2019 Draft Rankings / Quick Mock

Post by Clinton »

Here we are again, no its not JWoo or Joe, its Clint w/ another bullshit, ill-informed draft article. At least its better than my ADHD ass moving around too much on a podcast to where it sounds like im whispering random shit.

Saddened by my loss to the Suns (and ruining any shot of introducing Tyler to his future wife), i realized im still RP broke. Id link my onlyfans but i have not found a way to set up RP as a form of payment yet. PLEASE CLINT STOP W THE SHITTY JOKES.

Onto the article. Ill rank the top 5 inside, outside, FUCK DEM HANDLES, defense, and rebounding. Rank my top 5 NDL guys. Then give a fair mock because i dont have a first rounder. Ill leave all my analysis for each player for the mock part.

*DO NOT USE THIS AS INFORMATION TO MAKE YOUR PICK. YOU HAVE A BRAIN MAKE THE PICK YOU BELIEVE IN*

TOP 5 INSIDE SCORERS:
1. Zion Williamson - Power Forward 6'6''284 20; A C- C C C A
2. Eric Paschall - Power Forward 6'6'' 255 23; B+ C+ D+ C C C
3. Bruno Fernando - Center 6'9'' 240 21; B C- D C B C
4. RJ Barrett - Shooting Guard 6'6'' 214 19; B B- C D C A
5. Cameron Johnson - Power Forward 6'8" 210 23; B B C- C C B
Next best 5(all w/ B-): Hachimura, Nasty Naz, B. Clarke, PJ Wash, Jaxon H.

Analysis: A scary(bad way?) looking top 5 inside ranking. Im all for Zion being gifted the keys to a franchise and it running inside, but i guarantee no one has the balls to do so. Paschall has a premier package in the post that shouldnt be too skewed by athletic traits beyond strength. Eh dude was lowkey quick AF IRL. Decent JS w/ that inside seems like a positive. Ill talk Bruno later. Barrett looks tank commanderish w/ that inside. Cam Johnson is going to be FILTHY but not NDL eligible.

TOP 5 OUTSIDE SCORERS:
1. Tyler Herro - Shooting Guard 6'5" 195 20; B- B+ C C- C B
2. Deividas Sirvydis - Shooting Guard 6'8" 190 19; C B C- C- C A
3. Cameron Johnson - Power Forward 6'8" 210 23; B B C- C C B
4. Luguentz Dort - Shooting Guard? 6'3" 215 20; C B C B C B
5. Garrison Matthews - Shooting Guard 6'5" 215 23; C+ B C- C C- C
Next Best 5: JWF, T-Mann, Windy Windler, TDavis, STRUS.

Analysis: In total there are 13 players w/ B or above outside shooting in this draft. SLN is getting a pure shot of OUTSIDE to its system this year. Not sure its all good but who knows. Herro got cucked by Calipari at Kentucky but he should be a nice bench scorer in SLN. Siryvidas having A pot w/ 2nd highest outside seems enticing. IRL he just won 2024 EuroCup MVP, which is basically the equivalent to the Europa league(European 2nd tier Champions League). CAM JOHNSON IS THIRD?!? Dude is gonna be a bucket. Lu Dortz guaranteed to be a top 5 player from this class. Matthews got a lot of burn on the Wizards and the Rockets IRL, he will probably get washed away in SLN sadly.

TOP 5 FUCK DEM HANDLES:
1. Tacko Fall - Center 7'6" 311 24; D+ D+ F B C C
2. Sekou Doumbouya - Power Forward 6'8" 230 19; C C D- C+ C B
3. Dewan Hernandez - Center 6'10" 235 23; C C- D- C+ C C
4. Bol Bol - Power Forward 7'3" 220 20; C B- D- C+ C+ A
5. Mfiondu Kabengele - Power Forward 6'9" 250 22; C+ B- D B- C C
6. Matisse Thybulle - Shooting Guard 6'5" 201 22; C C D B+ C- B

Analysis: Jesse's top two players in this draft dont give a fuck about turnovers or passing. I think Tacko as per notes is BAD at handles. Maybe his turnovers can be given a boost and wont be a detriment. Both ratings being unsalvageable would be hilarious but also sad. Sekou goes from the 15th pick IRL to not even getting notes bad. Dewan Hernandez turned it over 4.7 times per 36 in his last professional season in China. Bol Bol looks fun. Kabengele's IRL uncle is Dikembe (RIP) and hopefully gets more burn in SLN than real life. Thybulle "takes care of the ball"...

TOP 5 DEFENDERS:
1. Chuma Okeke - Small Forward 6'6" 229 21; C+ C C B+ C+ C
2. Matisse Thybulle - Shooting Guard 6'5" 201 22; C C D B+ C- B
3. John Konchar - Small Foward 6'5" 210 23; C+ B- C B C+ C
4. Tacko Fall - Center 7'6" 311 24; D+ D+ F B C C
5. Talen Horton-Tucker - Shooting Guard 6'4" 234 19; C C+ B- B C B
Next best 5: Culver, GAFF, Lu Dort, Cody Martin, NASTY NAZ

Analysis: 17 players have B- or higher defense in this draft.
6/17 are PF/C, the other 11 are SG/SF.
12/17 have an inside rating of C+ or higher. (Okeke, Konchar, Culver, Gaff, Cody Martin, Reid, Clax, NAW, Kabengele, Goga, Caleb Martin, Nassir)
Only 6 out of that 12 have an outside C+ or higher. (Konchar, Reid, NAW, Kabengele, Caleb Martin, Nassir Little.)
I think this class has some sleepers defensively as well, such as someone like Jalen McDaniels(C+ Def). Surprised someone like Okeke didnt get notes because IRL he is someone who has been ravaged by injuries. But he could be a sneaky good pick as a smallball 4 or an inside 3. Defense is defense but this class offers some solid two way potential guys as well. Of note, Daniel Gafford is the highest Defense meets POT guy(7th highest scouted pot).

TOP 5 REBOUNDERS:
1. Brandon Clarke - Power Forward 6'8" 215 23; B- C+ C- C+ B+ C
2. Bruno Fernando - Center 6'9'' 240 21; B C- D C B C
3. Daniel Gafford - Center 6'10" 234 21; C+ C- D B B B
4. Luka Samanic - Power Forward 6'10" 227 20; C+ C+ C C B- C
5. Nic Claxton - Center 6'11" 215 20; C+ D+ C- B- B- B
Next best 5: Roby(final B-), Bazley, Goga, Konchar, Nasty Naz.

Analysis:
1 Player w/ B B Def/Reb: Daniel Gafford
1 Player w/ B- B- Def/Reb: Nic Claxton
10 players w/ C+ C+ Def/Reb or higher(in order of rebounding rank): Clarke(C+/B+), Roby(C+,B-), Bazley(C+/C+), Goga(B-/C+), KONCHAR(B/C+), Reid(B-/C+), Okeke(B+,C+), Hayes(C+/C+), Bol Bol(C+/C+), Langford(C+/C+).
Slim pickings for a BUTT out here. I think we all know Gaff will be certified good, maybe even more so in SLN. Claxton has the 8th highest scouted pot, so he seems pretty safe as well. BOTH are PROFILE guys as well. Zion is right on the line of C/C+. But Bol Bol's "rebounding is just okay" and he is two slots above him in the ranking. Its funny, Clarke is the best rebounder but with no notes. Everyone else at best is a "Good" rebounder. Good on Ashes for representing things fairly. Not good if like me you need rebounding haha.

MOCK DRAFT TIME EVEN THOUGH IM SPENT FROM OVERDOING RANKINGS:
Current draft order courtesy of JWoo: https://www.simleaguenirvana.com/viewto ... 4&start=20

1. Boston - Ja Morant, Point Guard, Murray State
Needs: DC Oversight; Dark horse pick: Bol Bol
Analysis: Gives Joe a NAME at the point. Shouldnt fuck w/ his ultimate tank and is a relatively fun pairing in the short term next to Anfernee. He is all about the BUTTs at 4/5 so unsure Zion would be the move.
2. Denver - Bol Bol, PF/C, Oregon
Needs: Guards, Bigs. Who id take: Darius Garland
Analysis: Kipke already drafted Bender and Bagley. Two swing for the fences moves. My thinking here is he does the same w/ another dude who hasnt really panned out but could be an SLN unicorn or just says fuck it and takes a risk on Zion. Both are fun and make sense. Garland makes the most sense here to me but value wise i think its the wrong move.
3. Washington - Zion Williamson, PF/SF/C, Duke
Needs: Wings. Dark Horse: Garland, Barrett?
Analysis: Wes is too much about value to let the bad ratings overpower the name and the inside being an A. Even w/ two bigs i think he says fuck it. Wes could take Garland and at the very least have a premier 1/2. The D for Defense Barrett makes sense w/ a massive front court of Siakam/Ayton/Allen. Zion in-between Siakam and Allen makes the most sense though.
4. Charlotte - Nic Claxton, C, Georgia
Needs: Some Big ole BOOTAY
Analysis: Most of this team is set for the future. Draft a solid starting big and keep grinding on that TC luck. I originally picked Gaff but i think based on the profiles Claxton is a better pick for this squad.
5. Milwaukee - Daniel Gafford, C, Arkansas
Needs: Bigs
Analysis: My mind says Gafford makes the most but idfk. Is Sivry a legit A pot? When will Derek trade Beal? MKG deserves to be on a winning team.
6. Seattle - RJ Barrett, SG/SF, Duke
Needs: Lisan Al-Gaib
Analysis: Mitchell Robinson, Randle, Mikal, Brunson. Might as well add another Knick to the formula.
7. Washington (via HOU) - Darius Garland, SG/PG, Vanderbilt
Needs: Actual wings, CWood is cosplaying too much
Analysis: Id like Nolan to get Garland but i think at this point just draft Garland if he is somehow still around and let your guards score a million. The Goal: simply score more and dont foul out.
8. Houston (via MIA) - Luguentz Dort, SG/SF/PF/C, Arizona State
Needs: To Win? Do you have your picks again Nolan?
Analysis: If the Rockets are still in win-now mode gimme Lu Dort. I think next to Lou(AHHHHHH, Lu to Lou, back to Lu, who swings it to Lou) Will he is a grinder and helps this team win from day one.
9. LA Lakers - Kevin Porter Jr, SF.../PG, USC(the real one, not the one in the SEC)
Needs: A Winner, Other Pot Pick: Herro, Cam Johnson, Nasty Naz
Analysis: KPJ can play PG...a SF can play PG. He also is a profile player. Just toss him as a third string 1-3 and let him develop. Yea it makes the most sense when i think about GX's DC possibilities. Also him and Miles Bridges together? Cant pass that up.
10. Portland - Tyler Herro, SG, Kentucky
Needs: None, ur good Quady, keep flowin King
Analysis: Two profile guys left. Herro and Cam Johnson. I think Cam fits well as a backup 3/4 behind Lauri and JJJ. Herro fits as a nice backup after McCants retires as well. Solid place to snag some depth. Went w/ Herro bc younger and higher scouted pot.
11. Denver (via DET) - Cam Johnson, PF/SF, UNC Naz Reid, C/PF, LSU
Darkhorse: Poole, White, Hunter
Analysis: I gave Kipke Bol Bol w/ his first pick. Maybe Cam isnt the way hmm. Alright Nasty Naz in Denver with Kipke's Motley Crue of players. Is Sirvy A pot?
12. Toronto (via PHI) - Deandre Hunter, SF/PF, Virginia
Needs: More Looney Tunes
Analysis: Knowing JWoo this pick will be in someone elses hands by draft time. Or he will just take another big. Goga to Toronto, book it.
13. Sacramento - Cam Johnson, SF/PF, UNC
Needs: Bol Bol or Tacko
Analysis: I think this is as far as Cam will fall. He gives Jesse another Ryno type and has some juicy starting shooting stats. Last profile player is gone.

I WILL DO ALL THIS LATER and ADD MY TOP 10 NDL GUYS LATER.
14. Seattle (via CLE)*
15. Indiana*
16. Swamp
17. LA Clippers
18. Boston (via GSW)**
19. Cleveland (via CHI)**
20. Washington (via MIN)
21. Denver (via VAN)
22. Boston (via PHX)
23. LA Lakers (via UTA)
24. Boston (via SAS)
25. LA Lakers (via ORL)
26. Milwaukee (via ATL)
27. New York
28. Philadelphia (via TOR)
29. Milwaukee (via DAL)
8-) Santa Cruz Warriors NDL Champs: 8-)
