Team Awards '21-'22

Post by Joe »

TL;DR - free RPs for a quick post!

Get these done before the tip of next season!

Every year, every GM's got his studs and it's duds, his craftiest moves and most embarrassing flops. For 75RPs, fill out the answers to the following questions and post it in the thread - think of these as your post-season Dundies, awarding each of the first 4 to players on your team, and then reflect on some of the key moments from your year. Post these whenever! Just get em done before sim 1. Offseason questionnaire will be posted later on.

Once you've posted, DO NOT claim your RP in the RP thread - we will calculate at the end.

BIGGEST SURPRISE:
Sam Hauser being actually good and useful day 1

Forgetting how to shoot every year in the playoffs

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR:
Sam Hauser with the 52nd pick? None of our trades really did anything

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Zach Lavine - he’s a beast, even with his weird down TC, super efficient and TOs down

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: thon maker since I traded Winslow - beast

MOST IMPROVED: Max Strus - he’s came in as a sixth man and was super efficient shooting wise

SIXTH MAN: Strus - he was on the loose

BIGGEST SURPRISE: making the playoffs, was sure after trading Winslow we wouldn’t make it with the stretch we had got lucky

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: losing DLO in FA, oh well we will fill the gap

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: probably draft capital and deni for Winslow, will help us retool

REGRETS: facing the hawks in the first round lol, none really though, was a fun season

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Isaac Okoro, my man blossomed in his first year as a starter and is allergic to turnovers. He's not quite where he needs to be yet but his scoring ratings are there and we're hoping for some continued development on defense especially.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: We didn't play very much defense, but I guess Scottie Barnes, he's on track to end up in block and steal per game territory at the 3 which would be sweet if it works out.

MOST IMPROVED: Jordan Poole, he was a stud other than the TOs, had a great year as a starter otherwise from a statistical perspective.

SIXTH MAN: Honestly can barely remember who was coming off the bench because we cycled so many guys in and out, but shoutout my guy Jose, he was kinda nice especially for a rookie when he played.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: I knew we were going to suck but it was good to see flashes from the core guys. But has to be jumping in the lottery to grab Amen, was a really huge stroke of luck for us and hoping he'll be a cornerstone player.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: The trade market generally, but felt like we've been able to do most of what we needed to do.

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Scottie Barnes, was pumped to get into last year's draft and be able to add him, high hopes for him as a future core piece.

REGRETS: None, we're pretty terrible and I'm just enjoying wheeling and dealing

SIXTH MAN: Jabari

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Donte and Precious

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Adams but really losing in the first round again. Injuries sucked last year.

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: ZUUUUUUBATS

REGRETS: Maybe i shouldve just given into Jesse and snagged Boban but i really didnt wanna over leverage myself.

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Probably Oden, though my team fit together so poorly that it's tough to really name an MVP

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Fox, steals monster!

MOST IMPROVED: Tyler Herro, A+ Outside!

SIXTH MAN: Tyler Herro, A+ Outside!

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Massively underperforming; still not certain why but I guess that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes!

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Same as above

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: I guess it's the Oden trade, but I definitely lost that trade

REGRETS: Not making more moves last season to turn it around

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Durantula ! KD is OP. Put up the most disgusting line i’ve seen yet in SLN scoring more than a point a minute, shooting 52%, and playing great defense amassing 3 stocks a game.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Mitten Man ! I think he’s the best defensive PG in the league alongside FVV. He shuts down or limits opposing PGs and was the key difference maker in our best in class defense last season.

MOST IMPROVED: Mitten Man ! He went from a super sub to starting point guard and compliments our two stars perfectly. Better than his dad !

SIXTH MAN: Deron ! Deron was crucial in our success throughout the season. Put up a quality line and helped steady our bench.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Perkins resigned ! Thought he’d have died by now. Once traded a single 22 first which ended up being the last pick of the draft. Good trade

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: 0️⃣

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Deron was huge but it’s gotta be moving Bron for DJ and Denzel which then because DJ and Deron. Not sure why no one came in over the top for DJ ! he was available !!

REGRETS: 0️⃣

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER:

Monta Ellis. Insane how much juice this geezer has. As a 36 year old in year 16, he did 2.4 steals a game, score 22, was a plus rebounder, all on efficient splits. Easy top 5 SG in THIS LEAGUE.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:

Rudy Gobert! Anchored a pretty good defense despite me starting two C defenders at the wing spots. 4 stocks a game. Tall as hell. French as hell. You get it.

MOST IMPROVED:

I'll keep this interesting and say Jerian Grant. He had a very nice TC and captained a good lineup at the one, scoring efficiently as a non option, and playing pretty great defense on opposing PGs. I was really really lucky to snag him for RP.

SIXTH MAN:

RJ Barrett. Genuine star turn from my man as a backup 1-2 and spot starter at SG. Spend the majority of the season slashing 50/80/50. If he starts this year, I'd look for him to make a run at 28+ ppg.

BIGGEST SURPRISE:

Darius Bazley was really, genuinely ready for SLN. He played backup 4-5 and 3-4-5 for me at points last season, did about 10 points and 12 boards per 36 with 3 stocks, all with reasonably efficient shooting. We're going to miss this guy.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT:

Lauri - had a pretty meh season losing some ground in scoring volume with the emergence of Barrett, and started the year pretty cold as well. I hope for a better TC for him this year, and a fast start.

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR:

Signing Rudy to the MLE after having him as a $16mm guy was pretty great.

REGRETS:

I probably should have moved Bazley when I had the chance, but oh well. I thought we had something

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Fultz. Goes without saying but this guys a beast and has been the only shred of hope and joy in Anaheim in quite a long time. 35.5 ppg 10 assists 7 boards even stocks to TOs on damn near 50%. Definitely expecting some of these stats to decline next season since we really sucked.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Okongwu I guess. We didn't play much defense but he led the team in stocks at an underwhelming 2.3.

MOST IMPROVED: Fultz. Improved in almost every statistic.

SIXTH MAN: Frank Kaminsky! Not much to choose from obviously.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Not much sticks out to me. I guess I can say I wasn't expecting Fultz to be this good.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: I was hoping Sexton would get a bit better after a promising first season after his supercamp. He got worse on a team with less talent so that was definitely disappointing.

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: D Will for 3 firsts (22 Indy which somehow ended up lotto, 23 Jazz, and 26 Kings). Also was pumped that I was able to score a decent chunk of RP with various trades and signing RFA guys.

REGRETS: Still feel very dumb for getting way way too cute with my Fultz offer last season and now I'm stressed!

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Mitchell Robinson - Was the main target of trade talks throughout the entire season. Was only 22 and averaged almost 3 blocks and a steal with decent TOs. Better FG% than I expected, I'm hoping he can blossom in to the league's next iteration of DeAndre Jordan

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Mitchell Robinson - for all the reasons stated above.

MOST IMPROVED: Duncan Robinson - Was an NDL stud last season and a lot of his offensive skill seemed to translate to SLN, almost averaged an efficient 20ppg.

SIXTH MAN: Easily Isiah Hartenstein, was a really nice surprise was exactly what I was hoping for when I went after him with the MLE.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Either Dunc or Garlands efficiency, also Mitch and Dunc's resigning offers

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: The entire trade market as a whole right now. John Collin's early season injury also derailed his entire year for the most part. Hoping to see a leap from him this year.

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Happy to get rid of Rubio, had a really nice year.

REGRETS: None
