Fun pod that packed a lot in a short amount of time.
The sabonis/simmons talk was really interesting. I thought I was losing on value but at the time we needed stocks and I thought there was a chance we’d pivot to a tank so I valued Simmons’ expiring for cap space this offseason.
Cooper
and Harper never really came up in talks for Fultz which is why I just kept throwing picks in the pot. Harper just went +5 uncamped and the only reason why his volume is so bad is because we play inside, which totally limits guards scoring (and TOs). Some of those picks are def juicy and with the flattened lotto odds, could easily collectively outweigh the value of Fultz. But he’s basically kyrie without the headache and only 27 years old.
He’s not optimized in inside, but I think this years roster is.
Long term I view him and Harper as perfect backcourt running mates in an outside offense

Some more color on the KP/McDaniels trade.
Trading KP also opened up a second max FA slot in what is hopefully a deep class this offseason. KP was too good to allow me to tank as hard as I wanted in what also looks to be a loaded draft class. So probably the most critical offseason in spurs history upcoming.
Also shouts to Derek for being a great trade partner, I was asking for a young up and coming wing and McD fit the bill perfectly.

Great pod! Gotta say I was pretty down after losing Embiid and KP in FA in back to back seasons, and had nothing really left in the asset chamber besides LaMelo and AG (you would be surprised how little interest there was in AG especially given what has happened in FA). I’m very happy with how my team has turned out… having my pick this year and a core of 4/5 players under 24 who all have good potential plus 3/4 more potential lotto picks, with now room to sign an unrestricted FA.
