SLNS Firstever Razzie Award
Lindsay Hunter
Two people liked my razzie comment! That's over 10% of the league if you include myself. Thats a consensus in my book. Therefore we at the Historians Coalition of Learned Scholars of Maesters are pleased to announce that Lindsay Hunter is SLN’s Hall Of Bums: Revenge of the Razzies for his contribution in the take down of the would be king.
The dynasty that was to never be. The Washington Bullets had Tim Duncan on a Rookie Contract. Ray Allen on a max and a soon to be supermax. They had Raef on a rookie deal. Clyde on a healthy resign. He would soon die, but the man died as an efficient stock positive backup. They had cap space, a chest of assets, and two superstars under 25. All signs were pointing up. Then everything changed when the fire nation attacked. Lindsay Hunter signed a 7yr 120mm Fully guaranteed contract. A massive deal in the infancy of SLN history, for any player. While the contract started at a modest 12.5mm, his deal would have 5yrs at 15mm+ with the final two topping 20mm (almost ¼ of the HC). The two years of the deals, all seemed well. The young bullets sqaud had won a playoff series each year, and took the second round matchups to eventual game 7 losses each year. All signs were point up for this young squad. But as the cap tallied with Ray, Duncan, and Hunters maxes getting into the girth of their proverbial cap shafts, the bullets struggled to round out the squad. They would fail to reach the second round again and only 5yrs into Hunters max, the two superstars were shipped out for a war chest and the tank awoke. Lindsay Hunter never scored 20ppg or more during his max, he was never close to being stock positive (or neutral), and he only shot 40% or better from three once while he was a primary scorer. A hundred years passed and my brothers and I heard that Wes discovered the new Avatar, a ballbender named Cliff, and although his point guard skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to win anything .
But I believe, Paul can save the Bullets.
