This thing has gotten me through a breakup, raising a new puppy, and a death in the family. Honestly, close to shedding a tear Jordo, who tf cut the onions

pacers wrote: February 5th, 2025, 11:47 am But if we want the league to "belong" to everyone, then we’d have to have the mindset of - if bad things happen due to the collective league choosing that, then so be it, at least it was the league’s choice. Stated otherwise, it currently feels like the message is "we want everyone in the league to have a say in the future of the league, except that we as the O6 will have final say over these things we deem important." IMO that cognitive dissonance is what breeds the negativity.

I also now regret spending time on this post, as I don't think this is a big deal and this probably overdramatizes the actual issue. Our league as a whole is well run. But I wanted to share my perspective!
I want to push back on a few things from the above:

1. I don't really understand the "belonging" thing - I don't think the league "belongs" to anyone, it just exists for us all to participate in and enjoy. I personally am not a fan of "if bad things happen, at least it was the league's choice" - we literally have someone with 15 years of experience, who has been several different iterations of these leagues with different rules, GM makeups, and commissioners. Why would we not use that to our advantage to make the league as good as it can be? I would SO QUICKLY just give Jesse the reins and let him czar the league without any oversight because I implicitly trust his decision making and that he knows what's best for the league, and that trust has been built over years of watching him make decisions and take actions (not to mention how much smoother this league runs compared to our last one based on rules that Jesse created basically in a vacuum by himself). It's weird to me that many GMs seem to implicitly DIStrust him, and can't provide examples for where that distrust stems from. I totally get why certain people (Jwoo for Zo trade / Merv for AI press release decision in particular) harbor some discontent because of decisions that got made that actively hurt their teams, but it's been like two real life years since anything like that has happened and I'd like to think that both understood the reasoning behind those decisions, even if they disagreed with them.

2.

Can you provide examples of where we've said this? No one pushed back on the institution of this forum, and no one has ever said anything to the extent of "we have final say over these most important issues". I think this forum existing is good evidence to support that - I guess the counterpoint is grading? Which the graders have listened to feedback and made adjustments multiple times and, after more feedback, are now going to add a non-O6 grader to the fold? I think the "cognitive dissonance" stems from words being put in the O6's mouth that makes us seem like a ruling class where in reality we're just trying to play the game, same as you and anyone else. I legit can't remember the last "decision" we made as a group.

I don't regret spending time on this post. When we started this league, I had 9 GMs in my tree. That's 9 people who texted me (some more than others) consistently for the first like 6 months of the league, 9 different team situations I had to try to put myself in and come up with good, non-conflicting advice, including literally running the Blazers for Ben (and running the Bullets into the ground with one fell Lindsay Hunter contract...sorry again). It was legit exhausting - but it was worth it because I love this hobby and wanted to share it with my friends, and wanted to put the time in early on to make sure everyone I brought to the league had as much information as we had, could hit the ground running, and selfishly, would fall in love with the league so that it would be a success and we never had to go back to our shitty, toxic, poorly run sim league. It's SO disappointing and hurtful every time I hear / read about GMs believing that we're some secret, self interested cabal of elites trying to hold down the masses and keep the spoils for ourselves. It's such a crock of shit, it's thankless, and there literally isn't any evidence to support it, yet anytime it gets brought up on the boards there's apparently a huge consortium of people who believe this and let it influence their opinions.

Love the sentiment but for the love of god can we get an update on the Spurs Upcoming Promotions??

I had the time of my life lubing myself up with calamine lotion at the poison ivey event on what I expected to be a mundane Monday night. You're telling me I have to wait 3 months for another promo!?!
