GMOTY 2010-11!
Don't forget to vote for GMOTY! 8 GMs still haven't voted and we have a close race
Fauci is a nerd
with both his trades and articles, merv was likely responsible for much of the trade market liquidity this season - a market that seemed stuck for the early parts of the year. merv also took this team from colossally irrelevant to the playoffs. i had him winning the atlantic and was obviously wrong when they looked dead at the 1/4 season mark. the trading he did to make the playoffs was most impressive.
nav was in a funky spot without a PG and did a great job this season. they were solid without chauncey and got better after that trade - with merv crediting there as well. the oracle made great use of an exiled JRich. somehow created salary with pythagorean powers. fantastic job.
was super impressed by hoff. i honestly thought his team sucked and would miss the playoffs. what do i know. hoff outperformed in every metric with quality buy-lows. again, super impressive and especially with the world watching.
Wes built a great team but feel like was still missing that final piece not named green and just never made that move. to his defense there wasn’t really anyone out there. wes could easily be a top candidate next season.
matt and the bulls have arguably been the best and most well managed team throughout the history of the league. getting gordon and mccants for peanuts and turning gordon into griffin. signing TP to that deal. knowing when to move off guys like mash, ray allen etc. and it’s using nothing but educated guesses and strong stances based on speculation.
everyone said it’s a weak pool and maybe so but id more say it’s a closer race spread throughout the league. more GMs making good cases, but maybe not great cases. i think there’s merit to being a contender and having longevity. matt had the longevity and somehow still has a championship level team that’s… young? not sure how it’s possible. fuck the bulls but matt gets my vote. hope all is well to everyone but mostly - tough shit if i didn’t vote for you.
