other allies – that the best way to build a team is by finding elite Guards and Wings in a league scarce in perimeter talent, he has done the exact opposite.

Skepticism lingers about Sacramento’s decision to pivot to a fast, outside offense. The team’s 3 best players play in the post. What are the Kings doing?

“Trust me,” Mr. Maloof said. “Our big boys will eat regardless. We need to get our Alien Point Guard and our Guards into the mix.”

This has been a decision apparently aided by some of the best and brightest in the basketball world.

“We did a study. And the study was a great study. A tremendous, tremendous study.” Maloof added. “Our research actually showed that threes are worth more than twos.”
